Just looked at my old beat up luggage and hate to admit it but it makes me look homeless...it's so bad. Any good advice on good quality luggage at a good price?

Thanks to all who reply.

We have lucked out at the Bass Outlet Store. I think we paid $100 for a 2pc set a few years ago that is still in pretty good condition.

Ours doesn't match, but I have bought near new luggage at yard sales. My last purchase was a Louis Vitan (sp?) suitcase for $15. The owner kept telling me, "I paid over $100 and only used it once" to get more $$ but finally let it go for $15. I LOVE it!

I have other pieces I got like the above, but they don't match. I really don't care. Typically each of us only uses one suitcase so we each just have a different style one.

Check overstock.com. I bought the 4 pc. Traveler's Choice set (29-in, 27-in, 21-in, and tote) for $79.99 last year, and the same set is still available at that price. Shipping is super cheap from them, too!

I bought it a year ago, and we've flown with it once and taken it on 3-4 other road trips/family visits/etc. I know that's not a ton of use, but all the pieces still look brand new.

OMG you got a Louis Vuitton for $15.:worship: I would of die if I were to get it something that cheap. Louis Vuitton luggage usually sell for over $1000 per luggage. They are very dureable and last for really long time. :love:Congrad. I would love to see the picture

I've seen luggage at a store called Tuesday Morning. Maybe you have them where you live. They had Samsonite.

I lucked out at Gordman's - found those giant tote bags with rollars on them for $20 each! They've been the Disney twice now and have held up great!!

Yard sales are great for luggage, if pieces don't have to match. As DawnM pointed out, people will often buy luggage for a single trip and then get tired of storing it.

I just bought a $169.00, Samsonite with the 4 wheels instead of 2 at Marshall's for $69.00. I was so psyched....I found it on line, for the cheapest price of $169 but the place was out of stock. I was checking for a few weeks waiting for it to rearrive. I never shopped at Marshall's, went to kill some time and was literally jumping up and down! I had to get blue, when I wanted silver however; for the $100 less, I really could not care.

Check them out!!!

Ditto overstock.com. Also check Target, Walmart, Costco, Sams...some of that stuff is as nice as what you can get at a department store for less money. Also, do you have an outlet mall near you? Check there. Our outlet mall as a couple of luggage stores and they carry great luggage for a great price.

I got a Liz Claiborne set that I LOVE :lovestruc3 years ago at TJ Maxx. 3 pieces for $200! They are sold separately there but if you get there soon after they arrive you can get a set. I even found a tote (my personal) and 2 make-up cases a few weeks later!

Just bought 2 samsonite bags @ tj maxi this summer. Check them out.

Well, I got my relatively no-name brand at Jordan Marsh/Macy's at the Northshore Mall 'a few' years ago; $20 each for a "21" and "25"* inch suitcase. Bringing the larger one on a flight is iffy - it's really close to the maximum size allowed; but I've used the smaller one two or three times a year for about ten years and it holds up pretty well. It did lose the strap to 'piggyback' a second bag, but I just bought something to make up for that. The manufacturer is Hercules and the model is Central Park. The larger one still has the tag on it :lmao:.

*I measured the larger bag when I checked the tag. It's twenty-five inches IF you don't count the wheels or the handle. Total is 31 x 20 x 11, so 62 linear inches. Cuts it REAL close on most airlines, if not just plain going into the oversize category!

When I need luggage, I shop TJ Maxx or Marshall's. Both have wonderful prices on great pieces of luggage. You probably will not be able to purchase a set, though.
