I am trying to help a friend and family plan a trip to WDW. He is a policeman and I was wondering is there a discount that I can let him know about?
Thanks for your help in advance!:)

Nope. But government employees and nurses get a discount at the Swan and Dolphin resorts.

Thank you for the replies!:) I did not remember seeing anything about it on the boards, but I thought I would check. They are wanting to go in December, so we will just keep watching and hoping for good deals!

AH, not so fast!!!!!
TRUST me. If you are a Police Officer or Firefighter ALWAYS when you book "ask" for a discount.
Sometimes, you get what you ask for....it all depends on the person at the other end.
In my experience...i get a little discount or a free upgrade 50% of the time.
Its not talked about but discounts CAN be had.

thanks edwardfire,
I will tell him to ask, when they call to book. Maybe they will have a great cm on the other end that can help.:)

I stayed at the Swan in 2008 and received a police discount. Swan and Dolphin openly give a law enforcement discount. We are going again in 2010 but would like to try a moderate Disney resort and if you hear of any police discounts at these type resorts please let me know.

Thank you.

Swan and Dolphin offer a government discount. Which as a police officer...you can receive. As police officers are federal, state, or local governement employees.

I would definitely check the Swan/Dolphin rates if I were them. When I look up rates in September there are rooms as low as $129 a night with the teacher/nurse/government employee discount. My DH is a firefighter and a nurse and I'm a nurse...we got a great deal through a TA for the Poly, but I'm hoping to get a one night stay at the Swan/Dolphin under a discount when they put their rates up for October.

Otherwise check and see what other deals are going on. As some people have mentioned the 4/3 deal is going on and there is talk of free dining happening sometime in August and September.

Just know the Swan/Dolphin doesn't allow you to be on the dining plan and there are extra fees such as parking your car and a $10 resort fee for water, use of the gym, etc.

HTH!

HMmmmmm scratching chin here...Im wondering if they give discounts to wedding planners...ummmm I tell you...I put my life on the line with these Bridezillas every day!!!!!

Ya know...for all the business you probably give to them there should be a discount! How many couples have chosen Disney as their honeymoon?? Just a thought.

On the subject of police officers and firemen getting discounts...In my opinion anyone who puts their life on the line for me and would run into a fire to save me should stay FREE..never mind a discount.:thumbsup2
