Is there ever a discount for LL Bean? I want to purchase a large item-kayak and would love to save a little.

Not really - in the summer they have a paddle festival and they are 10% off but you have to attend it. If you lived closer I'd say work there and get a discount. But other than that, no, other than tiny promo's like right now a $10 gift card with a $25 purchase (not with a gift card purchase though) - those cards can be stacked (so if you had 5 $25 transactions, and you got 5 gift cards, you could use them all at once). But they are limited to getting 1 of the $10 bonus credits per day.

plummer925 is right; I don't think I've ever seen a % off coupon code for L.L. Bean. If you're a member at Upromise, they currently offer a rebate of 2% on purchases. You get the money after the fact, though, not as a discount off the purchase.

Hope that helps!

Yeah, they don't do a lot of sales, but their 100% satisfaction guarantee can't be beat, so I still buy from them a lot. The only time I have seen things on sale is at the store, but I don't know if kayaks ever go on sale. Sorry!

ETA, just because I can't help myself, I googled LL Bean Kayak sale and found this: http://www.llbean.com/webapp/wcs/st...cat4=503991&shop_method=pp&feat=304-sub1&np=Y No clue if that might help you, but it is proof that some times they do have sales on kayaks!

A lot of the kayaks LL Bean sells are made by Old Town Canoe Company in Old Town, Maine. They are running a deal that you get a $50 visa gift card with the purchase of some models (mostly Vapors). The website has more info and a dealer locator section. You might be able to find a store closer that carries what you want.

Well, right now LL bean is offering free shipping along with the $10 GC so that's good.

I'd also check cashback offers on credit cards or other sites - which can be combined with the current GC and free shipping offer:

for example, if you become a member of ebates.com you can get 2% cashback - that's $16 - not a lot but better than nothing.

Personally, I love the Discovercard cashback offers- cause I can get more money back. If you have a discovercard and shop thru the discovercard link you can get 5% cashback. on an $800 Kayak that would be $40 in cashback which you can add to by getting a GC.

Not as much as you might save if they offered coupons but better than nothing.

I know the local outlet has sales ocassionally with 20-30% off everything in the store. It means hoping there is the kayak you want in the store, but on BF weekend the manager mentioned that was one of the big sellers because of the store-wide discount. :thumbsup2

I would also like to mention the outlet stores. I think they have had at least one kayak in the store every time I've been in there. I don't know anything about kayaks, so can't really address the prices. Check to see if there is an outlet near you and call them.

I bought my kayak at the Freeport outlet a couple years ago on Black Friday. It ended up over 60% off the original price (was 30% off the outlet price that day.)

We did look a little silly tying it on in the snowstorm, but the price was right! :thumbsup2
