I recently booked ATA for our trip to WDW in December. This is our first time flying with an infant. I booked online and did not find anything anywhere about infants so I booked our 11-month-old granddaughter as a child to make sure that she would have a seat for her carseat. I later read that infants fly at a discount so I called ATA and sure enough, the infant fare was $67 cheaper. In order to get the infant rate, I had to pay a $50 ticket change fee so ended up with only a $17 credit. I tried to have the fee waived, explaining that there was no mention anywhere of infant fares on the website and no way to book infants but got nowhere. I also tried to get a credit as the fare dropped $15 from when I booked it last week. I would have had to pay the $50 fee for each of the five tickets! I guess next time I will be checking out Southwest!!!!!

Sorry for your troubles, but GOOD FOR YOU for getting your child a seat on a plane! So many parents risk their children by having them on their laps just to save a little money! The odds of severe turbulance is low, but if you do hit it, there is no way on earth you'll hang on to your child, and they'll go flying through the cabin, hurting themselves and/or others.

I'd try speaking to a supervisor at ATA and see if you can't get that fee waived.
