Discount codes?

I'm sure this has been asked before but how do people get discount codes for rooms? I see it talked alot on the Disboards and I am curious how people get them.

If you're talking about pin codes (20%, 30%, 40% off) that people get through emails and/or postcards, those are pretty much luck of the draw I think. We have been going to Disney once a year for the past 7 years and have yet to receive a pin code . Maybe that's why we've never gotten one . But I've read where people have gotten them who go all the time, so I just think they're sent out at random and there's no set way to get one .

I received two of the code emails this week. I booked my trip this morning and was speaking to the castmember about the codes. He didn't really know why some people get them and some don't, but he thinks their marketing dept. may choose a group of people based upon where their last name falls in the alphabet. I know that I've received one from an email I used to get the usual Disney DVD, and I've recently applied for the Disney credit card and I think that might have something to do with it too.
