Discount Codes or Ideas for Wicked - NYC?

Hi,

I was thinking of surprising my daughter on her 10th birthday with tickets to Wicked in NYC - I see I can get tickets with Ticketmaster on the official website. Anyone know of any promo codes or any suggestions for savings?

I know about the discounted tickets the day of but want to purchase before hand to be sure we have them. Thanks!

IMO - you are wise not to plan on the "day of" tickets for Wicked. Amazingly, despite being there for years, this show still sells out the theater! (Plus those TKTS lines are totally insane - they put WDW attraction lines to shame!)

We've seen the show twice on b-way - once just last month (bought those tix *last* summer as an Xmas gift for DD12). There wasn't an empty seat in the house.

You'll pay full freight, plus those nasty TicketMaster fees if you can't get the tix right from the box office, but the show is worth it. Enjoy!

I get emails from Playbill, etc. I have never seen a discount for Wicked.

Check out broadwaybox.com and theatermania.com. We got Rock of Ages tickets 50% off last fall when we were in NYC. They also sell discounted day-of-show Broadway tickets at the TKTS booth in Times Square- you can get a deal if you are not picky about what show you see.

I don't have any info on discount tickets but wanted to say that I saw Wicked on tour last week in Dallas and it was incredible! I can't wait to see it on Broadway one day! You will LOVE it!!

I've never seen a discount for Wicked through any B'way discount site (Playbill.com, BroadwayBox.com, etc.). My only suggestion for a discount would be if your employer offers any kind of group discounts to events. Mine has a program called Working Advantage where they offer tickets to shows, sporting events, etc at a small discount.

Also if you can go to the box office in person to purchase your tickets you will save on all those Ticketmaster fees.

It is a great show & well worth the money for a special birthday gift. Good luck!

I don't think Wicked ever has discounts, other than the daily lottery for front row seats. All my daughter wanted for Christmas was to see Wicked on Broadway (we saw it at a local theater once), so we'll be seeing it on her 13th birthday next week! It was very expensive, but I think it's well worth the money. There is also a $30 show on Saturday mornings about how they make the show, and we did that recently. That was also amazing! It's called Behind the Emerald Curtain. If you can do both, I think it really enhances the whole experience.

Dd13 got $50 tickets, but her choirs bought a big block (and we had a major snowstorm, and the bus was cancelled, but fortunately, the theater allowed them to go on another day). Otherwise, no, except the day thing, which I wouldn't count on. I took dd13 when she was 10 for the first time - it was awesome! So, buy the tickets, knowing now that a deal is not to be had.

If you have a Borders Rewards card or Dell Rewards account, they sometimes have discounts available. Also, the Broadway Concierge and Ticket Center (listen to xmradio/Seth Rudetsky) frequently has student rush tickets for day-of performances. Wicked is an awesome show.

Thanks everyone for the replies, at least I feel better knowing that there isn't a code floating out there...

I purchased the tickets last night and now have to wait a month and a half before I can surprise her (then another month to the show!). It did hurt paying that amount but I'm glad to see all of the raves here.

I thought I read on the TKTS website that they do not have discount tickets ever for Wicked, Lion King or Memphis
