Discount code qualifying dates?

When a discount code comes out, does your stay have to be totally within the discount days? For example, if the discount started on the 10th and your stay was from the 8th to the 12th does the discount apply to your whole stay or just from the 10th or not at all?

Room discounts are date specific. If you checked in the 8th and the discount didn't start until the 10th, you wouldn't get the discount for any nights unless you booked two separate reservations (one for the 8th-10th and then another for the 10th-12th) as discounts can't be applied if it's one reservation and check in is prior to the start of the promo. With that said, if you checked in at the start of the promo and your stay was longer than the dates allotted for the promo, any nights outside the promo dates would be at rack rate. It would work the same way for free dining. You would have to do a reservation for the first few nights and then do a free dining package for the dates covered under that promo. HTH .

If your check in date is in the discount period and the discount ends before your trip is over, then those dates will be rack rate. I have an eight night trip booked and only the first five nights are discounted. The rest of the nights are rack rate.

A free dining discount will apply to your entire stay as long as the check in day falls within the free dining period. I think there is a ten day limit for free dining. At least, that wasthe way it used to be. Free dining hasn't been offered yet in 2013.

OK. A little more complicated than I thought! Trying to decide when to go Spring 2014. I was planning on a room only during regular season and hoping for a discount. Since discount could come out after I make the reservation it could be tricky to either pick the right dates or change dates. Not counting on a discount, so not willing to book during peak rates.

You can easily modify a reservation, pending availability. If you book and later a discount comes out for your dates/resort, you can call and have the discount applied to your reservation. Keep in mind that there has to be availability at the resort/room type you have booked as having a reservation in place does not guarantee a discount can be applied, but it is possible to apply a discount later and/or tweak your dates to accommodate a discount .

If you book a package, you have up until 45 days prior to arrival to cancel or make changes without a penalty; for room only, it's 5 days prior to arrival.

Thanks for all of these replies! I've been to DW a few times but have never managed to use a discount code. This trip is just my mother and myself, so with no kids we can be flexible with the dates if there is a savings. In the past I have received post cards with discount pins and also emails - if it happens for this trip I want to make sure we can use it. Also concerned we will purchase airfare prior to a discount and have trouble changing that.
