If I book a resort now for Nov. 2017 and a discount is released this summer, can I somehow get the discounted rate?

Yes, as long as what you have booked is available under the discount; however, you do have to call/check online as discounts are not automatically applied. With that said, sometimes you have to be flexible with your resort and/or room type as not every resort/room type is offered under promos and having a reservation already in place does not guarantee a discount can be applied.

Great, thanks. My budget says "Value", but I really want to stay at a Moderate. I know POFQ typically is excluded from room discounts, so I'm thinking of booking CBR or CSR and hoping for a discount, which would be great.

If you book online, you should see a link to "change reservation" when you look up your reservation on MDE. I had booked a rack rate room for the Marathon week, and was able to change it to a passholder rate online. The reservations I've booked over the phone don't usually show this link, so I have to call in for those. But it can still be done. I agree that you have to be flexible and willing to change if the resort and/or room type you have booked now isn't available with a discount. Sometimes for me the resort choice or the dates are more important (I even paid rack once :crazy2:), and sometimes I can be very flexible if necessary so I can chase the best deal.

POFQ has been available recently for discounts, so I would definitely check on that resort if it's the one that interests you. I have an AP discount there next month and a bounceback discount there in May.

Wow, that's great! I've been looking into CSR and am excited to try it, but POFQ also looks great!
Is there any benefits to calling in the reservation versus reserving on-line?
Do passholder rates come up every-so-often or is there a consistent reduced rate for passholders?
Thanks for all of the info! I LOVE your avatar! That's my favorite view in all of Disney (which makes me realize that a similar scene should be MY avatar!).

You're welcome! As long as you're flexible and have a back up if your first choice isn't available, you should be able to get a discount :goodvibes.

Unfortunately, there's no consistent discount for AP holders. AP discounts work the same as others in that they are released every so often for certain time frames.

There isn't a big benefit booking one way or the other. Sometimes room inventory can be slightly different, so it is a good idea to check both if you want a specific resort.

There are passholders rates most of the time, but they aren't a consistent rate or anything. It's based on what they need to fill, so they may exclude weekends or specific weeks during the discount period. The percentage rate may vary as well. I book a mix of discounts through the year, everything from passholders to Florida resident to bounce back to general public. It's all about where I can get the best rate for when I want to go.

Flower and Garden does make for some great photos, doesn't it?
