This is my current quoted price:

(5 nights Disney value room + Dining) 4 day pass ($3548)
If they release summer codes, can someone tell me about how much cheaper this will be and should I book now and apply the code later?

Which dining plan? Basic ticket or Park Hopper? The dining plan and tickets are not generally discounted.
A discount will not be "applied". If a discount is offered, you will need to book a new reservations for the discounted resort and room type you would like, if available. The discount will be on only the room portion of the above cost.
What the difference will be totally depends on where you are booking, what %age off they are offering for that discount etc. We can not tell you definitively now whether a discount will even be offered, and if it is what %age it will be and for which resorts.
Your best bet is to book now if you will go with or without a discount, or wait until the discounts, if any, are announced and you can judge this years offer
Good Luck

@Hopefully is correct, you cannot apply the code if one is released. If you plan to go no matter what, book now.If travel depends on a discount, I would not book unless you are afraid you will not get the meals that you want.

I think that if you want to see what your best price would amount to, just break out each componant of your package and go from there. You should have those costs anyway becuase ther emay be more than one discount to choose from, and if you do nto know what your individual pieces of the package cost, you will not be able to choose the best discount.

I am not sure if this is accurate, but the value RO discount which seems to be "up to" 15%, so take off 15% of your room rate, and then apply the tax. Add your tix and DIning. That is your new cost.

Free dining if offered, do the same. Take off the cost of the Counter Service plan but use the rack rate for your room.

Beware that lately when offers are made, they include add-ons like hoppers or water parks, so before you think about a discount offer, decide if you would have purchased those options.

The fun & sun offer that's out for late spring/early summer has no such stiplulation.

I know, but if the OP is not using that one, I felt that I should talk about what the summer discounts have stipulated in the past. My DD booked a good discount for last July and it allowed her to move to the Poly and still reamin within her comfort level, but she had to add hoppers. She was fine with that addition because she had originally planned them, chose to wait but ultimately would have anyway. They bounce around from park to park, and with the Summer heat, the hoppers were definately used. If you dont want them or will not use them, it is apx $70 per person that is wasted.

I just booked this past week and there were no real discount offers past June 10th through Disney. I would wait if you are traveling over the summer and are trying to get the best rate.
I ended up renting DVC points so the discount did not apply anyway.

I am glad that I came across this thread as I have been wondering about this issue for a while now and am hoping that one of you will be able to clarify something for me regarding the issue of not being able to apply a discount code to an existing reservation. I currently have a room only reservation booked for this summer at full or rack rates. When I access "My Reservations" on MDE and click on the option to "Change Reservation", the following option is listed:

"Vacation Offer: Standard Price Room, Select 'Change' to search for other available offers"

When I click on "Change", I get the message: "No Available Offers - There are no other available offers at your hotel within your current date range…etc."

I'm a little confused by this…I don't see why they would even offer this option on the website if there wasn't the option to change your existing reservation based on a new offer. I don't believe I've heard of anyone clicking on the "Change" button on an existing reservation and actually seeing a discount offer there. Do you think that this might not have anything to do with general discount offers but is maybe only specific to individual PIN code offers? I just found the whole thing to be very odd. Maybe if you were to see such a offer, you would actually have to cancel and make a new reservation as 'Hopefully' and 'Nancyg56' have already indicated. I really have no clue…obviously :)

If you look here, you will see historical discounts over the past few years so you can get a sense of what, maybe, to expect. I say maybe, because no one knows, year by year, what WDW is going to do:

https://www.mousesavers.com/historical-information-on-walt-disney-world-resort-discounts/#codechart

If you book now, there is no guarantee the resort and room category you chose will be included in the discount for your dates, so, if you are a little flexible with resorts and room categories, you'll have better luck with a discount. If you are going regardless, book now. If you are only going with a discount, I would wait until they come out.

The option to change to another offer will become available if they release an offer for your dates.

I used the change reservation button on the MDE website last week to change my room only reservation to an AP discounted offer, so yes it does work, and yes people have done it. I was also able to see non AP general offers, but the AP one had availability for a better room than the general offer had.

Thank you both Marthasor and gillep for your replies! So just to be clear and further to the original topic of this thread, would I have to cancel my original reservation and rebook with the discount if one became available or would they just 'adjust' my existing reservation? I have heard that hypothetically, you cannot 'change' a reservation unless there is availability within the system that does NOT include your existing reservation. I'm not sure how accurate that is.

My experience has always been that no you cannot 'change' a reservation unless there is availability that does NOT include the existing reservation. When you go through the change reservation feature before you actually change the reservation it shows you the old and the new reservation and you confirm that YES you want to change. I don't know in the back end what is technically happening, but I always think of it as a cancellation and rebooking while my new reservation is being 'held' by the system. I actually rebooked my reservation about 3 times last week using this feature, as we decided to change dates and then I was able to get an AP discount vs another room only discount for a more desirable room and other sorts of fiddling.

Thank you so much gillep!! This is extremely helpful information and just the explanation that I was looking/hoping for. Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. Have a great day!!

I can confirm that I did the same thing. I was booked rack rate at CSR, then changed to the fun & sun offer at WL, then changed to club level at WL under the fun & sun offer. If there are rooms available, you can for sure see them.
