We are disconnecting our phone and going to all cell.
It's just the two of us and we rarely use our cell phones. But are going to change. :)
We realized we hardly ever answer our house phone since we have caller ID and almost all are "Unknown Caller" (telemarketers). And we had to ask, Why are we keeping it?
So we upgraded to more long distance on the cells and I am disconnecting the regular phone service.
Spending a little more on one end, but saving $45 on another.

Who else here is doing this already?

Not gonna happen, have dialup internet access here.

But, I do have a question; When you go to the store and they ask for a phone #, because that's how a lot of stores now organize their customer information, what do you give them? The cell?

when i lived in england, a lot of people did this b/c phone service was so $$$.

sounds like a good idea for you. :)

I thought about it, but there's no way I could hear the phone from all over the house. I know some people are fine with letting some calls go to voice mail, but for some reason that would drive me crazy.

I thought aboot it, but DH has a reason why not which I can't remember at the moment. :)

I'd love to do that, but with two teenagers I don't see that happening for a while. ;)

It really makes me mad each month when I pay the phone bill. The fees and taxes are more than the basic service.

My DH wants to do that, but with 3 teens at home, I'm thinking that might be quite costly!!!

I called and ordered the disconnect.
For $11 a month, I could have kept the phone, changed the number and have an hour worth of outgoing phone calls a month. (2 cents a minute after that.)
I thought about it until she told me after taxes, fees, etc, the monthly cost was $18! :p
I was also offered a $60 Target gift card if I kept my phone for a year. Again, don't think so!
But anyone who wants a gift card, and their phone ;) could try it! :jester:
US West (Qwest)
They still make plenty of money from us. We have their cable and internet cable service through Qwest (Telechoice).
