I kind of liked the idea of cutting a lot of the face off. It gives it a more edgy look (or something :rotfl: ) This is the large Cinderella from the Wal-Mart pillowcase. The other side of the pillowcase did have 3 smaller princesses.

I mainly wanted to get lips and eyes in and have her still be recognizable as Cinderella.

DSCN3005.jpg

This is one of my favorite ones that has been posted. I so copied that picture the first time I saw it!

I think that Cinderella works well that way. I think its a little harder with Aurora or Ariel. Doable, but harder.

I love all of the outfits posted today. Sooooo cute! Ya'll were busy while I was watching football :)

I agree there are some great children's customs here. It is nice to see some adult things too :thumbsup2 Your top looks great.

Here are a few of my customs.
I did this on before our October trip. The minnie jeans are from Disney shopping, but I customized the jacket.

This is my second attempt at this top. The first one was way too small for me so UpDisney's daughter's will benefit from that. The second attempt fits, but I am not impressed with the way it fits. I will try it with a cami underneath and see if I like that better if not Vicki's daughter's will get a second top :rotfl:

I love these outfits!!! The animal top looks great!
Last night I made my first twirl skirt. I had a lot of issues. I think my main issue is that I don't really know how to sew. :rotfl:

A few problems I had:

-I gathered the skirt before I pinned it together. I didn't read the directions right. This resulted in uneven gathers.

-My fabric wasn't long enough. I still don't know how I was supposed to fix this. :confused3 The directions said to buy one yard of each type of fabric, which I did. But then I was supposed to cut a stip that was like 80 inches long. One yard isn't long enough for that. Was I supposed to sew two strips together to make one strip? Because it wasn't long enough, it's not very "twirly."

-When I was gathering my thread kept breaking. Any tips for this? Or do I just need better thread?

-I cut really uneven. I don't have a rotary thingy, because I don't know what it is. :rolleyes1

I also made an applique shirt to match. The applique is really crooked. I can't seem to ever get them straight. I had my niece stand crooked so it would look straight! :rotfl:

th_P2031833.jpg

She tried to twirl, but I didn't use enough fabric. Whoops!

A little closer up shot of the shirt.

Ok, I just looked at the link you posted earlier. I think you may have cut your fabric the wrong way, Did you cut from selvedge (finished, uncut edge of fabric)to selvege edge? If you did, that's good, that's how you are suppose to do it. You should have cut two strips "x" width and then sewn them together. You sould have fabric left over from a yard of fabric that way.

Are you using a long basting stitch to do your gathers? I like to zigzag over some cording to make gathers, or use my ruffler foot. There are some tips in the bookmarks for making gathers, just search for gathering. I always do the gathering stitch, then pin it together, then adjust the gathers.

But, this really is very cute, and you should be proud of yourself!!! I can see that your neice is very happy with it too!

Hi - here is my try at Valentines outfits - the doggy and the LOve(onesie) shirts were from last year - I couldnt believe it when I got them out that I had fabric that matched pretty well!!! I tried finding some matching rick rack or something for the black outfit, but nothing quite matched the pinks and reds in the hearts - I also got a pair of black leggings with red stripes on them to complete the outfit.....think it will work????

i was also wondering if someone could post a pair of overalls where you sewed a little skirt around the middle???? I couldnt find it in the pictures - was I seeing things? How do you make those??? Thanks!!!
These are so adorable! I think that might be in the Minnie and Mickey section under denim.

HI - I am a newbie here that was inspire by you all. I have two best friends who just had babies and two other acquaintances. . . I wanted to give them shopping cart covers as a gift - but most of the one's I saw were about $50 :scared1: So, inspire by you all I got a pattern and made 4 of them (2 sets with $1 a yard fabric (the first two I made) and two with nicer $2 a yard fabric from Walmart). Anyhow, I am SUPER proud of the 3rd and 4th ones I made. I made them all reversible.

Here's a pic of the first two on a Target cart:

These two have attached straps with snaps for toys:

In between I made my SIL some PJ's - she is having surgery and needs either gowns or oversized t's - since she doesn't wanna feel like an "old lady" I got men's 2X shirts, and then cut out her first and middle initials (AJ - which is her nickname) and did my first aplique job - FAR from perfect, I gotta get the speed down, but ok and made with love and that should count above all:

DSC06301.jpg

THANKS for all the inspiration. . . now I am going to try to applique some stuff onto baby onezie's and pants. . .

These are great!! I always wanted one of those covers when my babies were babies! What a wonderful and thoughtful gift!!! And, the pajamas are so sweet!!! She is going to love those!

I just took a better picture then the one I had of Georgia wearing this outfit months ago! I just found my stash of this left over scraps. I have enough lefto do another little outfit! I dont think this will fit her (too short) in May!

I went today and bought the silver ric-rac to add to Parker's skirt. I am quite please with how it turned out.

HSMskirt2.jpg

We went this afternoon and bought our Hannah Montona 3D movie tickets and when we got home I was telling Parker that she could wear her "Rock Princess" shirt (it has 2 tiny guitars on it) and she said "no, I have to wear my new skirt". So, we'll see what she will be wearing tomorrow.

Also, I had planned on appliqueing "I Love (heart) Troy" on the white l/s tee that I bought but I am really afraid it will bring it down some. What do you all think about this:

1) Finding a white shirt that has a bling heart on it (if I can find one) or
2) Having someone do embroidery on it?
That looks FANTASTIC!!! I love it! Absolutely perfect!!!

These turned out great!

Does anyone remember how to get photobucket OFF of mobile?

I made my text size giant by going to view. Then I was able to see the link. Why the heck does it keep going to mobile?

The poster that posts the URL for their pictures (some very cute pictures by the way!), TinaLala, is posting a mobile Photobucket URL instead of a regular one, so that makes our Photobucket reset to Mobile.

I've been trying to post few pictures of our december trip and my card reader broke! I used my friends, but only have a few minutes. So here's a whooping 3 pictures from our trip.

All three kids in Nemo outfits. It was very warm that day, so Haven is not wearing the matching pants.

nemooutfits.jpg

Haven getting her first haircut! We just trimmed up the back, but she didn't mind a bit.

haircut.jpg

Haven meeting Goliath. My first attempt at applique.

meetinggoliath.jpg

The boys and I ended up passing around the flu the whole time we were there and we lost most of our adr's :sad1: Haven absoluted loved seeing the characters. Goliath spent about 10 minutes playing on the floor with her.

Unfortunately Dh wants this to be our last disney trip, besides maybe a mother/daughter one a few years from now. It was our second trip and the boys were very much been there, done that, let's get back to the pool!

Just adorable!!! You have such cute kids!!! I love the JoJo outfit!!! That is great!!

How sad that your husband doesn't want to go anymore. :sad1: Ditch those boys and do your Mommy daughter trip!

Yes, they are! Since you asked, here is a shameless post of the babies! Enjoy!
th_skipperpups5wks.jpg
Yay!! They are ADORABLE- I think the purple rick rak puppy- He's a little poser- Knows right where to look!!
Ok, I'm needing ideas. SOmething is missing from these dresses, any ideas? There is actually 2 of each.
th_P1020805.jpg
I would do an applique from fabric from the skirt part on the chest. great job BTW!! :thumbsup2
OK, Here is my first attempt at posting photos on the DIS and my first contribution to the DISboutique!

Backstory - DD9 wanted to learn how to sew for Girl Scouts so I figured it was time to teach her!

Here are her PJ pants that she made herself (her first project)! She picked the fabric herself.

hahaha I really don't think I'll get that many done lol - Maybe a couple and the rest of the days will be a tshirt and pants/shorts. Wouldn't 42 outfits be fantastic though - but then what would I do with them after - my child barely wears clothes as it is (she like the au naturel look :rolleyes1 )
They will love whatever you get around to making- But you do have time so why not shoot for the stars. You could make a countdown chart for your finished outfits>:lmao:

Is that one for lily- your dd2??
Maybe I was wrong and I should do the face on the bodice...Hmmmm
Here's my Ariel outfit. I didn't make the pants, they are from the Disney Store but I loved that they matched everything perfect.

Hopefully this will work, I can't usually get pictures to post from the mac.

th_DSCF0980-1.jpg

Now if I could only get my All in One printer and the mac to talk to each other I could post pictures of the Valentine's peasant top and Mardi Gras top I made DD. They aren't speaking to each other so I have to figure out why...
That is Cute!! Sorry about you computer & printer not speaking- Hope they make up soon!! :rotfl: My mac is usually pretty cooperative!!
Okay, here are a few pictures from our September trip. I don't remember if I already posted these on the old thread or not.

Can you tell the girls are Minnie Pirate Princesses?
th_disney2007870.jpg

recognize the cool pink & black Mickey fabric? I made these skirts and I glued the rhinestones on the tops.
I have like 8 more outfits but I don't want to be a board hog!
They are all really great I love the christmas tree one and the pink and black fabric ones. Thanks for sharing more- we can't get enough around here!!

Is that one for lily- your dd2??
Maybe I was wrong and I should do the face on the bodice...Hmmmm

Yes, that was for Lily. I almost wished the bodice was a little smaller because I was going for the look Aimeeg got on the one she made (without cheating and using a pillowcase :rotfl: ) I just finished my Minnie head one I made for Lil. I used a different pattern on that one to fit more of Minnie on because my Minnie head panels are pretty big. It turned out really cute though! I will post photos tomorrow, well today I guess, it is almost 12:30am where I am and I need to go to bed!!!!

That's great- Don't give up!!
The Belle Bling shirt is awesome- I would wear that too!! Where did you find the chesire cat fabric that is cool!! Your girls are going to FLIP when you tell them!!! Great Great Job!!
That is cute- Hope the Scouts love them!!
I think the Animal top is great!! And the jacket is cool too- Why didn't I think of that :rolleyes1
Great job for you first try and it looks like your niece is happy!! Don't give up, it will get easier!!
I love the dora and the other ones are great too- I still have those tshirt dresses on my to do list maybe I should move them up the list :rolleyes1

I LOVE the detail around the Mickey head....how did you do that? Super cool!!!:yay:

Well I think I cought the sewing bug..because my house is quiet, all are sleeping (even the dog) and i whipped up this little number. I dont know if I should hide it way and give to Georgia on her birthday Thursday, or see if she wants to wear it tomorrow for school... I keep thinking how cute it will look over jeans with a shirt under it.

I bought some patterns when they were .99 at joann, maybe I'll have to check those and compare them to the pillowcase design. I wanted to buy more pillow cases but the images just seemed SO big- I guess Ican't except that MY BABY is getting big enough to wear them!!:rotfl2: :sad1:

Can you stand the anxiety of waiting to see her in it???? Good luck!:lmao:

Sugarbees- It was really easy actually. I had a Mickey head template and pinned it to the back of the green fabric. Then Pinned them both togther on the instead of the shirt. I went around three times. I tore off the template. turned the shirt right side out and took my scissors and snipped in a little and started to cut away, keeping it close but not too close to the stitches. Georgia loves the tattered look! Its all the rage these days. haha

Its also perfect idea on shirts that still fit, but maybe had some stains on them. No need to toss them! haha LIke this shirt did. My kid can't keep anything clean.

I hope that makes sense.

VERY cool! I love the tattered look too...I've spent way too much money on stuff that looks old/worn out/etc...etc... My DD12 & DD11 love that too...I am definitely going to CASE that! THANKS!!!! :flower3:
