I've seen so many great things lately! I am actually going to join in the fun. I put a couple of picture on photobucket last night so here are a couple of things I've made in the last few months.

This is Drew's Thanksgiving outfit. She wore it to school the last day before Christmas break too.

Drew asked for a special birthday outfit. There is a 6 on the skirt of the dress that you can barely see. I actually played a dirty trick on her. She loves that rainbow rick rack and well, I don't! She is always begging me to put it on everything and I never ever do! So, I was buying this fabric and thought, "I can put that on this dress and she'll love it and I'll never have to see it again!" Win, win!

Well, those are the only two I have up so far. I have a couple of others that I will try to get up later!

I've loved everything and have been stealing tons of ideas from all of you!!!!! Keep up the good work.

I bought your scallopini(sp) skirt last night. I cant wait to try it! I am having trouble with getting a nice fabric scheme combo. This means a trip to wal-mart tonight!

When I have done it, I have gathered the skirt (with upolstery thread, of course) and then pinned it straight to the shirt. Then sew the seam and zig zag through both layers and turn it over and top stitch the seam to the bottom of the shirt. I hope that helps!

When you gather, are you just zigzagging over the upolstery thread and then pulling? Am I missing something? And if so, doesn't thank make it bulkly and not even?

It's a very simple sundress pattern from some old magazine that my Mom cut out. It was my first try so it was a learning experience! I learned that I will use velcro on the back instead of sewing tiny snaps on everything!

I don't usually lie to my kids, really, but I did tell them years ago that you had to have a teeny tiny sewing machine to make barbie clothes and that I couldn't afford it because it cost a million dollars! I do NOT want to start making Barbie clothes!!!! I have about 15 AG patterns (including some rare actual AG brand patterns from the 90's) and I can't even force myself to do those.

I think the v-day shirt and skirt look great together too!! Is your dd going to wear it tomorrow (today)???

She has to wear uniforms to school, but she is going to wear it on the 14th. That's my grandma's birthday and my grandpa will be taking her out and they usually take my DD with them.

Oh my gosh, you are fast! They both look great, I hope you will show us them on too. So how much did that first one cost you? A penny for the fabric, thread, elastic, lace and a t-shirt? That's excellent!

The overskirt was a penny, the pink material was a $1 a yard (I bought it a while back and just had it on hand) I think is almost a yard, the shirt was $3.50 in the boys section. I could not find a plain pink T in the girl's section. I found this very odd. The lace that is on the skirt is some I had on hand, but the lace I bought was $1.97, the elastic was $1.77 for 6 yards.

I love both of these outfits. Question - did you just sew the shirt onto the skirt to make a dress? Do you put in an elastic at all for the skirt or just let the shirt do the work?

The panel skirt is seperate from the shirt. I just had it pinned to the shirt so I could have it all in one picture. The Valentine's dress is like the Initial nightgown that Tom makes. I just gathered the top of the skirt and attached it to the bottom of the t-shirt. Hope that helps.

We did Mickey head tie dye shirts too!! They were alot of fun!! Did you already buy your shirts?? If not get them from jiffyshirts . com They come in like a day and the colors really hold up a lot better then the packs of hanes or whatever from the stores. We got Hanes heavy weight and I think they something like 1.77 each and you could get any size!! And make sure the water is really hot- it makes the colors more vibrant I bought other "blanks" at the same time to optimize shipping- (they have standard shipping up to a certain price)
We did a trial run on the shirts and bought the store ones the first time- We were disappointed with the results so I asked around and people suggested jiffy shirts. Ok sorry to babble.

All they sell are tye-dye stuff, so I am hoping their shirts are good. I am going to do them this afternoon after my DD4 heads to preschool. I don't think that I want her around this project! I have the shirts prepped (the mickeys drawn, basted and tied off, so I just have to dye them. When you say use hot water, do you mean for the presoak in soda ash, the water to make the dye or the post wash in the washer?

Also, has anyone ever done a post wash in a front loader? They generally recommend filling the washer and then putting the clothes in, but that doesn't work for my washer.

We did those! They were a lot of fun. My kids wore them to AK and we went on Kali river rapids about 100 times (the beauty of going in Sept.!) and the dye ran down the back of their legs and stained the skirts they were wearing. I had washed those things about 10 times too! Just remember that the dye probably won't be totally colorfast. Have fun!

I( always use Dharma trading for my dye. They're the best!
I've never bought shirts from them, but I'm assuming they're of good quality like the dyes.

Morgan got a kick out of all the "signature" poses and asked me if I had shown hers (which I don't think I have ) But here is the "Morgan":

That one was an idea I was playing with for an eBook, but I decided that 1) the construction of it is pretty basic and could be figured out without an eBook (I want people to get something that makes them say - "ah-ha! that is how you do it!") and 2) It would be torture to do without a ruffler. I'd be happy to describe how I did if you all are interested .

I'd love to hear how you made it! I have a guess, but I'd love to hear from you how you did it.

Wow, I don't explain things clearly! Sorry! I stitch a basting stitch around with the upolstery thread. Then I pull and gather and pin. Then I sew around (with normal thread), taking out the pins as I go. Then I zig zag over the edges of both the skirt and top. Then I take out the basting stitches, removing the upolstery thread and top stitch on the front. It isn't fast, but it works for me. I usually stitch the basting stitch at 5/8 away from the edge and then the seam 1/4 so I don't go over the basting stitches with my thread.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to ask for an itemized list, but I thought if I could get fabric for a penny I would actually sew for less than it costs to buy, like I told my husband, lol!

Wow this thread moves fast! I am leaving for Disney in about a week and a half and I have nothing custom for DD to wear. This is a last minute trip and I am a procrastinator so I really have to get my butt in gear and get sewing. Luckily I have a few projects already started so hopefully I will be able to finish them up pretty quickly.
Looking at everyone's beautiful creations has been inspiring. I am going to clean the house this afternoon so I can get sewing tonight.
How hard are the stripwork jumpers? I don't have a ton of sewing skills but I can knock out a peasant top or basic skirt pretty easily.

Do you buy prepackaged elastic or buy it by the yard? I used to buy it prepackaged and learned that I could get a heck of lot more if I buy it by the yard.

The stripwork jumper is my favorite pattern because it is easy and doesn't take too long and turns out cute and there are a ton of ways to modify it to get a slightly different look. I would definitely recommend it. It is usually my quickest thing to "whip up"

Here's my work for the day. It took approximately 6 hours to do the work. Still need to fray check the ribbon and attach the lace on the hem. Or should I just hem it? What do you think?

I plan on making a peasant top to go with it. Maybe out of gauze or batiste.

Thanks, I think I will give it a try. A few pages back there was a beautiful jumper with Tinkerbell on top. I have an Aurora pillowcase so I was thinking of trying it with her. First I need to finish the projects I have started.

Oh my - I am doomed! I just can't keep up! Here is the pic of the outfit I made for Emma for her birthday tomorrow. I couldn't help but include the one of her rolling her eyes at me! This is the YCMT peasant top - I used the long sleeved pattern but had to add at least 4 inches on it to make it that way. Anyone else have that problem?

That is great fabric and she looks adorable in it!!
