Hi Everyone,

Has anyone ever added a ruffle to a pair of knit pants/leggins? If so, would you mind sharing how?

Thanks so much, Wendy

Sally, what pattern is that? I've always liked those skirts!

It's a simplicity Halloween pattern #3836. There is a poodle skirt and a waitress short skirt. The slip is separate, but I attatched it to the skirt. Some of them, I made the outer skirt shorter so you could see the netting.

:scared1: :scared1: OMG are you kidding me??? He just DELETES all the pictures???? Wow, you guys need to show him again how to get the pictures off the camera or just do it for him. Doesn't your sister live next door?? (Can you tell pictures mean the world to me??? :lmao: :cheer2:
He doesn't always let us know he is going to do this! He just tells us AFTERWARDS!!! It REALLY upsets my Mom!

I think, Heather might have shown him how to do it now, but I'm not sure.

Mine is taking forever to load too and I have DSL.
Good, so it's not just me!! I hate being alone!

Thanks for the compliments! The Hannah Montana jeans are by rae*danae. (I wasn't sure if I could post her id here or not the first time.)

I love coming and drooling over this thread! :cool1:

Thanks!! They have let us, and told me that we could post usernames. We can't post links to the auctions though. If they say you did something wrong, just point your finger at me, and say, "She told me to!!" ;)

These minnie dot pants where the first custom Disney item I ever sewed!!! (I did some sewing before that but merely for Halloween costumes...no need to share those...hahahha) Oh and I "Disneyfied" the shirt too by ironing on some letters and Minnie!!!

Anyway, here she is meeting Minnie Mouse for the very first time!!!!

She wasn't so sure about Goofy at first!

Awww, what sweet pictures!!!! Thanks for posting these Beth!!!!

wow! I can't believe that I finally got caught up on all the posts! This tread is flyin!
Everyone has beautiful things that they've created!!!

This is a question for the mods.....Is there any way possible to get a seperate forum just for the boutiquers? I think it would be much easier to stay on top of things. One thread for all the creations and then another thread for all the questions. I dunno. Just a suggestion. I find it hard to have time to read everything that has been posted to this thread.

Were these all on clearance in Kilgore? Are they closing the fabric department there? I don't think I'm gonna be able to get there today (have a viewing tonight, and a funeral in the morning). The soonest I can get there is tomorrow afternoon. I hope they have some left by the time I get there.

I wish I would have thought to post or pm you this morning that I was going. It was spur of the moment though. Yes everything was on clearance. The swirls was 2 a yard. The Star Warz was too but I bought it all. The only other ones that I did not buy all they had left was the whales and the green and the camo. Everything I did not buy all of was 2 dollars a yard other than the frosty. There were still a ton of fabrics over there. They have a table the size of the store on Gilmer road if that helps you know how much they have there. There were LOTS of checks but I did not know what I would do with them and they were pretty lightweight. They are NOT closing thier fabric department. She said last year they had talked about it but had decided not to because it does so well.

Hi Beth! Nice to see you here again! Thanks for checking on us!

Is it just me though, or does this not really give us much information about what is going on?

Beth, do you know if the bookmarks to the old thread will still be valid? Or, will I have to refind everything to bookmark the directions and things? :scared1:

Hi Teresajoy! I'm not sure about that. I'll try to find out an answer. Were there specific bookmarks on that thread you wanted to know about?

Thanks for the kind words teresajoy and Heather Sue!

I like the thread the way it is personally. I'm sure I would get use to it if they changed it, but I really like the family feeling we have had going on here for the past year. :grouphug:

I tend to wait it out, but then again, a "ton" of fabric for me is probably literal. ;)

No, seriously, I have a lot of fabric I just don't remember if I prewashed or not, so I wash everything when I am goign to use it.

I love the camo set...and what a wonderful dh! I don't have one, but everyone that I know who has one loves theirs.!

So wait...you have a DH but he isnt wonderful??? :confused3

I am all thumbs when it comes to bows - those came from ebay. I think there a directions in the bookmarks for the same style bows - just make them the size you want?

Try this link for the bow, it's similar.

Thanks again for the link... I love the bows....too bad I am a terrible bow maker! ;)

CUTE! What size is it??? with the luck we've had the last three weekends at Disney in the rain we could use it! ;)

here's a quick pic of DD in her "minnie ate the zoo" dress - which I think looked better on than laying on my messy bed. And one of DS and Lilo just cause it's cute!

It is adorable! We just watched the movie Lilo and Stitch for the first time this weekend. We had it on video but for some reason we never watched it. It was a cute movie ;)

Thank you everyone for your help with my shorts. I spent some quality time with my seam ripper after putting the kids to bed DH says that I should start a sewing blog to journal my progress, and I have to put that picture on there so I can look back one day and laugh at it. LOL Anyway, here's the final product....

Great job! It came out just perfect! :cool1: I am not as detailed oriented as some people so I don't bother matching patterns but I suppose if one wanted to you could.

I just want to say everyone here is so absolutely talented! After reading through your post, I wanted to share with you something I made.

Wow I really like this. Is it "fuzzy" or raggedy around the squares or is it just the photo? If I plan a trip for you, will you make me one?? :rotfl2: j/k

Just thought I would share a few pictures from our December 2006 trip. Here is my little one with the jeans I painted. I knew it is not a "true" sewing project though I did sew the white fur on the bottom. Hahahaha. :lovestruc

Wow the customs came out great.   ..I love the fur cuff too. How long does it take you to paint them??

I wanted to let everyone know that I heard from pixiedust_in_ak today (Amy). I know quite a few of us were worried about her since she hadn't posted in awhile. She says that she has been under the weather for awhile, but the baby is doing fine. She's due in about 6 weeks!

Hopefully, she starts feeling better soon!
I am so glad you posted this cause I was wondering what happened to Amy....I know she was away and came back and that was it. Glad to hear the good news about the baby. I see she is reaching the "fun" part of the pregnancy.....those dreadful last 6 weeks. :rolleyes1

Yay I managed some sewing today.

I love the way the tulle is knotted at the top of the band. How did u make it come out so neatly. It looks almost like a double layer at the band??? Mine was a mess.:rotfl:

This calls for some pictures!:rotfl:
She's 10 months old in these pictures:
She's getting ready to try to climb the stairs for the 100th time that day in the last picture.
There are so many more where these came from, but you get the idea of how busy she was, and at a young age!!

Heather I love the great pics of all the business. What a great collection! I love the part in your siggy about your DH....I should put that in mine. I tried to convert him but alas he thinks Disney is one expensive rip-off. :scared: :sad2:

Hi Teresajoy! I'm not sure about that. I'll try to find out an answer. Were there specific bookmarks on that thread you wanted to know about?

Thanks for the kind words teresajoy and Heather Sue!

In my bookmarks, I had bookmarked many specific posts from the old thread that included instructions and things. Now, all those bookmarks aren't working.

I haven't because I'm scared. I tried one time. I couldn't figure out how to rip out the seam without tearing the fabric. I guess you could make a ruffle and then just sew it on the top?

wow! I can't believe that I finally got caught up on all the posts! This tread is flyin!

There are some that like it better this way. I created a board. I will keep it in case we want to use it. Here is the link

http://disboutiquers.proboards106.com/index.cgi

I personally prefer a board set up. However, it's not much fun talking to myself.

Ladies I have a question about fabric. When you buy a ton what do you do? Do you wash it then or just wait it out?

I go in spurts. Sometimes, I can't stand it and wash it all. Sometimes I let it sit. I do keep my washed fabrics separate from my unwashed fabrics so I know for sure before I start working if it needs to be washed or not.

I am here too, I have to catch up though. DD 6 came down with MRSA and had been on antibiiotics for 2 wks. Then my mother who lives with us ended up in the hospital because she was in pain and we didn't know why, turns out my 77 yr old diabetic mom had an open wound on her leg and never said anything and now she is in the hospital with a wound vac on and will likely need one more surgery, she too has MRSA we think she had it first and let it go. A word of caution to you all if you have a mark on you that you THINK is a spider bite, or a boil, GO TO THE DR get it checked. I hope the rest of you are doing well. Good to have a new home I guess.
Lori

Lori, I'm sure you were very scared! I'm so glad that dd is much better and I hope your dm recovers quickly as well.

I love that! Does she have the Alice Crocs?

I have most of those fabrics in the Little Einstein outfit! Lydia wants me to make her a CLOWN outfit [[[[[[[[[shudder]]]]]]]]]] I'm asceared of clowns!!

Nope those aren't Alice crocs, just ballet shoes. LOL about the clowns!!

Yes, but how do you feel about cotton balls?

Cotton balls have no effect on me! ~ AND Pierre is so cute!!!

Did you paint her jeans??

The Ariel jeans are appliqued.

Cute! That's the shirt from DISdesigns right? I love the whole outfit together.

Have we seen this close up? I can't remember. It is great and now you are number one!

The Nemo shirt is from the DISign thread, and I don't think I've shown a closeup of the cleaning dress... let me find it.

Is that an applique of rocket, or an iron-on?
Iron-on

Jasmine outfit is very very cool - l love it - is that one of those redondo skirts???

Yep, it's the spiral twirl skirt from ycmt.com

Nice shopping trip!!

Adorable!!

Ladies I have a question about fabric. When you buy a ton what do you do? Do you wash it then or just wait it out?

I wash mine right away so I don't have to think later "did I wash that or not?"

I agree - just like they did for the CreativeDisign group...

I tend to wait it out, but then again, a "ton" of fabric for me is probably literal. ;)

No, seriously, I have a lot of fabric I just don't remember if I prewashed or not, so I wash everything when I am goign to use it.

The trick is to take it out of the dryer, then kind of wad it up into a big ball. Then, it will be all wrinkled and it is very easy to tell that you have washed it allready!

Happy to help! :thumbsup2

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

LMAO I was going to say I can always tell my washed fabric pretty sad huh? Besides doesn't your fabric get all stringy on the end when you wash it? Am I doing something wrong that is causing that?

Well I did it! That's right I have accomplished a sewing goal today!! I'm trying to post the pictures of the dresses and the shirts, but I can't do it. I tried to load them on the photobucket, but apparently I'm to numb in the head after a day of sewing to figure it out. Does anyone have another way to load pictures onto this site?

First off it's great to know that someone else shares my laundry philosophy! Once I have washed my fabric it takes about 5 times the amount of space on a shelf as is did before it was washed!

A question? - Have any of the boutique sewers on this thread had any experience with Etsy? If you have could you please pm me???? I have some questions, but I don't want to get in trouble!
