Pooh outfit complete...finally... The shorts are a little bulky in the crotch but hopefully they'll look fine on. I just want to move on to the next Disney trip outfit. I'll post pics in the morning of Violette in it.

Here it is on her:

friendspeasanttop.jpg

It did turn out a little shorter then I wanted. What do you think? This is pressed at a 1/4" hem so I could do a 1/8" and give it a little more length.

Looks great!!! I am also afraid of ruffles. How about adding a strip of coordinating fabric at the bottom?

And I bet if you jump up and down yelling for them to pick your child :rolleyes1 they might pick that "boy with the excitable parent" :confused3 Not that I'd know anything about that.

Jeanne! You are funny!!! Luke sure made a cute Luke!!!

That is so cute!!! I can't wait to see it on Violette!!!

And, I lost the quote, but Lisa, I LOOOOVE that pirate Minnie!!! So cute!!!!

And, a shameless plug of my own

TRIP REPORT UPDATE!!!!!

Thanks for all the kind words! I really love the close-up/large scale appliques. Getting to do the Pirate Minnie was a lot of fun, too. The only problem was all the "gold coins" because I really don't like sewing with metallic thread. It always seems to break even when I loosen the tension. Anyone have tips on working with that kind of thread?

BTW - I just finished tees to coordinate with Pirate Minnie. It was another fun one but a lot more detail than I'd considered. Once it was done and I could see it, I was glad I did the detail... although a small treasure chest would have been cool to add. :)

pirate_mickey1.jpg

As for the Star Wars costumes, I tried to explain who Minnie was supposed to be. She's never seen any of the movies and kept thinking I was talking about Star Tours (she loved that ride). We did get to watch part of one Jedi Academy session but since Leia isn't part of that, I don't think she gets the connection.

Speaking of our trip, here are a few photos:

I usually look at the other markings like the difference between the size 3 and 4. and that's how I tell how much to add to the pattern. So if there is a half inch difference between the size 3 and size 4 markings on the pattern, just cut the fabric that much larger than the size 4. Clear as mud..right..LOL

Check and see how much difference there is between the 3 & 4. If is is less than a 1/4" then you could sew the size 4 with a 1/4"seam instead of the usual 5/8" that store bought patterns call for and it should be closer to a 5.

I did not see if anyone answered you so....here is what I would do get some patternease (BTY at Joann's or Walmart) to draw out your pattern on..it is thin enough to see the pattern lines. when drawing the new pattern lines for the size 5 use the difference between the size 3 and size 4 to draw the new lines for the size 5....Make sense?...Nana

Thank you all for all your help! I thought I was going to be able to start this this week, but it will have to wait until next week. DD's birthday isn't until 6/27, so I have a little bit of time:scared1:

Update on Barbara: As you know, I was just on the phone with Heather, she had just gotten off the phone with our brother, David.

Barbara is up and walking around already! I coulnd't believe it! Heather is going up there tonight after Henry gets home. It looks like they are planning on her coming home tomorrow. :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

THis is great news! Glad she came through it so well!

Everyone posted such nice outfits yesterday, there isn't enough room to post them all!

I know I am missing and forgetting things, sorry, I am a little distracted because this is what my child looked like when she got off the bus:

th_IMG_0542.jpg

Both front teeth came out! No more cute baby smile. :(

Oh, my! She looks cute. Heidi (6) has no loose teeth. She checks all the time and is a bit disappointed. Most of her friends have lost at least one.

YEAH!!!! What great news! Keep us updated on her progress.

Here is the outfit that I have been working on for days. I know that Rara has been waiting forever to see this. It is a M2M gymbo. The shirt is gymbo and I am going to make Russell a matching shirt and pants. Well here it is.
47b8db09b3127ccec46c59c3f47700000045138AcNmjZwzcNQe3nwc

Very cute! I love patchwork skirts, but they take so long, especially the ruffling of them!

Ok, I got this finished today. I'm sure it's a CASE, but not sure who from. I remember seeing a similar fabric (maybe identical, I don't know) and liking it. Finally decided to pull it off the shelf and make something from it.

I call this "Ode to Carla C" It is the Simply Sweet dress, easy fit pants & portrait peasant top.

First modeled (because I have to brag!).

th_sewingcreations002.jpg

I love this. The green is so pretty.

:listen: Is this guy new? I don't recall seeing him before. Anyhoo The Fancy Nancy outfit is done! Well, with the exception of accessories! Ella was THRILLED (even though she doesn't look it in the pics.) Oh, and for the record - I'm not apologizing for her hair, I'm EXPLAINING that she was fresh up from a nap, so it's a little disheveled, to say the least.

th_IMG_8737.jpg

Great job! It looks exactly like her outfit.

Wow, so many cute items shared!

I still don't have our vacation photos edited to share. I've been so busy since we got back but hopefully I'll have time this weekend. I doubt I'll do a trip report, though, so my post here will have to do... when I'm ready. LOL

Anyway, as I said I've been busy. Here's some of what I've been working on.

BTW - Yes, 2 of the sets are similar to ones I've shared before although the mom I made these for wanted shorts rather than capris. Once I get our vacation photos ready, I'll be able to actually share photos with Zoe in her sets. It's probably the last time I'll get her to wear such outfits on a Disney trip. :-(

Your daughter is SUCH a cutie!!! What a little fashionista!! Did y'all get stopped every five seconds with comments on the outfits?!

I love the coordinating Nemo outfits!!! My step son is a Bruce fanatic!!!

you are very very talented!! I'm so glad you love Disney!! Talent should not be wasted on Non Disney pursuits!;)

thanks so much for sharing!! Started my busy day out with a smile!!!:goodvibes

Could anyone tell me where to find Marie fabric? I have a grand daughter that loves Marie and I havn't seen any anywhere.

The new creations are fantastic! You are all so talented. I love looking at all you have made for inspiration.

WOW! Lisa, they're stunning! Really! Stunning! I so want to be like you when I grow up!

I love them Lisa! That shy Minnie is one of my all time favs!

Not to be snotty or anything...:rolleyes1 but he was kinda named for Luke Skywalker (he often tells me his middle name is Skywalker--it's not) and he does kinda look like a baby Luke Skywalker...this was a few days after his 5th birthday. I would love to make him a Jedi robe. And I really like Jedi Training Academy much better at Disneyland than at Disneyworld. There is just a lot more breathing room and it is a better setup. And I bet if you jump up and down yelling for them to pick your child :rolleyes1 they might pick that "boy with the excitable parent" :confused3 Not that I'd know anything about that.

This is precious! Luke was a perfect Luke! What a memorable experience.

I love the matching Nemo outfits - so precious!

As always, GREAT work!

I am loving the big appliques and Zoe is adorable in them all!
Keep up the great work ladies.
I'm just making bows. But someday...... maybe I'll figure out how to get the red thread out of my sewing machine- I can only sew red right now- so I made a ladybug costume, A fireman shirt*badly I might add, and a blanket. Oh and a lobster claw for a costume.

Now I just need to make the accessories and figure out the party decorations and cake!

ETA: I should add that the skirt is the wrap skirt from YCMT and the top is Carla's peasant top, but shirred instead of elastic casing.

This is spot on perfect! I love it.

My model finally woke up. She was somewhat cooperative...kinda...lol...

She has got to be the cutest thing ever. I love the pants, they really finish off teh otfit perfect. Her pigtails are so stinkin cute!

Absolute perfection! Great job, the skirt looks like it was made for that shirt. I have gymbo shirts I plan on trying that with, I hope they come out half as good as yours. Love the little goldfish!

1) I think it would look perfect with a searsucker. I did my pillowcase peasant top with searsucker:

100_2212.jpg

Thanks Steph! I bought the shirt in a 2T just because it was the only size they had. I had this exact shirt in my head that I was going to make to go with the skirt but I needed to find the vinal. Now I still do because I want Russell to have a matching shirt.

Thta outfit is so great! I am a sucker for searsucker.:rotfl2:

That is just too cute!! I saw that Pooh fabric at Wal-Mart the other day and I was really thinking about getting it. The dress that Eyeore4Ever made for her DD was just too cute and now you go and make this one. I might have to go pick up some of this fabric.

Thanks to all of those who complimented Megan's outfit and the purse. It means a lot to me!

Here it is on her:

th_friendspeasanttop.jpg

That turned out great! I've found that I have to add a lot of length to the pattern too. I think yours looks fine. What's your next project?

I love it! I adore bright colors and that daisy trim is so cute

I am getting ready to finally use my YCMT portrait peasant top for the first time - any sizing suggestions for me??? Just wondering if you shortened here, or lengthened there. I am trying to figure out what size I want o make. DD would measure about a 3/4 by the measurements given, and is wearing about a 5/6 in store bought clothing. I made a 5/6 of the "other" peasant top and it was a bit small. Anyhoo - thanks for any advice!
Oh - also - do you think it would be cute with a searsucker type material??? Next Friday is Hawaiian day at school and I have a pretty floral pink searsucker here on hand. Thanks again ladies!

You've probably gotten a bunch of great answers by now, but I want to stress that I have found that I need to add a lot of length to this pattern - like 4 or 5 inches. DD is still pretty particular about making sure her belly stays covered. As far as size, I think it runs pretty true to store bought sizes.

Well, okay then... hi there! :wave2: I'm Adrienne, and I'm a wanna-be seamstress. I've created some amazingly beautiful outfits - dresses, capris, blouses, twirl skirts... in my mind. In reality, my creations have thus far been limited to eleventy billion pairs of elastic-waist pajama pants and The Denim Jumper That Is Not To Be Mentioned.

Welcome!

What a cutie!! I love the hat and the striped pants!

Here's my practice dress with practice fabric. I like the dress, except it is not so modest for my DD9. How can I make something else dressy out of this using this fabric. (I only have a little bit uncut)?
th_DSC01578.jpg
th_DSC01575.jpg

Another boy/girl matching set. The boys will have blue dress pants. The short still needs buttons and a hem. What color buttons would you use?
th_DSC01573.jpg

I like the suggestion of cutting off the bodice and starting over. What about the criss cross top/dress that a couple of the girls have done recently? You could do one side with what you have left for fabric and use a coordinate for the other side. It also looks like you could easily attach it to the skirt/dress you already have.

I'm glad to see that crossbacked top on an older girl. I picked up the pattern for DD, but she's not sure she likes it. I may make one up in cheap fabric anyway.

The nautical outfits are cute. I say red buttons on the shirts would pull out the red button on your dd's top.

Eek! Me try a ruffle??? :rotfl: I guess I could try but I would have to use the same fabric since I do not have anything to coordinate with it.

Okay, I don't know if anyone has replied to this, as I was like 75 pages behind, and could only "skim" but there are very easy pre-made ruffles you can buy. It's sold by the yard and comes in lots of colors. It looks great, and would probably give you an extra inch!

So I can' multi quote that many pages, but some did stick out in my mind..

Elisa...I love that EIEIO outfit in greens from a while ago on Ireland. I am a sucker for farm stuff, and I love how it's different colors.

The Donald Duck sailor top was precious.

I loved the green floral outfit with daisy trim...both versions!

The multi princess outfit for the big give is super cute!

I thought the boys pj's were a great idea!

so many cute things!!!! Sorry if I 've missed some:)
