how hard is it to make bows? I need to figure out what to put in DD #1 who will be 5 when we go.
I actually got some good tips from this site. http://bowdesigns.50webs.com/loopy_surround.html
Here is the story, as it was told to me:

Megan: "I lost the first one on the pwaygwound. I didn't know until we came in. Alexandra told me.

"When I was getting on the bus, the other one was coming out so Miss Dawn (the aide who rides the bus) took me to the nurse's office and she pulled it out and put it in a bag. Look at all the bwood in my mouth!"

Mom: :faint: (her mouth was very bloody)

1) She lost them both today, see above for the play by play. One was barely hanging on so I was ready for it to come out, it was just dangling and grossing her father out (he is easily grossed out) but I am not sure judging by the amount of blood if the second one was really ready or the nurse helped it out. I guess there's no going back now!

That looks perfect. Of course I have not started mine but I think little mouse ears would match what I am planning. Thanks so much!
EEww on the story!!

My DH is easily grossed out too. He can't clean up doggy accidents at all. Someone blowing thier nose grosses him out too.

I will make the mouse ears. I think that I will make them a little smaller than when I made Jenna's.

OK, all this talk about calling Megan "Fang" reminded me of baby Ella. I have to share. We used to call her Fang when her teeth were coming in. Caleb would get so mad! He'd say "don't call her Fang! Her name is Ewwa!" So, being the mean parents we are, we'd keep calling her Fang just to see him get all worked up - it was so funny!

fang2.jpg
AAAWWWW!!! How cute and what an odd way for her teeth to come in. I have never seen teeth come in that way before.

So sorry I haven't been around much: this is the last week of school and it is crazy!

1) Praying for H & T's SIL: hope all goes well. Teresa, I'm so sorry about your cat. I was hoping he would come back by now.

2) Amy, your peasant top looks great! I like them a little longer and ruffles really aren't that hard. You could also get a ruffle already ruffled in the trim section of the fabric store.

3) Elisa, your baby mickey and minnie outfit is so cute! I am a little afraid to show things off too now, so I sympathize.

4) Megan loves Fancy Nancy so I can't wait to see the outfit. I can't show Megan though or she will demand one of her own.

I know I am missing and forgetting things, sorry, I am a little distracted because this is what my child looked like when she got off the bus:

IMG_0542.jpg

Both front teeth came out! No more cute baby smile. :(

EEEEWWWW Teeth - loose or missing I just can't handle it - they seriously give me the heebie jeebies!!! I can deal with broken bones - but not loose teeth!!! My DD is five and she says she doesn't want to lose her teeth.

I had to giggle when I saw this!

:listen: Is this guy new? I don't recall seeing him before. Anyhoo The Fancy Nancy outfit is done! Well, with the exception of accessories! Ella was THRILLED (even though she doesn't look it in the pics.) Oh, and for the record - I'm not apologizing for her hair, I'm EXPLAINING that she was fresh up from a nap, so it's a little disheveled, to say the least.

Now I just need to make the accessories and figure out the party decorations and cake!

ETA: I should add that the skirt is the wrap skirt from YCMT and the top is Carla's peasant top, but shirred instead of elastic casing.

Just looking up Fancy Nancy and I have to say she's my Emily - I have been calling Em Punky Brewster - for awhile now - but Im thinking Fancy Nancy it is... she went to school today in a too short strawberry shortcake custom I bought about 2 years ago on eBay and velor (it was 90 TODAY!!!!!!) princess pants underneath... oh and I forgot to mention the princess sandals with the strap over the toe :confused3 Leave it to my kid to look like this!

I have been working on a few new outfits for DD and DS will post them after our little mini (gasp non-disney) vacation this weekend - we're going to Gatorland, Lion King, the FL Aquarium, the Science Center and to watch the shuttle go up! Oh and we MAY hit Disney on Sunday! :)

My Jenna wants me to make her dress that is purple, red and hot pink. :scared1: I asked her how I was supposed to that and she said, "you can figure it out. You're good at sewing." :rotfl: She knows how to suck up don't she.

So CUTE!!!!!

We called Morgan "snaggletooth" for awhile. She had 4 top front teeth:rotfl2: . The baby ones did not want to let go and the adult teeth were coming in. She got mad when she found out she was Like "Bruce" from Nemo with rows of teeth LOL.

My Jenna wants me to make her dress that is purple, red and hot pink. :scared1: I asked her how I was supposed to that and she said, "you can figure it out. You're good at sewing." :rotfl: She knows how to suck up don't she.

aaaah, WELCOME to MY world!!!!! For a year all Morgan would wear was orange and purple and I had to make them all LOL

Megan is SO cute. She has that pose DOWN!! This is one of my favorite outfits!!

Yes, they are very obstinate about that growing up stuff. Megan told me that Scrappy can be my little baby because she was a big girl now! :scared1: I told DH I was going to start dressing him up in baby clothes and wheel him around the neighborhood in Megan's stroller and people would call me "that dog lady" with one eyebrow raised. He was not impressed and suggested I get a job instead.

You KNOW that Scrappy would love the play the part of the baby...I don't know how he'd feel about the baby clothes though...there may be some angry biting...and dirty looks. BJ is the KING of reproachful looks! He is NOT a fan of Halloween costumes...or clothes in general...as Teddy says, "BeauJack likes to be just naked!" How like a male... :rotfl2:

Here is the story, as it was told to me:

Megan: "I lost the first one on the pwaygwound. I didn't know until we came in. Alexandra told me.

Mom: :faint: (her mouth was very bloody)

good gravy...why would the nurse just yank her poor tooth out?! Sounds like Megan is a trooper though!!

2) I will definitely have to call her fang! Wait, is that from Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing? I loved that book!

3) Why yes it is! She had a poolside playdate this afternoon. :)

4) I won't, I am just kicking the dirt a little and pouting. Bullies just make me so mad! We have one in the PTA right now and she just sent me an e-mail instructing me how to do the minutes (I am the secretary) which I have been doing for two years now rather satisfactorily I thought. Grrr!

Okay I LOVE it that you got the Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing reference!! One of my all time favorite childhood books!!!:thumbsup2

very CUTE rashguard!! I was thinking of getting it for Sally, but she's recently been anti-pictures on shirts!:confused3

I don't like bullies either. It's frustrating that adults are really no better than kids when it comes to a pack mentality or trying to take credit for showing you how to do something you already know how to do!!!:rolleyes2 makes a girl want to throw things! :duck: :lmao: love that smiley!!!

fang2.jpg

Oh my gosh, that picture is SO darling!!! And "Ewwa":lmao: too cute!!

My DD6 pulled her own bottom tooth out yesterday with tweezers! Talk about bloody. And I DID forget to leave her money. She got up this morning and her tooth was gone but no cash. I distracted her and my husband hid it under her toothpaste tube in the bathroom. When she found it we told her the tooth fairy wanted to make sure she brushes her teeth. I searched all through her bed today but could not find that little tooth.

my mom found me in the bathroom once...blood pouring from my mouth and down my arm as I tried to yank a tooth out that was NOT ready to come...I was feeling impatient as I had my eye on a new book I wanted...I needed some cash!:confused3 :lmao:

Ok, I got this finished today. I'm sure it's a CASE, but not sure who from. I remember seeing a similar fabric (maybe identical, I don't know) and liking it. Finally decided to pull it off the shelf and make something from it.

I call this "Ode to Carla C" It is the Simply Sweet dress, easy fit pants & portrait peasant top.

First modeled (because I have to brag!).

But since it's blurry, here's the dress form shot

Your AbbyGrace is SO beautiful!!!:goodvibes I love the dress! You did a great job on it!!!:thumbsup2

Shannon, that is adorable!!! It's good to see a picture of Abby Grace! What a beautiful girl!
Well, okay then... hi there! I'm Adrienne, and I'm a wanna-be seamstress. I've created some amazingly beautiful outfits - dresses, capris, blouses, twirl skirts... in my mind. In reality, my creations have thus far been limited to eleventy billion pairs of elastic-waist pajama pants and The Denim Jumper That Is Not To Be Mentioned.

Hi Adrienne!!! Welcome to our little thread! Now, let's see some picture of the Denim Jumper That Is Not To Be Mentioned!

:listen: Is this guy new? I don't recall seeing him before. Anyhoo The Fancy Nancy outfit is done! Well, with the exception of accessories! Oh my goodness Lori!!!! That is spot on!!!! WONDERFUL!!!! And, it ALSO earned the Lydia Rose Seal Of Approval!!! :thumbsup2
 Teresajoy and HeatherSue,

Glad to hear about your SIL.

Thanks Cindee!!!

Have you heard anything new about your aunt?

My model finally woke up. She was somewhat cooperative...kinda...lol...
th_013-3-1.jpg
Oh my goodness!!! How absolutely adorable!!!!

I am getting ready to finally use my YCMT portrait peasant top for the first time - any sizing suggestions for me??? Just wondering if you shortened here, or lengthened there. I am trying to figure out what size I want o make. DD would measure about a 3/4 by the measurements given, and is wearing about a 5/6 in store bought clothing. I made a 5/6 of the "other" peasant top and it was a bit small. Anyhoo - thanks for any advice!
Oh - also - do you think it would be cute with a searsucker type material??? Next Friday is Hawaiian day at school and I have a pretty floral pink searsucker here on hand. Thanks again ladies!

When Heather and I made the shirts for the girls, we went by the chest measurments and they all came out great! It's meant to be an empire waist, so you will want to lengthen it. It's a fantastic pattern.

Here's my practice dress with practice fabric. I like the dress, except it is not so modest for my DD9.http://
I would make it into a skirt too. Your daughter looks really cute!! I like her poses! Some great attitude going on there!

I just did thoe sleeves on the siply sweet jumper for dd, and I love them too. Super frilly and feminine.
I love those too!

HeatherSue- This is the ribbon and accessories that I have for the bows to match your outfit that you are making. Please let me know if these will match.
S2010231.jpg

No, that just won't do.... but....I'll take them off your hands for yah! :thumbsup2

What? You aren't falling for it? shoot! Those would look so cute with Lyddy's animal Kingdom dress! They are going to be adorable

Yes, they are very obstinate about that growing up stuff. !

Hey look! It's that crazy dog lady!!! :rotfl2:

Love the story of Megan's tooth! Except the part when the nurse yanked it out! :scared1:

Thank you all for the nice compliments! I really really appreciate it. It makes me want to sew more and more because I can't wait to show all of you!
That's the main reason I sew too!!! :lmao:
OK, all this talk about calling Megan "Fang" reminded me of baby Ella. I have to share. We used to call her Fang when her teeth were coming in. Caleb would get so mad! He'd say "don't call her Fang! She's got yah, doesn't she!

Thanks to everyone for all the prayers and well wishes for Barbara!!!

With all this talk about Fancy Nancy I decided to see what all was available in the world of Fancy Nancy. I found this page if anyone is interested in printing it out for thier Fancy child.
http://www.harpercollinschildrens.c...rensimages/Printable/FancyNancyPaperDolls.pdf

Oh wow, that is so cool! Thanks for finding that! Now, I need to get a printer working!

my mom found me in the bathroom once...blood pouring from my mouth and down my arm as I tried to yank a tooth out that was NOT ready to come...I was feeling impatient as I had my eye on a new book I wanted...I needed some cash!:confused3 :lmao:

You know I was thinking about you when I read that!:rotfl:

I love all of the new stuff the last few days. I am totally impressed at the speed you all seem to have. I am SO slow.

I have barely had a chance to get on here and look, so I have to go back and see all the great stuff I missed.

My washer went out a few days ago and I have had to go to the laundry mat several times. Laundry mat + 4 kids = :scared1: It has not been fun.

Theresa and Heather- I am so glad to hear your SIL is doing so well. That is an answer to prayer. I will continue to pray for a speedy recovery.

Here is the outfit that I have been working on for days. I know that Rara has been waiting forever to see this. It is a M2M gymbo. The shirt is gymbo and I am going to make Russell a matching shirt and pants. Well here it is.
47b8db09b3127ccec46c59c3f47700000045138AcNmjZwzcNQe3nwc

I love this outfit. I have the same shirt in my online gymbo cart. Now I have to get it :)

That is soooo cute. Ella looks just like the real Fancy Nancy :)

Hi Everyone,

Questions for those with American Girl Dolls or Bitty Babies.....I'd love to get Eliz and Hannah one for their birthdays in a few weeks, but I cant afford to get the real thing as much as I'd like to. So, does anyone know of something simliiar that could wear the same clothes and stuff as the AGD or BB does???? I was thinking it would be so cute to have their outfits (I got some cupcake fabric from Joanns) match their doll's outfits....any advice??

I got Katie on of the dolls from Target. She has held up really well. I have even had to wash her hair several times since Katie likes to put "product" in it. :scared1:

Yes, they are very obstinate about that growing up stuff. Megan told me that Scrappy can be my little baby because she was a big girl now! :scared1: I told DH I was going to start dressing him up in baby clothes and wheel him around the neighborhood in Megan's stroller and people would call me "that dog lady" with one eyebrow raised. Megan looks adorable with no teeth!!! It is so sad when they start to grow up. I keep telling mine I am looking for A stop-growing potion and I am going to keep them little forever. They of course say no. They want to grow up.

BTW- I love how you imitate her talking.

My little guy Justin has no front teeth right now. I call him the Toothless Wonder :) Justin also changes a lot of letter sounds to W. Cute story...

I was grading Justin’s phonics test where he had to say the name of the pictured item and then circle the letter under it that said the sound of the first letter in the word. There is a picture of a rose with an R and an N under it. Justin had crossed out the R and N wrote a W and circled it. I called him over and asked why he did that and he said...

"Mom! This book is WONG. That is a Wa, Wa, Wose and there was no W"! :rotfl2: I about died laughing so hard.

I just wanted to let everyone know Miss. Katie only has her bink in bed now. She also didn’t have it last night at all. She is slowly breaking the habit. It is bitter sweet for me, but I am happy it may be coming to an end without me having to go hard core and just take it from her. Thank for all of the advice. I did want to let all the Binky Fairy suggestions to know I tried this and she just didn’t get it.

I told her the Binky Fairy was going to come take her Binky and give it to babies. She didn’t want her to come in the house so we decided to leave the binky on the porch. At bedtime I had her all ready to go and my DD 10- told her the fairy would leave her some money for the binky. So Katie says "the fairy get my binky... leave me some money.... I going to Target and buy a new binky... Yeah!!!" :rotfl: Crazy girl :)

Well, I better run. Good Night!

So I found this fabric at walmart today.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Disney-Fabric-P...:1|65:1&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14#ebayphotohosting
I am going to make dresses for my 2 DD's it looks easy it will be my first thing to sew. I need to decide if I want to do the straps with ribbon and find some ribbon to match or use the extra material from DD #2's dress to make straps for. I am considering going back and getting some to make me a top to match. What do you all think?
Those will be so cute!

What? You aren't falling for it? shoot! Those would look so cute with Lyddy's animal Kingdom dress! They are going to be adorable
That is what we say in our family. Especially when my grandpa barbeques. It's so good we tell him it's no good and that we will take it off of his hands. :lmao:

Wow, so many cute items shared!

I still don't have our vacation photos edited to share. I've been so busy since we got back but hopefully I'll have time this weekend. I doubt I'll do a trip report, though, so my post here will have to do... when I'm ready. LOL

Anyway, as I said I've been busy. Here's some of what I've been working on.

BTW - Yes, 2 of the sets are similar to ones I've shared before although the mom I made these for wanted shorts rather than capris. Once I get our vacation photos ready, I'll be able to actually share photos with Zoe in her sets. It's probably the last time I'll get her to wear such outfits on a Disney trip. :-(

I am also making bows for the BIG GIVE. I was a little late on getting my outfit, so I think all of the Disney one's I can do are taken :)

I have ordered some polymer clay Mickey and Minnie heads from a seller on :wizard: and some more Minnie dot ribbon from ribbons and bows. Please let me know if anyone wants matching bows for outfits you are making. I would be glad to help.

I am also making a non-Disney outfit for the BIG GIVE. I just wanted to sew something:)

I am so excited about this project. I think it is going to be so wonderful.
Thanks for the offer on the bows, so sweet of you too!!! I can't wait to see your outfit for the Big Give!

MY Big Give outfit is in the mail!!!! Yea!!!!

  Ohhh I can't wait for Alicia and Isabelle to get it!

I am totally a neurotic-over planner!!! I see things on here, or hear about things and I just want to do them right now! I don't like things to take long! I will read a book straight through just so I don't have to wait! I think the rain coat might work. I think I found a pattern for a long sleeved collared coat - it's a McCalls childrens, although I can't recall the #. I just hope I bought enough fabric for it. I am so used to buying for baby stuff, that I didn't even think about needing more. I guess I can always buy more later! I got childrens size 3,4 to something. Does everyone think a 3/4 will fit a 2.5 year old??
To make it more water proof I think I am going to use some kind of clear seem sealant on the seems - if there is such a thing. Any ideas?? and what kind of thread would you use on vinyl??
Thanks!!!

Okay I can't wait to see how your raincoat comes out!!! Sounds cool!

I am pretty sure it was your trip report that got me interested in making things for my kids for Disney - the little minnie pants and shirt your DD wore on her first day in MK! Congrats on the new little one and the upcoming adoption. Will that make 3?? I hope you get to go back to WDW. December is the best time!!

Jess
Awwww how cool is that?? I just had to have Minnie pants for her first day ever in the Magic Kingdom. It took me forever and a day to make them too. Hahahaha.

Thanks for the kinds words on our hopefully soon adoption. It actually makes two...just our little girl and our baby boy. Ohh I relaly hope we get to go in December. I just loved that 1st trip. The Christmas decorations, the atmosphere, the lights....all of it is just so magical and really got me in the Christmas spirit!!! :cloud9:

Here it is on her:

friendspeasanttop.jpg

It did turn out a little shorter then I wanted. What do you think? This is pressed at a 1/4" hem so I could do a 1/8" and give it a little more length.

I think that turned out really cute!

I know I am missing and forgetting things, sorry, I am a little distracted because this is what my child looked like when she got off the bus:

OKAY I LOVE how this turned out. So very cute, and that baby of yours is adorable!!

HeatherSue- This is the ribbon and accessories that I have for the bows to match your outfit that you are making. Please let me know if these will match.

Stephres- This is the ribbon that I have for your bows. I was thinking of adding the Mickey bars to them or making them with the Mouse ears like I did for Jenna. Please let me know what you think.
S2010232.jpg

Also I have only had two people ask me to make bows. If anyone else is interested in me making the bows to match thier outfit for the BIG GIVE please let me know. I have four containers of ribbon in about 30 different colors.
WOW, that is awesome and will look cool as bows. Thank you for doing this!!

Here is the story, as it was told to me:

Megan: "I lost the first one on the pwaygwound. I didn't know until we came in. Alexandra told me.

Mom: :faint: (her mouth was very bloody)

:scared1: That is kinda scary....!!! I wouldn't want someone yanking my kids tooth out. YOWSERS!!!

Awww totally ADORABLE!!!:cloud9:

Holy moly, Lisa! Those are absolutely amazing! Love them all! I am fascinated by the huge appliques!

I'm currently working on a Jedi robe for Matt with a Jedi Mickey applique on it.
He's desperate to fight Darth Vader!!
We were in WDW last December and Matt was 3 months shy of 3 yrs old. He really loves Star Wars (thanks to dh) and was devastated that he wasn't chosen to fight Darth Vader. We explained -as best you can to a 2 yr old- that he was just too young. Maybe when he's four, he can have a turn. Well about 30 minutes later he came up and announced "Mummy, I older now. I four! I can fight Darth Vader." For the next 3 months, he insisted to anyone that asked that he was four yrs old! He's determined that when we go to Disneyland in December, that he will go to the Jedi Training academy and tell Darth Vader "You a bad guy!".
I should probably say that he is too young for the movie, of course but dh has had him watching all the cartoons, lego star wars movies and games and has even made him a book with about 200 photos of all the characters. My son is ridiculously star wars literate!!

Here's my practice dress with practice fabric. I like the dress, except it is not so modest for my DD9.

I tried to modify it with the fabric I want to use and now I HATE the dress. I want her to match my boys that will have the same fabric made into shorts with a polo to match. I was hoping to have her wear it to dinner on our cruise. Dress shorts are now allowed. How can I make something else dressy out of this using this fabric. (I only have a little bit uncut)?

Here's another one of her cruise outfits for the daytime.

I love the matching outfits!! For the dress, I would either make the dress into the criss cross dress we've seen here a few times (YCMT pattern), or I would make a twirl skirt out of the fabric (but then, my DD likes everything to twirl, and I think I do too!). If there isn't enough fabric for a twirl, you could do a patchwork twirl and work in some other colors/patterns too. If you're DD doesn't like twirl skirts, maybe more of a flared skirt?

These are all fabulous as usual! I love your fabric combinations... I'm working on a minnie applique just like your closed eyes one (I found it in clip-art), but it isn't nearly as detailed as yours!!

Not to be snotty or anything...:rolleyes1 but he was kinda named for Luke Skywalker (he often tells me his middle name is Skywalker--it's not) and he does kinda look like a baby Luke Skywalker...this was a few days after his 5th birthday. I would love to make him a Jedi robe. And I really like Jedi Training Academy much better at Disneyland than at Disneyworld. There is just a lot more breathing room and it is a better setup. And I bet if you jump up and down yelling for them to pick your child :rolleyes1 they might pick that "boy with the excitable parent" :confused3 Not that I'd know anything about that.
