You CAN find quality lodging for 30 dollars a night...

Oh please, do tell! For our next trip we won a trip to a theatre in Ft. Myers, so airfare is covered (2 for the contest 1 from rewards program), so housing is our biggest budget breaker. I found Motel Studio for $52 a night, but would love $30!

My daughter wears a 10/12 as well and I have made her several peasant tops using a Simplicity Sewing for Dummies pattern. I will go dig it out later to find the pattern #. Stephres has used this too and likes it. I lengthen the pattern though because it seems much too short for my daughter.

It is #4206, it has capris and a twirl skirt so it is perfect for a beginner. It is a little boxy so I agree that you might want to lengthen or add ties for the back.

Thank you so much! :thumbsup2 I am off to Hancock's this morning to get some fabric and supplies.

I also have to buy a new camera! Seems that I or my DH threw it in the trash!:scared1: So, my money that was going towards a new sewing machine now has turned into a camera and a DVD player for the kids!:headache:

I just started sewing for DS2. For our Disney trip he wore mainly Mickey head tees. I have recently discovered CarlaC's easy fit pants on YCMT. It's my favorite pattern!! Here's a few things I've made him to give you some inspiraton...

Please tell where you found the fabric for the crab outfit. We're going on a cruise in Jan and I have been looking for crab fabric for DS22 months. Also what pattern did you use for the hooded tops? I'm always stuck using RTW and doing an applique, but DS6 won't go for that very long.

On the crayon roll ups...I used to make these for gifts for kids and I would use cheap placemats. Most of the sewing is done and all you do is fold 2/3 of the way up and sew your pockets. On the last end, I folded a long shoelace in half and sewed into the end to create the tie. As long as you didn't need the Disney theme they were simple to do. Made for quick cheap gifts. Oh...I would make them for slighlty older kids too with an attached pencil sharpner and color pencils instead of crayons. When I get a new camera I'll post a picture!

We have been so busy.

Jord met the "Sisters" the other day. The kids all had fun playing together. I even got a picture of Jord and Cory. :goodvibes

My dear sweetie bought me a new sewing machine for Mothers Day (and a box set of I Love Lucy :lovestruc ). So I have been trying to rearrange my sewing area. SO far I have found 3 rubbermaid tubs of fabric LOL.

We also went to the preview of the Simpsons ride at Universal. We tried to ride Toy Story Mania and it kept breaking down. But Morgan looked cute in her Potato head outfit LOL.

Hi..When were you there? It was breaking down on us too...so we never got to see it. We were at MGM on Sunday.

This sounds like I would have time to do one like this. Jenna wants something to put her crayons in when we go on our trip.

I would love to see the pencil one: that sounds like a great idea for older kids!

My PSA for the day:

If you buy a Sidewinder be sure to check the bottom of the box to see if it works with your sewing machine model. I bought one for my mom for Mother's Day and we could not figure out why her bobbins would not fit. She looked at it again last night and noticed on the bottom of the box it has a list of machines that it is not compatible with. :headache: Yup, her machine is listed.

Hi, Here are some pictures from our trip.
The 30 dollar a night hotel is called the Howard Johnson Enchantedland. It's not enchanted by any means, but it does come with a coffee pot, microwave, refrig, and free breakfast.

This was the highlight of the day...The pizza place they had lunch, also had their favorite video game. It's like a roller coaster, and you too, for the mere price of 8 quarters can bring smiles to the faces of your dear children.
these are my favorite things at MGM

Well that's it for now..I'm off to do laundry..:headache:

These are sooo cute. Did you design the applique yourself....or is there a fabric panel of the sisters out there somewhere?

I did these by hand. I put the dvd in the computer, stopped it on a pic I liked and used that to cut my pieces.

I made my daughter a crab outfit and it is the same -- it came from JoAnn's. At our store it was placed with the baby/nursery fabric.

Oops...slight modification to the crayon roll ups...when making for crayons, be sure to measure with your crayon on how far to fold up...just remembered that the pencils are the 2/3 of the way up. It has been a little while since I have made them! I remember, depending on the placemat, I would fold up both sides and make double pockets...you really kinda have to judge for the placemat you get.

OMG that is beautiful!!! Jenna would have a fit over this.

Your DS always look so cute weather he is stuck in a bush or in an adorable outfit (or pettiskirt.) Can you hear me snickering? :)

I love this fabric and I just bought the stripes tonight. I remembered you did the crabs but did not realize those were the other fabrics you picked. I am so glad you did. I was worried they would not match but the do perfectly!

ETA- This one is my favorite. . . well I think. :)

Where did you guys get the "big heads around the world" fabric? Or what is it called so I can search it? I just got Lily the cutest It's a Small World t-shirt and I want to make her a skirt to go with it and this fabric would be PERFECT!!!

If you have an embroidery machine, or want to do an applique, you can do a small one where the roll up would close for the disney theme. :thumbsup2

I see it's already been answered, but Joanns had the crab fabric and a lot of coordinates. I found itin the baby/nursery section too. For the hoodie I used a McCall's sweatshirt pattern and just left the sleeves off.

Do you mean this fabric?

It is Alexander Henry's "Smiles around the world" and I think it is out of print. I found it on ebay. It also comes in a pink background.
