Hey Everyone . . .

I am looking for an idea for my DD to carry her pins on. The lanyard gets to heavy in the park so you know who end's up wearing it! LOL I want something that she can see everything and that is easy to get to.

Any ideas?????

What about an apron? or maybe a sash?

I should of mentioned I do not want to cover up her customs. :) :)

A sash might be fun. She did okay with her BBB sash but made me take it off because it was blocking the view of her gown. She is quite the princess. LOL

I think a sash for pis would be a great idea. as long as it did not cover those customs up tooo much! :rotfl:

what about a purse that has a long strap, that folds open to reveal pins

Lori! -Did you go to the one on the Plaza? That's where we went to celebrate Mother's day w/ my in laws! It was crazy busy at 5:30-6pm but delicious!

We went to the one in OP - the plaza one is always crazy busy! The one in OP is sometimes crazy busy, but not quite as bad - plus the parking is easier!

Hi, I am a lurker on here and just love all the customs that I see. I have a 4 yo daughter that I wish I can sew for but I have no clue how to sew. I would love to get myself a cheap sewing machine and start learning. We have a trip plan for October. It will be our first trip.

Welcome to the group! Good luck with the machine. We are here to help if needed.

Someone beat me to it. I was going to say a pocket book. I got the kids a case, like a pocketbook some years ago. It came from DL.

still looking for some advice - anyone?

I use :wizard: alot.

Hi Everyone,

I got some really cute pre shirred princess, tink and ariel fabric at wallyworld this am- did anyone else get some? how much was it at your store?

thanks, wendy

I would love to see pictures. My Walmart did not have any of this the other day. My DD is an Ariel freak right now!

Okay, well I thought of a vest, and the pocket book idea too. Another idea maybe is a hat??? It could strap onto a stroller or back pack, and if it gets really hot, she could remove some bling bows temporarily and put the hat on. I've also seen plain white hats that boys get autographed for this purpose.

And if you made a vest part of her custom for each day and each outfit, she probably wouldn't mind as much:)

why not make a purse with a long lanyard strap and make sure it is long enough to put across her chest (just like a sash)

Got a question for all of you making the peasant top patttern...I need one for my DD9...she likes the top, but she wears a 10/12...is there a pattern for that size? It looks simple...again not a real pattern girl...so I think I could go with it?

Oh! I hope everybody had a great Mother's Day! :goodvibes Mine went well. My best present was my DH cleaning the entire house...including polishing the hardwoods and doing all of the laundry that was left from Friday and Saturday!:lovestruc Nice day off for Mom!:cool1:

My daughter wears a 10/12 as well and I have made her several peasant tops using a Simplicity Sewing for Dummies pattern. I will go dig it out later to find the pattern #. Stephres has used this too and likes it. I lengthen the pattern though because it seems much too short for my daughter.

OMG, I'm so excited because I just scored an old fasioned Sears Kenmore sewing machine, the kind that folds into a table for storage, I got it at the Salvation Army thrift shop for $25!! I can now start sewing for my girls. I'm taking my DS (6) and DD (4) to WDW this summer and would like to make some outfits. Is there anything for boys or just girls? I think I'm goig to have fun hangin' out around here.

Congats on the new machine!!!!! I only have a DD, but I have seen lots posted here for boys that was great!

Megan wears her pins on her hat. Then if she gets too hot she throws it in the bottom of the stroller.

It is #4206, it has capris and a twirl skirt so it is perfect for a beginner. It is a little boxy so I agree that you might want to lengthen or add ties for the back.

These are cute! What a great find!

What a great score on the machine. Have fun sewing. I have found some really cute patterns for boys. Some of them are by Abacadabra and Youcanmakethis.com has a few boy patterns.

Those are so cute. I love making those for Jenna. They are super easy and people think that you spent a lot of time on them. :lmao:

There's a YCMT pattern that's unisex for shorts/pants. Carla C (one of the designers on YCMT has a bowling shirt pattern in the works--also unisex. It's really cute!

If you check out the photobucket account (see the first page of this thread), you can look for ideas for boys. Many people applique t-shirts or RTW shirts for them to coordinate with shirts/pants.

Tons of stuff for girls, as you've undoubtedly noticed.

I'm still waiting for a little one to grow a little bit more before I attempt any customs. I've been sewing most of my life, but don't really want to tackle small infant items at this stage! *LOL*

Finally got my pics uploaded. I finished the portrait peasant dress and the simply sweet dress, plus a crayon organizer. Poor DD has been sick so she doesn't look to happy in the pics...

2 dresses together...she wore for mother's day

These are both so cute! Love them! You're daughter is adorable too!!

I went hunting all day yesterday for fabric to go with the Little Einsteins material. Be honest, what do you think of this combo:

I am planning on doing the criss cross dress from YCMT.

I think this fabric goes together brilliantly!!
I'd love to find some myself. My kids are crazy about those Little Einsteins!

I so need these! They make fabulous pre-school easy outfits, or darling coverups. Plus for my trip in Sept, these would be a great alternative for the stroller for "oops" moments!! I plan on going to Walmart tomorrow in the am! Thanks for the pictures!

Hello Everyone! We're back...yes I know...already? I decided to cut it a day short, and we might go back next weekend..
Here's a few highlights...You CAN find quality lodging for 30 dollars a night...
Walmart flips flops should not be the choice footwear for commando theme parking..Mike and Sully do NOT sign autographs..:scared1: When in doubt...ask...it just might be another Diser...(I ran into one of our own in Pop's food court) And no matter how cute your kids look...:cutie: they still get on your nerves by the end of the day...oh yeah, chocolate milkshakes make for a quiet ride home :rotfl:
I'm exhaused...I will post pictures tomorrow...as Tigger says..TTFN!
