I don't know what to do to make it better. I just want to sit and cry because I feel like such a failure as a parent. I worry that my neighbors think we beat her all night because she screams as if someone is killing her.

I don't have any advice. I just wanted to offer my support. I don't have kids myself, just ones that I'm close to, so I don't know what it's like to not be able to give them back. :upsidedow
I hope to eventually become a stepmother (just don't tell the guy I'm seeing. :rolleyes1 ), so I'll be asking Miss Cammie (CampbellScott) on advice for being the wickedest stepmom. :)

tnmom - I love the Marie outfit! that fabric is so adorable.

jham - Lily is just TOO STEENKIN CUTE! Everytime I see a pic of her I smile.

misty - congrats on 40 pounds! I haven't been keeping up with the peeps thread (or this one), but I just saw your bling!

So I was a little behind so I sorta skimmed the pages!:scared: I saw some very cute things! Love the Marie outfit and the two lemon tops! Very cute! Saw some very pretty cakes that looked really yummy! I keep trying to stay up on this thread but I have decided that it is too difficult so I just can't do everything and I am not going to feel guilty about it!:rotfl:

HEATHER-I am glad to hear that Barbara is going to be able to go on your trip and I hope all goes well with the surgery! Still keeping you guys in my thoughts and prayers!

PRINCESSKELL-Glad to hear about your new vehicle! Gotta love no car payment!:thumbsup2 I am still praying for you and your family! I know everything will work out!

OKAY, one more thing! I love the pettiskirt, but where oh where would I order one from! There are so many stores to get them at I'm not sure which way to go! aNY ADVICE????

Yes, I also was wondering where you are all getting your pettiskirts. I decided I wanted to get Lily one when she is a little older, so I guess that means I'd better order it now? :rotfl:

I was fixin to be wicked yesterday...my step daughter had requested that I put her hair in "pig tail" buns...a little bun on each side of her head. She had seen pictures of me like that in my ballet days and was fascinated by the hair style. She LOVED it. Unfortunately when she went to school one of the boys called her "Princess Leia"...which really hurt her feelings. (She doesn't even know who Princess Leia IS...but she did NOT like being teased!) I don't get it. This child is so self conscious and sensitive. She was crushed.

Anyhow...last night my little step son took the opportunity to tease his sister further about it and whispered that she looked dumb. Too bad his wicked step mama has super human hearing.

Suddenly he found himself yanked from his activity and plopped into BED for the night...at 7pm. He missed playtime and dessert.

Yep...I'm mean.

But I will not have cruelty in my house. Wow...I'm STILL really mad about this.

I have no doubt that my step daughter will NEVER try anything new ever again. Which is so sad in and of itself. She's such an expressive girl. But it's locked up tight now.

GRRRRRRRRRRR

At least I lived up to my wicked reputation...I was starting to fee a little too Mary Poppins...y'know?

HI everyone!

Well good news... I got myself a new car. Well not new, but new to us. Man the price and cars have changed sooo much in the last two weeks, I am just glad I finally got one. My brother picked it up last night and brought it to me tonight. I will have to take a picture tomorrow.

It is a '96 Ford Explorer V8 Limited Ed. Its nearly fully load. But it only has a tape player in it. hehehe So I will in time get a cd player. I mean how else am I going to listen to our Disneyland Park Music in the car?! Its white and really clean for how old it is. It will last us a few years so that is good. Its fully paid so we don't have to worry about payments.

I haven't had any time to sew, heck I haven't had any time to sit and catch up! Next weekend I have saturday off, so hopefully I will have some time to sew then. Georgia will be with her dad, so it will be me and the dog and the humming of machine. hehe

Glad that you got a car!

DD is almost 4, she's always been um... high maintenance, she was doing really well for awhile but the last few weeks is back to being a tantruming bossy mess. I'm really at a loss as to what to do with her. She is a huge mess maker, I can't keep up with her, the house looks like a bomb went off in it, I'm at the point where I don't even know where to start to make it better. She refuses to listen. And if things don't go her way right down to the most minute detail you're faces with the screaming ugly tantrum thing. You know the ones that involve screaming at the top of lungs and full arm and legs kicking and thrashing.

She just had a huge meltdown over the color of a dental flosser that lasted well over an hour. I have been making a point of not raising my voice and since I was angry enough at her this evening (after the whole day being a mess because of her tantrums) I didn't yell, I'm one of those people when they get really really made I talk quietly. She lost her bedtime story and she never even finished brushing her teeth because she wouldn't stop screaming long enough to brush them.

I don't know what to do to make it better. I just want to sit and cry because I feel like such a failure as a parent. I worry that my neighbors think we beat her all night because she screams as if someone is killing her.

I feel so ill equipped, I never thought I'd be parent, it wasn't something I was planning on doing. I just don't know how to make it better. DH wants another baby and I don't even know how to get my head around doing this again. I don't know if I could handle another round of this, I realize each child is different but the fear of having another child that's this intense freaks me out.

Anyone have an intense preschooler or any ideas on how to cope? I know this isn't probably the place to ask but I've come to value the opinions of you ladies and Tom, as this is the board I read the most.

We use a naughty spot as a time out and she does lose certain toys or activities when the naughty spot doesn't work. She just doesn't listen to a thing you tell her.

Thanks!

You are not a bad mom at all, and NOT a failure!! Your dd sounds a lot like my 4 1/2 yo! She throws a fit whenever she doesn't get her way.....we have gone through the dental floss thing as well...and a lot of times, the color of her cup or utensils at dinner time! Our house look like a tornado just went through as soon as she gets home from school...I have recently started making her put away her toys before moving on to the next toys. I recently made a chart of chores/responsibility that both ds and dd need to do...and if they complete it, they get a sticker. They both love sticker, and it has really help somewhat...after dinner each night, we go through their charts and see if they deserve the sticker. I have also decided that I am not going to get after them for hours to clean up their toys....I will remind them a few times, and then if it still doesn't happen, I set the timer and tell them that they have 15 minutes (or 30 minutes depending on how much clean up they have to do) to clean up..and once the timer goes off and if the toys do not get cleaned up, they do not get a sticker. My kids are not big TV watchers, so taking away tv from them doesn't work...but if I have to take something away, it will be one of their favorite toys..and that usually do the trick.

Everyone talks about the terrible twos, but honestly, I think 4 is harder for me than the twos.....the talking back and the attitude.

Yay! I'm first of the Utah Bunko Girls to post (they're still sleeping, I'm sure).

We played at SugarBees "House" (It's a mini-mansion). My house is 3800 sq. feet and her's is at least twice as big! But it's just beautiful and WELL decorated...since we have a ton of the same stuff and the same taste

So the Bunko Girls were me, Spongie, Jham(mmie), and Sugarbees.(plus 4 others) No pictures, sorry!

I WON a prize!!! :cool1: A Love me KNot bag in black and white! LOOOVE it! Course I won for the lowest score :rolleyes1 I guess it's not like golf where low is good. :confused3

Sugarbees and Jahm are 2 of the nicest and funniest ladies I know, y'all
I never would have discovered them if it weren't for this thread (4 ago  )

Sounds like a lot of fun, and congrats on the prize!!

I hope to start sewing this afternoon. Did yard work already and want to go to hancooks to LOOK only!

LOOK only??? Is that really possible? LOL

Do the Kaiya Eve pettis take that long to arrive?! I want to get a pettiskirt for Sally SO much! But it wouldn't arrive in time for Disney. I want to get one for her any way b/c I want to do some professional studio shots of her. She needs to get her glam on! She would work that pettiskirt I have no doubt!:lmao:

I am so hiding in my office right now. BAD me!

How pretty!!! The petti looks great, too! :thumbsup2 I just ordered Tessa a white one so she could wear it under anything. Now I'm wishing I would have ordered her a funky colored one, too. I wish it was a little bigger because I have the overwhelming desire to put it on myself! :rotfl:

Ahem, if you take the elastic out and put ribbon in there, it gets big enough for an adult to try on. Don't ask how I know this! :rolleyes1
And, in my efforts to convince you that the white petti is beautiful enough and doesn't look like a slip, here is a pictures of a white ones like Tessa's worn as a skirt:

Sounds like you girls had fun!!!! Why is Utah so far from Michigan?? And you girls have HUGE houses!!! My house is 1,050 sq feet! But, we do have a full basement, and I mean FULL we can't fit anything else down there!
Luke is sitting on my lap right now. When I told him Tessa had a spongebob birthday cake he requested that I get a picture of it "right here" and pointed to my disboards window He really wants to see Tessa's spongebob cake! That boy loves spongebob.
Is it the cake he wants to see, or is also hoping Tessa will be in the picture! ;)

So yesterday it was the scissor-Todays target- THE SUGAR!!!! Yep it was all over the kitchen floor and my 4yo. and if I wasn't laughing (now).... while standing in time out he says moooooom my hands are very sticky- duh!! Good thing it was getting low! GRRRR Then he woke up his sister and hour early!!! She gets so cranky when she is up early! Vent over- thank you!!

And it is supposed to be 50+ the next 3 days!!!! Dare I say spring has sprung :dance3:

I HATE cleaning up sugar!!!!

Yes, we are all planning a great time on this trip!!!

I am thinking the same thing about spring! I am afraid to get too hopeful though!

Awww, thanks! :grouphug: I wish I were still sleeping :sad2: I drank too much diet cherry pepsi and couldn't get to sleep last night. Her house is perty, isn't it? Bunko was fun! And I spent too much at Hobby Lobby--hey, I never get out there! Everyone won a purse but me :sad1: :rotfl:

That's not fair you didn't get a purse!!! Poor Jhammie!

If they have the Kaiya Eve ones in stock, they should ship quickly, but the last I knew, Sam's actually made most all of the pettis on the market. So, if they have to be made, it will take months. At least, that's my understanding.
;)

They do look SOOO cute in pictures! She will look gorgeous with one. What color were you thinking of?

I don't think I need a pettiskirt (Wait, do I? ;) ) but wanted to comment on the huge difference between the two sites you linked for us :rolleyes1 (Bless their hearts)

You on tried the tulle tutu or the pettiskirt? Either one look like fun. :lovestruc

Yes, he has kids.
A 5 year old and a 9 year old.
They call me Amber.
No "Miss" to it.
And I'm not going to push that part -
I just want them to quit being such smart rears!
I was whining about something one day and the 9 year old told me to "build a bridge and get over it."
:scared1:

THIS is why I need Miss Cammie advice. But I need to wait til I'm a bit more "official."

:rotfl: That is so true!!! I laughed so hard the first time I looked at the "costumes" page!

Hopefully, I will be able to post some pictures of the Sam's pettis on Lydia later today. I'm waiting for it to get about 40 degrees out before I make her go outside!

On the ongoing child discipline thang:

Spank em!

Just kidding ;) sort of:

The "Naughty Chair" (which you have to pronounce like a Brittish Nanny) Is the best tool for us. If the little darling (Norah) gets OUT of the naughty chair before the timer goes off....I spank. Only because I know I'd be "setting the little precious angel" back in said naughty chair repeatedly would get consecutively more forceful and stressful. That child can push a button, I tell you what.

We tried 1,2,3 Magic which in theory works well for some parents, I'm sure, but we kept saying: "One!....Twoooooooooooo!....thrrrr" because we didn't want to get to 3, and darned if my kids wait for the "r" in "Three" to budge :rotfl2: I especially love listening to parents who use fractions for the same reasons! "2 1/2....2 3/4....You better move mister! 2 7/8......"

Once, while at Disney World, after a loooong whiney day, during a mama meltdown, I said to my kids:"Shape up or I swear I'll spank your bottoms right here in the Happiest Place On Earth in front of Mickey Mouse and ALL these HAPPY people!" But we ended up laughing because I sounded ridiculous.

I tried on the pettiskirt, like the ones in the pictures I posted, except it was purple, my favorite color! Hey, Lydia told me to!!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Oh fun, a 5 and 9 year old, those are the ages of my girls. Doubtful that they will start being smarty pants anytime soon! ;) I am laughing about what the 9 year old said, very funny, not very respectul, but very funny! Good luck, I'm sure you will be a fine evil stepmother! Have you been practicing your eyebrow arch?

Hello!! I just wanted to tell everyone that I'm planning my next cruise! yea me!!! I just have to decide which cruise line to do...my friend recently went on not a Disney cruise ***egad!*** but she had a fabulous time. So we'll see. but so far Disney's prices aren't too bad. If I book the land and sea seperate, I save about 2,000 dollars...keep your fingers crossed for me, I'm going back to planning..:)
Oh yeah, I did sew something yesterday. I made a tee with an applique of the shopping girl, the one available on YCMT. It came out really cute. All she needs is for her eyes to dry and she'll be all done..:rotfl:

OMG!!! DH just bought me the most amazing thing!! This!!
IMG_0318.jpg

I just took it out of the box and I still can't believe it. It's a Viking Emerald 183. It's computerized! I mean I'm in the 21st century with my sewing machine. (the one I had been using was at least 15 years old.) I still need to do a Cinderella dress and boy this thing is going to make my princess dresses a breeze!! It isn't an embrodiery one, but it has some cool stitching, I think I read it would program the VCR and put a roast in the oven all at the same time. I don't know how!?!:confused3 I'm just psyched it had a self-threading needle and a speed controller??? I didn't even know machines had that. So what do you think?? Does anyone have a Viking?

Oooooooh! THAT is one cool new toy!!!

I too think a spanking has it's place. Although, I've seen parents completely get out of control with a spanking and at least twice I had to step in when someone was spanking a child and got out of control. You have to know yourself and your child before you start spanking.

Spanking worked with Corey. It didn't work with Arminda, she just needed a look or a stern voice. She is VERY sensitive. Spanking her would NOT be worth it! And with Lydia it does nothing to change her behavior. She can be a VERY frustrating little sweetheart!

I can't wait to see it though!

Barbara update:I took Barbara to the oncologist for a 2nd opinion this week. He was of the same opinion as the surgeon that she should have a full mastectomy. They are going to also take out one of her lymph nodes to test it for cancerous cells. If that one is clear, they will assume the others are, too. They aren't sure if it's just a ductal carcinoma, or if it is a more invasive cancer mixed in with a ductal carcinoma. It's a very large tumor (5cm), so they werne't able to test the whole thing with the needle biopsy. We are praying that it's just the ductal carcinoma and they will be able to remove it with no further problems. They are going to schedule the surgery for AFTER our Disney trip! So, that was great news! Barbara is still upbeat about everything. She has the attitude of "what happens, happens". She knows there's nothing she can do about it, so she just goes with the flow. Thanks again for all your prayers!!
Glad to hear Barbara is keeping her spirits up and yay for getting to go to Disney.

That is horrible. I love pigtail buns or as we call them "Ballerina Buns". DD is always wanting them in her hair and she has never been teased. You tell her that they are cute and then show her a picture of Princess Leia and show her it's not a bad thing. I'll bet she was really cute with her hair fixed up.
