Disboards App?

Hey everyone! I have been having nothing but problems with my Disboards app. Takes forever to open a thread to read! Also, lately my comments aren't go through, keeps cycling and finally says there's an error. I keep shutting and rebooting the app but it doesn't help. I also deleted it and reinstalled. I'm using IOS. Anyone else having these problems that might be able to help? I'm ready to delete the app and just use the full website. Thanks!

Sorry I can't offer any help, but I've been having the same issues since I started using the app a few months ago-- some days it works, others (many others) it doesn't, so I'd be curious to follow this and see what the responses point to. Many reviews of the app in the apple App Store say similar things, so I don't think it's something were doing wrong, but I may be mistaken. I use my laptop and a browser most of the time i want to get on Dis due to the wonkiness.

You're not alone!! There's a thread about this on the Technical Support Board. I'm sure there have been several over the years.

The app has NEVER worked well for me either on iPad or iPhone. I finally gave up altogether. Got sick of composing posts that wouldn't post!! Such a waste of time.

If I'm on my iPad and want to check DIS briefly, I use the web browser and regular site. Annoyed every time the site tells me I could just download the app!!!

Ridiculous that this has been a problem for so long and nothing is done about it, IMO.

The app is slow, buggy, and crashes a lot. It's not just you and there's not much you can do with it - I've tried, lol.

These days, I use the app sometimes and other times I just use my mobile browser. Depends on how much aggravation I want to deal with.

(Edit - the app timed out and crashed while I was posting this, lol)

Thanks guys... Wasn't sure if it was just me! I love the boards, I am on all the time, but it's getting SO frustrating!!!! Is there anyone we can contact to see if they can make some improvements? I just found the developer info through the App Store, but no way to reach out.

PS- didn't know there was a tech board... just found it though! Sorry if this is in the wrong place!

I just downloaded the app last week and didn't give it much of a chance. It takes forever to load and crashes a lot. I now just use the regular website on my phone. Sure the words are tiny, but it loads a lot faster!

The disboards app is garbage...which is really sad because the site is so great. If I want to check the dis on my phone, I just bring it up in the safari browser.

I'm there with you. This has been going on for a long time. When I see an update for this app I'm hopeful this is resolved but so far no go. It's frustrating when checking for cancelled ADRs thread.

agreed, I wish is worked better because it would be the first thing I do when I have a few minutes to browse while waiting for kids, etc. But it rarely works for me, so I don't use it much. I also open it in my browser and read it on the regular site when I really need to catch up on the go. I'm sure Pete (and Corey) is working on making it better, he is very techie.

I have no doubt they're working to make it more user-friendly and less buggy, but I always have problems with it, too. It constantly exits out and goes back to my home screen as I'm reading a thread, can't load new threads to read, etc. I prefer the website version anyhow, but it's convenient to have the app!

I thought it was just me and my wireless, glad its not. I'm not glad everyone is having problems I'm just glad its not my phone or wireless. I hope they do fix it as these boards are one of my 2 addictions.

Oh, I was thinking the exact same thing, I thought it was just me!

I'm on Android and the app drives me nuts. So slow and I'm constantly having to refresh pages to get them to load... and sometimes they never do, so I just give up. I mean, on the one hand I'm grateful to have an app at all for the boards. On the other, I wish whoever their developer is would spend some time making it better and faster and more user-friendly!

Hey, kind of sounds like every version of the WDW website that has ever existed.

Problems here also with the app (android). I now use the browser on my phone and tablet. Even there, though, the search drop down box vanishes when I try to type in it. And lately there is a big big lag btwn my keyboard and the letters appearing on the screen. Takes forever to write a small post. Just this site. Weird.

Hey - I've never been super fond of the WDW website (!!) but I think it IS improving, and the MDE app isn't a COMPLETE FAIL like the DIS app. If the DIS app works it's the exception the the rule. Rare exception.

Harsh? Yes. Mostly because I don't see it getting in the least bit better. Can't imagine the excuse. I'd remove it from the App Store until it could be made workable if I were in charge. JMHO... of, course...

This website works great on my desktop computer. It's one of the best and most reliable interactive website that I've ever used ... at least with Firefox.

When I access it on my android phone however (not using the app) it's impossible to access. I can see the forum indexes OK. I can click on a subject. But the page containing the list of messages will load, and then 2 seconds later, the text disappears and is the page goes blank. Happens every time.

I don't want to get the app, because what the heck ... HTML is supposed to work! I'm not going to clog up my phone with apps for every single website I want to visit. The whole point of HTML is to be a universal markup language to display text and graphics. Based on the way that the page goes blank (becoming a block of chunky colors) I'm guessing that the CSS stylesheet is the problem.

Instead of an app, they should either simplify the main site to get rid of the CSS stylesheet (at some loss of glitziness) or else make a mobile (e.g. m.disboards.com) web page with simpler code.

Nice thought but I believe this is a pretty universal problem... Not "user error"...

Yes, the app is worthless. If you want to access these forums on a device, best bet is though a browser. I use Chrome. It also is slow, but no slower than if using on a computer. But at least is works, the app does not.
