Watched Deep Blue Sea last night and thought it might be fun to try and remember all the cheesy disaster movies that have been made such as Deep Blue Sea.

I'll start off with

Eight Legged Freaks

At the time that it was made Earthquake wasn't all that cheesy but if you watch it now you realize just how far we have come in making movies.
The three Airport movies
Airport
Airport 75
Airport 79

Towering Inferno and The Poseidon Adventure look pretty cheesey now--but still a guilty pleasure! All-time cheese goes to The Swarm.

Earthquake in SENSOROUND

Steve you remember that too. The first time the seat shook scared me to death. I was young but I don't remember just how old I was but I remember the theater and all the big speakers in the back with the sensors under the seats. what a ride.

Posiedons Adventure is one of DH's favorites.

We just watched Towering Inferno as well, also I think

Airport 74 (or was it 79?) can't remember

We saw Earthquake as well recently.

TWISTER!!!! One of my absolute favorites!

WE'VE GOT COWS!

Porsedion Advetnure and The Towering Inferno are my favs! They just did a semiremake about TPA, called "Intrepid". Also, Airport had four movies, the final was "Airport 79: Concorde"

The 4th Airport is Airport '77. The one where they end up at the bottom of the ocean. That movie scares the daylights out of me!!!!! It's so cheesy, but the concept is terrifying.

Pierce Brosnan made a volcano disaster movie a few years back, but I have forgetten the name. It's right on the tip of my tongue, but I just can't get it. I'm sure someone here can help me remember.

Does anybody remember Pirhanna?
That movie scared me to death when I was about 12!

I also saw Grizzly, Orca, and the Swarm.

I was hooked for awhile!

JetMom- I saw all of those. Saw them with my Dad when I was but kneehigh to a grasshopper...(maybe a little older..)
They were great
Disaster movies that are cheesy...Freddy vs. Jason.. wait it wasn't a movie about a disaster but it was a disaster of a movie.. and definately cheesy.

my movie story:

The summer after Twister came out(I own the dvd but had the video when this happened) I was home watching it on tv and my mom was online.I had just stopped the tape to get a snack when a tornado warning came onscreen, mom through it was my tape but it was the real thing

after Deep Blue Sea, TBS had on Red Water (their "original" movie). YUCK!!!! It was horrible. I was really looking forward to it but it had absolutely no story and I can't believe I actually wasted 2 hours of my life watching it (not to mention that I missed the Soprano's for it  )

Oh yeah... and their was a horrible movie several years back with Bill Murray.... something about an invisible man??? I really, really tried to like the movie (I love Bill Murray) but we actually walked out of the theatre. I think I am one of about 7 people total who saw it :o

Dante's Peak, thank you!!!!!!!!!!!! That's been bugging me since last night!

Freddy vs. Jason.. wait it wasn't a movie about a disaster but it was a disaster of a movie.. and definately cheesy.
Glad I'm not the only one who thought this movie stank!!

I did like Deep Blue Sea and Dante's Peak though.
