Disappointment

Last week it was VERY hot at WDW, but the guests are just as hot as the CMs and I don't see the heat as an excuse for rudeness. Plus, the CMs receive money to be nice, while the guests pay (a lot) of money to be there. Besides, it has always been hot in Florida, and I didn't see this behavior ten years ago.

I saw several examples of rudeness toward guests. Not me, but other guests. I also routinely saw CMs standing around chatting with each other. If a guest had a question, they'd have to interrupt the group to ask it.

Nothing against anyone who complains (go for it!), but I don't want to have to go and report the CMs. That's not my idea of fun. I think Disney ought to be checking up on these people themselves.

Oh sorry about that, but you're right,we had a couple issues too with CM, not all of them, some CM were really nice and friendly.

About the tripod we did had the same problem, we were walking to fantasmic and DH had the tripod on his hand and all a CM (lady) yelled as we walk by her, "YOU CANNOT USE A TRIPOD IN THERE".

Also on our 3rd day we went to the MK and my family went ahead of my at the ticket check machines i was on a different one and for some unknown reason my card was denied, the CM screamed at me "THIS IS NOT YOUR CARD" everybody turned their heads to me, it was embarrassing, i put my fingers again and scanned my card and same thing, she was " I"LL LET YOU IN, BUT THIS IS NOT YOUR CARD" i tried to tell her that it was my card, she didn't let me talk and told me GO GO GO, she was so rude! DH asked her if we needed to go some where to have my card check, and she said " I DON'T KNOW!! DO I LOOK LIKE A MANAGER"?

How Sad.:sad2:

I'm a "go with the flow" type of person and really not confrontational, however, I'm not a doormat either. I promise you I would have responded on both of these occasions with an equally loud...I KNOW YOU CAN'T USE A TRIPOD IN THERE! and YES IT IS MY CARD! :rotfl:

We just returned from WDW and the only twice did I feel like I was putting someone out to do their job/or not do their job. That was at the back entrance of Epcot while I was asking the CM at the window some questions about the water park and the discount given for an AP holder/DVC member. Yes maybe I should have known the answer but I didn't have the booklet/paperwork right in front of me. There were no people waiting in line to be waited on so I thought I would pop over to ask my question before entering the park. I was made to feel like an inconvenience but I just shrugged it off and went upon my way. No harm no foul.

One of the bellhops at the YC was much ruder by giving us a hard time about taking our luggage up to our room ourselves. We had minimial luggage and wanted to go to our room ourselves. It was at the end of the day, we were tired and just wanted to get to the room. He was so, so pushy and kept the cart behind him insisting he bring it up to our room. Ok buddy I know you work on tips but by the fifth "no thank you we can do it ourselves" he should have taken no for an answer. He was argumentative saying he insisted he go to the room with us. The only reason the luggage was on the cart at all was because we had gotten to the resort earlier in the day and the room wasn't ready. Otherwise we typically like taking our things to our room ourselves. It's not that we don't like to tip because we were on a trip earlier in the summer that we were tipping left and right for because there was nothing out you could get yourself, i.e. towels, ice, etc. We did tip the man that put the luggage on the cart and even this pushy man that brought the luggage back out from the back room. It just irked me that I had one piece of luggage and my family member 1 piece and a carry on. Help wasn't necessary and it was obvious. When someone says no really it is no. He wasn't doing it to be helpful. He seemed to be being pushy and really "working it" because he wanted a bigger tip.

At the defense of the CM's, we just returned from a week at Disney and I have never seen more RUDE GUESTS!! I even remember saying to my DH, I could never work at Disney (only in non-customer service areas), I would be fired my first day!! I can't believe how some people act!! I just wonder how much people should be expected to put up with, and I don't care how much they are getting paid. If guests would just use common courtesy and common sense, the CM's job sure would be easier and I am sure their moods would change too!

We just got back and we did meet any nasty CM. We did see some rude visitors. One was yelling at a CM at the Meadows Trading Post because they didn't have her package ready for her. It was only 8 AM (just opened) and the lady said that she had to have it because the trailer was packed and they were ready to leave. I felt sorry for the CM. They had to look through all the Epcot boxes to find her package. She should have just taken it herself.

I ran into one bad CM once at MGM. He was a waiter at the Sci-fi. Basical after seeing my friend's ID picture inplided that she used to be fat, which she was never! I was so angry, and at the end of the meal she left him a very nasty note instead of a tip. We never reported him, for some reason. Oh the other hand I used to also work in a movie theater and the patrons are sometimes so impossible that it takes everything in you to not throw something at them. I always tired my hardest to go above and beyond the call of duty for people. Sometimes people are just diffcult.

Personally, I think a lot of it has to do with temp/seasonal hires for summer. They don't give a rats ascot because they are done with the job at the end of the summer. With the Happiest Celebration, I'm betting they had to hire many extra employees to keep up with increased crowds. Mix that up with short training (from what I understand Disney History is no longer a required course or something like that...) and you have a recipe for less traditionally Disney customer service.
