Disappointing news about Dumbo

Thats a good question, TigerBear. The schedule posted on the Disney site is probably the most reliable. My wife and I live in southern California, and have had annual passes for the past five years. Those unexpected changes on the refurbishment schedule seem to have occured fairly consistently over the years.

A good friend of ours is a Disney maintenance guy and he has a couple thoughts on this. For some of the attractions, it could be funds are now available to do deferred ride maintenance. Or, a previous rehab was either botched (unlikely I think) or funds were not available to do all that was necessary. I was told the Matterhorn is a special situation. The soil it was built on is very sandy, and the foundation was aparantly inadequate. As a result, the whole mountain is supposidly slowly sinking causing all sorts of grief. Not being an engineer or architect I wouldn't personally know. This just comes by word of mouth from th CM 's I know....

Don't despair though! Sometimes rides that are supposed to be down for rehab (according to the disney site) re-open long before their sheduled re-opening date. That way the maintenance guys get kudos for finishing waaaaayyy ahead of schedule!

PS you are gonna have a great time at DL !!!!!
