I am very disappointed that the entire Disney park will be closing for this Halloween party the entire time we are visiting. I was not aware of the closings when the trip was being scheduled. Does anyone know if my kids will get to see the fireworks at Disneyland or will we be fighting for space to only see WOC??

They close the park (either DL or DCA) every year for Halloween parties, this is the first year DL is hosting the party but they do them every year

I'm sorry that there will be parties during your trip time, however, they're only on Tuesday and Fridays (and Halloween night). While you won't be able to see Halloween edition of the fireworks from inside the parks on those nights without a Party ticket, you can still see them (sans audio) in the nearby areas surrounding Disneyland.

Furthermore, the regular fireworks should still be showing on Saturdays as well. World of Color is still showing on a nightly basis. Good luck :)

We need to know when you are going if we can help you figure out if you can see the fireworks. Plus, the park will not be closed the entire time you are there. The party is only a couple times a week, with the closing not usually more than 1 hour before when the park usually closes during off season. So you are really only missing 2 - 4 hrs per week. And they keep CA open later than it would normally be on those nts.

Also remember that on some days the park opens two hours earlier, even though it is closing two hours earlier, so you are not actually missing out on the hours, though you will have to get up earlier. The 8:00 closing time on non party weekdays has always been the norm for mid-fall.

I thought they reversed themselves and decided to allow non-ticket holders to be in the park and watch the fireworks. (but not be able to ride or trick or treat)

That idea floated around for a little bit; but no, non-ticket holders must leave the parks when the party starts.

What would be the point of only having the Hallowishes fireworks at the Halloween party if DL was going to let everybody watch them. Part of the price of admission was exclusive viewing of the Hallowishes fireworks. As a ticket holder for the Halloween Party, I think I would be very upset if I were surrounded by people who didn't buy a ticket and were able to stay and watch the fireworks.

OP tell us when you'll be there and where you are staying and we can give you good alternatives on viewing the fireworks. However as other's have said, the Halloween party isn't every night so nights that the party is not going on you will have no problems seeing the fireworks. :)

If you are there during the night of the party, maybe you can enjoy DL in the day and once they boot you out, you can enjoy DCA?

Will be there the 25th through the 29th and we will be staying at the grand californian. I can not afford to buy the Halloween party tickets, I was unaware of the closings or the Halloween party until just recently, I did not book the trip, and I usually take my kids during the summer, never been in the fall. Not trying to be rude, just not everyone can afford such a high price for the halloween party.

...they're only on Tuesday and Fridays (and Halloween night).

Assuming the above is true, you'll have Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights at Disneyland... And as someone said, sometimes they will open the park earlier to make up for the early closure in the evening. Mornings are better anyway, since so few people are up!

Until THIS year the party was over in DCA...so it has definitely changed this year. But still, it'll be OK. I can't imagine you would want to spend EVERY night of your trip in DL, I know we don't! DCA is fun, sleeping is fun LOL...you'll still have a GREAT time despite DL closing a couple hours early on one night, maybe two (if you're actually checking out on the 30th), of your trip!

Have you joined the Halloween visit thread on this forum?

Correct me if I am wrong, but during "value or low" season they normally only show fireworks on the weekends. The same is true for shows/park entertainment. You probably would have missed them anyway as your trip is Mon-Fri.

Can you change your hotel to a cheaper option and then go to the Halloween party? It sounds funny to that you are paying what is for me a ridiculously expensive hotel room fee and then complaining about the cost of the Halloween party...but people have different priorities, I guess. :confused3

You are only missing ONE HOUR of DL park time. The only day there is a change in park hours due to the Halloween party is a Tuesday. On that day the park opens one hour earlier than the other days that week and closes 2 hours earlier.

This time of year from the research I have seen the only nighttime entertainment is on the weekends for DL so again you aren't missing anything that would normally be scheduled at that time. Yes in years past the Halloween Fireworks were available to everyone but for years at the Magic Kingdom in WDW these fireworks have been exclusive to party goers so it does not surprise me that DL has gone the same route.

I am doing a budget trip with a friend. We are only paying $50/night for our hotel and instead of her going 3 days in the park plus the halloween party we are only doing 2 days plus the halloween party.

If money is an issue and you don't like that you are missing the Halloween party you could stay in a cheaper hotel and then use the extra for the party.

Looking at the calendar, the park hours are listed as
Monday 8-6 and 10-8
Tues 8 to 6 and 10 to 8
Wednesday 9 to 8 and 10 to 8
Thursday 9 to 8 and 10 to 8
Friday 8 to 7 and 10 to 11

Friday seems to be the only day that the hours are significantly changed for the party.

People have different priorities. Staying at the Grand Californian is on my "bucket list", but I've been to the Halloween Party at DLR and am attending it at WDW this year. The experience is SO worth it! Fun, fun, FUN! But I have a friend that doesn't do "budget hotels" and won't stay anywhere that isn't "five star", but she will cut corners on dining and everything else on the trip. Again, different strokes for different folks!

I agree with you OP. I think it's absolutely ridiculous. Disneyland closes at 7 PM. And then you have most of the rides close in DCA around 8ish due to WOC, Plus TSMM is under refurb... Crazy! Plus I think the trick or treat party is way expensive and not worth the money at all (we went last year so maybe it was a combo of the construction and being at DCA) but paying $50 to trick or treat, No Thanks! Not much to add, just I sympathize and agree with you!

The price for MHP is really high for just 8 hours in the park. It might not be worth it if you use a regular ticket on a MHP day that is only a one park ticket at DL. I think that it is a fair price for the party since you will be able to do different stuff in the park than just rides, watch the fireworks, character greetings like on a normal day at DL. I like the treat stations around the park, live entertainment at the French Market & Tomorrowland Terrace and mostly Halloween Screams fireworks. It was an amazing firework show right in front of SB castle.
