Disappointed with newspaper coupons

I got five coupon packets in my newspaper. I am trying to get better about using them and trying to lower my grocery bill. I have two 4 dollar coupons from Wal greens and will be using them today for some non perishables since I am going on vacation starting tomorrow.

I have a goal to try to lower my grocery bill by 15% initially and go from there.

I also do Swagbucks coupons to earn swagbucks while shopping for stuff that I normally wouldn't find in the newspaper.

I am also a member at BJ's which does accept manufacturer's coupons. Giant does double coupons under $1 so i will be trying to do that.

Oh how I miss the Baltimore Sun! Always had some great coupons when we lived in that area.

Our local paper here in GA only had 3 inserts - P&G, Red Plum and Smart Source. I was less than impressed since I had also read this was a HOT week. I sent DH to the dollar store to get 5 papers and now wish I had only gotten 1 paper.

Where do the people selling lots of coupons on ebay get their inserts from? Do they get extra inserts from the newspaper companies that they don't use up each sunday? :confused3

our paper was missing the P & G coupons also. If it helps, if you have a Wal-Mart near you, they usually charge 99 cents for the Sunday paper. So that is a pretty good savings. ( yours might be different....) But I always look through the inserts before I get the paper to make sure they're all in there. I totally forgot about the P & G insert this Sunday.

You can also go out to P & G's website and sign up for emails.....it'll put you on a list where you will be notified to sign up when new coupons are available or when the P & G "coupon book" is available. You sign up for it, it gets mailed to you. Last time I got one, it had a ton of coupons in it and they were in sections : expires 3/30 , expires 6/30 and expires 9/30. And the amounts were all much higher than what the paper inserts were. You might consider signing up to get their notifications.

Thanks for the info! I just signed up...

I've wondered the same thing. Also those that sell from their own websites like couponclippers, couponsbydede, etc.? They sometimes have hundreds of a particular coupon available. I wonder where they get all of them?

We also only got the smart source, the P & G cpns and the pepsi cpns. We don't get the Redplum and would love to without buying from a clipping service.

I print the cpn.com throught inboxdollars & swagbucks to get "extra"

Be careful buying coupons on ebay. I usually order several from ebay but last week I received a lot of 100 coupons that were all xerox black and white copies of a single coupon that the person had printed out on coupons.com. :headache: Every single coupon had the same serial number and sku number. I reported the seller to ebay and all of their coupon auctions were pulled and my money was refunded.

The seller had 100% feedback of over 600 before I bought the coupons from them but after I had paid then other buyers started leaving neutral and negative feedback because they had received these fraudulent coupons. The only response the seller had was "well, they WILL scan!". Yes, they will scan but that doesn't make it legal.

I decided to jump on the couponing bandwagon. I used to be a casual user when we were first married but nothing serious. Half the time we forgot to use the coupons we had. So today I went and bought the Sunday paper for the first time in several years. I had read that there would be a P&G ad in it along with whatever else.

I got home all excited and start pulling it apart and find the P&G insert, a Target P&G insert and. . .

NOTHING!

That was it for coupons. Not the Red Plum or Smart Source or anything else. All the store ads are in there, but no flippin coupons. The places I read on line said there should be 4-6 inserts today. Of course they said it could vary but that is a lot of difference and probably a waste of my $2.10 for the paper. I am really bummed. :guilty:

You must have got a bum paper! Mine had 4 inserts apiece in them. Actually, one of my papers had a double! I always check my paper right at the store before purchasing, because I think sometimes people swipe them!

I was so excited this week. that pepsi insert is pretty good. I drink a ton of propel and there's a propel coupon in there.

My friend who works at Safeway, gave me all the inserts from all of the left over Aegis' that they were throwing away. I got like 10 P&G inserts. I was pretty psyched at all of the inserts. Not the absolute best, but hey they were free!!! If you want to call me later (too many to type) I can tell you what was in the pepsi one and if there's ones you want I can mail some to you. just let me know.

My Sunday paper had five inserts in it yesterday. I also check at the store that everything I want is there. The coupons, the TV Guide, Parade and the Target ad. That is what I buy the paper for and it annoys the heck out of me to get home and find something missing! I've never been questioned by anyone in the store when I flip through the paper but if I was I would just do like a PP said - tell them I am checking that everything is there.

I have very bad luck if I pick up the paper at our local convenience store/deli/post office. They usually have none of the inserts. But since I have to go into town to shop, I pick up the paper at my first stop then flip through the inserts in the car to clip out what I want to use that day.

I also do internet printables. I just am not organized enough to plan far enough ahead to buy coupons on line though!

Someone mentioned before about getting the Sunday paper at Walmart for .99. In our area you can also get the Sunday Tribune at the Dollar Store and Menards for $1.00.

Someone on my local Freecycle just offered a bag of coupons and I was able to pick that up so hopefully I can find some useful things in there. I haven't bothered to ask there for coupons because quite a few others have already.

I have been printing out Internet coupons too. Going to have to decide if I think the newspaper is worth the money. I can get a Sunday only subscription for .99 a week. I will buy at the store again this weekend and will make sure I look for coupons inside before I buy!

I got tons of insterts also. I bought 4 of each of my local ones and was very happy with the ones I got.

I get mine from the $1.00 store so its not to bad. I always check to make sure they are in there.
