Hi. I weighed in this morning, and lost NOTHING. I followed Atkins all week, didn't cheat and watched my husband who has moved beyond induction lose 5 pounds!! GRR...

I did eat a couple of Endulge bars this week (2 I think) and I ate a lot of bacon (love the stuff). However, I did exersize, and drank all my water. Plus the Ketostix said I was in ketosis all week.

My fingers do feel a bit swollen, but how much water weight can I possibly retain?

Anyway.. I am disappointed, but not enough to chuck the whole thing. One thing I am thinking of doing is reweighing myself on Wednesday, to see if anything is happening. (Normally I only weigh in once a week on Sunday morning).
Well, just needed to vent :)

Hang in there! I've read some posts of people following Atkins who don't lose right away ... Have you been checking your measurements? Sometimes your clothes will start to feel lose even though the scale doesn't seem to be moving. Just keep sticking with it and eventually you'll see the weight come off! Good luck :p
 
Hang in there, I just came off the same type of plateau. I honestly think the endulge/low carb bars hinder weight loss. It seems when I ate one of those I would stop losing weight. I also found if I drink diet soda it was the same way.
 
Hang in there. I know it's frustating to do so well keeping on program and not loose anything. I agree with measuring yourself, because you may be loosing inches. Everyone looses at a different rate, and men will loose more than women usually. Hang in there and keep up the great work. You can do it!

Thanks for the (much needed) support. I did measure my waist and it is down 2" so that is good. I will not be eating the endulge bars this week, and I am only going to eat when I am really hungry (I was eating bacon whenever I felt like a snack, even if I wasn't really hungry.)

Oh, yeah, DH reminded me that I had 2 slices of pickle yesterday and lots of salt on my steak, so that could add to the bloated feeling... (hey, I will grab at any excuse :)

I don't do Atkins, but I can answer this question!! And the answer is a lot!!! Fluid retention can definitely skew the number the scales are showing you!! I can sometimes weigh 4-5 pound different when I am retaining fluid!

Hang in there, Jeanne. The tape measure is showing you that you have lost!! The scales will catch up with you soon! :D
 
Don't give up Jeanne! We all go through this (regardless of what diet we follow.) Who knows why the scale won't budge at times. Retaining water is the pits. I laugh when I see my rings getting looser but my weight stays the same - what's up with that? (losing fat in my fingers - just what I wanted!)

Well....I don't know about you but I can gain 12 pounds over night and it is all fluid. So, I'm going to guess that you could retain a <i>lot</i> of fluid.

If you have been strictly on plan then you know that you have not really gained any fat. I'm guessing this is all fluid.

That mean old bloat fairy is always sneaking around. Don't get discouraged, the fluid will go away soon. I promise :)

I know when I really think about it, I have been following the plan, and that the scales will reflect that eventually. I do FEEL so much better since I stopped eating all the junk. I don't nap anymore, and have more energy than I have had in years.

What about Crystal light? Will that affect the plan?

I think you will be alright drinking Crystal Light. But drink your water too, okay? Drink Crystal Light in addition to your daily water intake and you should do just fine :)
 
I always drink my water before I have anything else. I tried the crystal light yesterday for the first time. It was okay, but very sweet, so I think I will only have some with a meal, if I need a change.
I have to say, I NEVER drank water before Atkins. I mean Never. I had a tough first couple of days forcing myself, but now after 4 weeks, I actually crave water. I easily drink the whole amount. Did you find that to be the case also?

I had the same problem, I couldn't lose weight for the first few weeks. I did the fat fast and dropped a few and finally got my metabolism into action. I lost another in 3 days even though I cheated a little at a birthday party.
But my clothes are still fitting about the same, except my bras are a little bigger ( I need to lose in the hips not there), so you should feel great that you lost 2 inches. That is a great job.
I also find that the Crystal light is much too sweet. I started cutting it and making 4 quarts instead of 2 but that was even too sweet, so now I can get 5 quarts out of the one little package. 6 quarts was a little too weak. I make up the 2 quart pitcher, then pour it into 5 1 quart bottles then add enough water to get 5 bottles of flavor. Not too strong, and I am getting the water I like without drinking the water I hate. I wish tap water tasted better.
Keep going and keep us all updated on your progress. Peggie
 
Don't be disappointed. KEEP MEASURING YOURSELF!!! I've lost almost 3 inches in my waist and today when I bought a new pair of shoes they were a 1/2 size smaller!! WHO KNEW!!?? I had no idea that you dropped a shoe size when losing weight. I seem to drop inches faster than I drop weight and I have to remind myself of that before complaining about only losing 10 pounds in 3 weeks. I'm in the 220's now and I haven't been there in about 7 years, so I'm thrilled about that!
