Disappointed with Disney

I am going to the Beach/Yacht Club at the end of June for 14 days.:) Yesterday I noticed that there was a an offer of up to 25% discount on selected resorts . I called to inquire if there was a way to get any of the discount credited to my disney vacation package . The CM took about 15 minutes checking and came up with nothing , however she would be able to move me to the Boardwalk garden view club level :confused3. I find that strange , I am booked for the lagoon or pool view . So it sounds to me in order to save money or get some back I need to give up something I have been planning on since I was there last year :sad1:. Does not make sence to me .
See I have done this before , Once at POR I was staying for 14 nights the CM just split up the Vacation into to parts , I did not even have to move from the room I was in Building 14 . Checked out and right back in .
I guess there must be a shortage of water view rooms avalible . Anyone have this problem .
It really is not about saving money because I would just redirect the moneys to something else like go from Plus dining to the Premimum dining plan or play mor golf . I guess I feel better now I will not le this spoil my vacation because I will be at Disneyworld :yay:

When they say "select resorts" they also mean that discounts may not be available at the resort you want, or at every room level of every resort. It did not happen to be available for the room level of the resort you wanted on your dates. I checked them yesterday and they were available at POR for my dates at every level except standard which I am sure would also disappoint some guests.

As the pp said, discounts aren't always available at every resort or with every room type and having a reservation in place doesn't guarantee a discount can be applied. If the BC is at or near capacity for water/pool view rooms for your dates, then there would be no need to discount that category (or there were only a few available under that discount and they had been booked already). We love the MK area resorts and when I priced the Poly, GF, and WL under the new room discount, the savings was only around 10%, which is something, but it doesn't compare to the 25% discount I can get at the BC, YC, or BWI. So I do understand how you feel regarding the resort as I usually have my heart set on a particular resort and if it isn't available or the savings isn't there, it's disappointing not to be able to get it :sad2:. You can always call back or check online to see if your category becomes available as I have made changes to ressies in the past where what I wanted wasn't available at the beginning, but would become available later on. Good luck :wizard:.

I've had to switch hotels before because the one for which I was already booked did not have a newly released discount available. They only release a certain number of promotional rooms at resorts (if any), and once they're gone, they're gone. It's may be a little frustrating at first, but you'll still have a magical vacation!

I know how you feel...I'd be disappointed too if my heart was set on one resort, but you couldn't use the discount. They do limit the offers to a certain number of rooms, and June is a busy time of the year, so they must have booked up fast.

If the discount is important, then maybe you might think about switching resorts. We're going to be in the same boat as you next year... I think I'd take either the Beach Club or Yacht Club depending on what's available, but that's me.

I would call back and keep trying... people cancel trips, for whatever reason, all the time. You might call and get someone that could help you better than the first person. Good luck!! :goodvibes

I have had things like this happen and when I call and get a different agent, I get a different answer. Not sure why.... but can't hurt to try.:upsidedow

I know that the blackouts can be frustrating. At least you can go to WDW.com and see the actual room categories that are available for the Summer discounts. You will notice that not all are listed for every resort. This is how it works with the discounts. But as I said, you can see what is available. I have a PIN and I was shocked at how many room categories were blacked out. I would see so much availability on line. Get excited and call to book. Then find out it was not available with my PIN.

I was one of the people who had a standard room booked for July at POR. I was happy to see the discount. I'll take any offer that comes along, something is better than nothing.:thumbsup2 I had to bump up from standard view (parking lot view) to garden view (landscape view). Even with this, I managed to save around $300.

Disappointing, sure, but as others are indications, these discounts are marketing tools not giveaways or prizes. They are trying to sell their inventory of specific rooms, not necessarily all room categories nor all hotels. Many times the only deluxes will be AKL and WL. So, that means looking at the offer and seeing if changing room categories and/or hotels is worth it.

In an odd sort of way your existing ressie may be contributing to the no discount availability where you want to stay problem. I believe Disney determines where to offer discounts based on their bookings at various resorts - thus if pool/lagoon view at BC is 70% booked, then there's no need to entice people to book there, therefore no discount is offered, whereas, the nearby BW is only 30% booked - offer a discount there until it also is 70%booked, then poof that category is full, too. The numbers are just my examples. I have found that sometimes a category that was unavailable w/ a discount does becomes available later, perhaps due to people cancelling and booking where the discounts are, or just cancelling, or perhaps projected bookings are not hitting the mark. In any event, it pays to check the WDW site often and when your room comes up to call immediately and grab it. This happened to me 2 yrs. ago and it took a couple of months of checking online but finally I snagged exactly what I wanted @ 35 or 40% off the room. Good luck.

Well I'll post my experience. I have a garden view room booked for YC for 11 nights at the end of July into August. They applied the 25% off canceling out my AAA discount. Saved me an extra $200, not much but hey I'll take it. I checked online and they don't even list any garden view rooms available. I was surprised that I was even able to get the discount. At least now I don't have to buy a AAA membership. Hoping maybe a AP rate comes out and will maybe save a little more. Although, I plan to purchase APs regardless.

The CM I spoke with was very nice. He never even said I'll check to see if it is available, he said sure I can apply that. Gave me my new balance and that was it.

Just a side note.. all the rooms at the BWI club level are either garden view or water view except for the deluxe rooms which are 5 on 3rd floor & 5 on 4th floor. If it save you more I would go for the BWI Club level. They charge the same for a garden view or water view in the club level section. I know in the regular non club level water view is more. Just my two cents :)

As others have said, not all discounts are available for all resorts for all dates. When I went down there last Nov/Dec, I knew they were offering the bounceback deals. I knew before I left home that I was going to book three for this next year. I went down there with a list of several possible dates and a preferred choice of two resorts (CSR and POFQ). I knew from past experiences that I may have to change my dates and resorts in order to get the discount. Sure enough I wasn't able to get exactly what I wanted for any of the three reservations. For my May trip I was able to get my dates, but not my preferred resort. For my Sept trip I had to move my dates back a week and still had to switch resorts. For the Oct/Nov trip I had to move the dates back two weeks, but was able to get the resort I wanted. I didn't really care, because I knew the AP discounts are usually about 5% more than the bounceback deals, so planned on switching to an AP discount anyway when they came out. I just booked the bounceback to make sure I had something booked in case no other discounts came out. Imagine my surprise when the AP discounts came out for my May trip and they were exactly the same as the bounceback I already had booked. I thought oh well, I'll at least call and switch to the resort I want. Nope! I called the very first morning AP discounts came out and found that I still couldn't get into POFQ (apparently no AP discounted rooms were released for POFQ at all, so I couldn't get it under either the bounceback nor the AP discount).:headache::mad: I just kept the bounceback for CSR that I already had and have been checking the AP site daily in hopes a room at POFQ becomes available. In fact, I just checked a few minutes ago and still no AP rooms are available at POFQ for my dates, the only thing at PORS are waterview rooms, and the only thing at CBR is waterview. No AP rooms at all are available at CSR now.

Wait. What? You were tying up a valuable AAA discount and you aren't even a member?!?!?! :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

Business offer discounts to get slow moving merchandise selling. Beach Club is one of the resorts that very rarely has low capacity.

Therefore there is no reason to offer discounts there and when they do offer discounts it's for a certain number of rooms that get snapped up quickly by those who stalk the site because they know it's one of the rare resorts to discounts.

I might be disappointed that there wasn't a discount available but I do understand the theory of supply and demand and would just be glad I had a reservation to someplace I liked.
