Our family of 14 was going to Disny in April for Grandma's 60th birthday. We had a great time 2 years ago and were all looking forward to going again.

One sister is now pregnant and the baby will only be 2 months in April. So we decided to go in November instead before the baby. But of course, everything we wanted to do like the Cinderella breafast and the Hoop De Doo are sold out for November. So I suggested we go next November instead and no one wanted to wait that long. And Grandma was really looking forward to the little 3 and 4 year old girls seeing Cinderella again and also wanted the Hoop De Doo show because she heard it was so great for the kids - ages 2-4.

What should we do? Any ideas or advice mess would be really appreciated. Thank you.

Go in April.. If your sister still wants to go.. maybe someone can watch the baby whle she is away. If not, she could stay home.

It all is a part of parenthood. we all have to give up things sometimes.
If you can't get the ADR's, then plan on April.

I wouldnt give up on checking on availability for Hoop De Doo etc.
We have been 3 times in the last several years and I never once have called for an ADR and have had excellent luck ie. - walking in to Hoop De Doo, booking an Illuminations Cruise the night before going out etc.

Maybe you could get ADR's if you tried splitting up your party. I know CRT is hard to get. Try for lunch or dinner. HDDR should be easier to get, we walked up and got a seating for two last week. Which was a lot busier time than November. So maybe if you could get the different families to sit at different tables, you might have better luck with ADR's. At least for HDDR. If it doesn't work out I don't know I could wait a year without a disney trip, I'd give up the dinners.

Really? :confused3 Booked for November! How about CRT lunch instead of breakfast? Keep checking for HDDR and if you are flexible about the time and day in November, maybe you can get reservations. I heard November is a great time to go.

I say, if the new mom is up for it, go during April just like you planned. If mom isn't comfortable bringing the baby, maybe she should just stay home. I know it stinks, when you've been planning on something and then something else comes up, but I know there are lots of people on the boards that have taken very small children and still had a great time because there really is something for everyone at Disney, no matter how fast or slow you want to go!

Hope you have a great trip, no matter what happens. :)

If it's to see Cinderella, did you try other places to see her... maybe that could be good too: from www.allearsnet.com

Princess Storybook Dining - A family style American breakfast is served at the Akershus Royal Banquet Hall in the Norway Pavilion at Epcot and features Disney Princesses and Friends. Hours are: 8:30am to 10:10am Prices $22.99 for adults and $12.99 for children (ages 3-9). Most likely characters: Belle, Jasmine, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Mary Poppins. Lunch and Dinner are Norwegian style dining with characters (including the occasional visit from Ariel in her gown). Lunch: Adults $24.99; Children 3-9 $13.99 and Dinner: Adults $28.99; Children 3-9 $13.99

1900 Park Fare - Grand Floridian

Breakfast - Supercalifragilistic Breakfast with a variety of characters. Currently there are Mary Poppins, Alice in Wonderland, and the Mad Hatter. Breakfast items include omelet bar, pancakes, fruit, breads, meats, etc. Cost is $18.99-A and $10.99-C.

Dinner - Cinderella's Gala Feast - Regulars include Cinderella and Prince Charming, Suzy and Perla, and the Fairy Godmother (some characters may only be in the lobby for photos). Price for adults is $28.99 and for children ages 3-9 $13.99, which includes dessert and a non-alcoholic beverage.

Good luck in your search and decisions!

Personally, having done both......I would much rather go w/ a 2 month old than go pregnant! The first time my daughter went to WDW she was 3 months old. That was BY FAR the easiest trip to WDW with kids! The baby just sleeps and eats (I was even breastfeeding...lots of quiet corners and dark shows to do this). Besides...if you're pregnant there are a lot of ride restrictions...with a 2 month old there's baby swap! My vote is go in April. The weather's nicer then, too! As a bonus, the characters are REALLY great with little babies and the pictures are a real keepsake! :goodvibes

Is this your sister's first? If so, I can understand her hesitation, but I'm with Caegan--if it were me, I'd stick with the original plan and take the new baby along. They're never more portable than when they're a couple of months old. Plus, when they're that young, you don't have to deal with baby food yet. And the baby care centers at the parks are amazing.

We took my ds to DL when he was 4 months old to DL, and it was a piece of cake. He rode around all day in a baby sling, nursed whenever he wanted to, slept whenever he wanted to and we all had a great time. In fact, it was easier in many ways than trips with him as a toddler!

Totally agree with you, right on the money :thumbsup2: I would rather be with a small child than pregnant! It's fabulous that she's pregnant and congrats to her! but that shouldn't interfere with your plans that were made prior to her pregnancy.

Thanks everyone for your quick replys. I never thought it would be so easy with a 2 month old. Please keep the opinions coming - maybe we can convince her!

I agree with everyone who says to go in April with the baby. I have 5 children (8,6,3,2,1). It is so much easier to travel with an infant than a toddler. The child swap option works really nicely because some in your group can go on a ride twice. Plus most of the rides you can take the baby on with you.
I would suggest that you bring your own stroller. I love the rental strollers at Disney for my toddlers and older kids, but there is no way a baby could sleep in one (they are hard plastic and do not recline).

seriously! at 2 months old the little tyke is still sooo portable!! i went pregnant last yr and though i had a blast iw ould have rather gone with DS as a baby than pregnant. if that doesn't work i must say go without her. keep your plans :)

Traveling with babies is so easy. We have an awesome pic of Mickey on the steps of the castle after the fireworks as he gave my sleeping DGS Sean a kiss goodnight!! It is my favorite pic! I'll have to try and figure out how to post it. Tell your sis to go and have a ball.

You don't say when you are going in November, but if it Thanksgiving week then you may run into some problems for ADRs.

I know on Tday the 7:15 HDDR show is sold out.

I personally would not bring a 2 months old baby to WDW or ANY PLACE where are going to be thousands of people, but that is just me.

Wow, although she only ate and slept.. and I breastfed... I still couldn't imagine going to WDW with my 2 month old daughter. Because of sleep deprivation and exhaustion alone I would have had NO ENERGY to walk around the parks! But that's just me...

I hope you're more congratulatory about her imminent arrival when she's around! A new baby is something to celebrate! And if it means being "put out" a bit... I would find it worth it!

However, going in November would be great! And if you HAVE to miss Hoo De Doo... doesn't that just give you an excuse to HAVE to go back the following year? :cool1:

I have to agree that taking the two month old is not a big deal. I know how tough it is to plan a trip for a big group, logistically I mean. To change the dates of the trip and deprive Grandma (the guest of honor) and the other kids because it may be a little inconvenient for one or two people doesn't seem like a good plan. It's everyones trip. Your sister will always have the choice of not going, or going, and if she's tired, or if she wanted to she could hang out at the hotel and meet up with the group later. There are always options, but I wouldn't abandon your April trip. Babies are very portable, and Disney is pretty baby friendly.

why not just plan on going and if the sister and baby cannot make it for some odd reason.. (go ahead and plan your ADR\'s for them to be there...they have a lot of time for cancelling a ressie) then they can just go the next time you all go. Thats another suggestion..

it may or may not be what I would do but its a thought

it might seem heartless too!! but thats up to your family to decided!! LOL

CONGRATS ON THE NEW BABY in the family!!

:)
