Yep, you read correct!! Never thought these words would come out my mouth but they have.

I have been back a while from our holiday and big time depressed, the hotel (CBR) was amazing, the DDP was incredible, had Lobster at Narcossee, Artist Point visited, Flying Fish, Jiko x2, Boma, Poly Aloha & so many more.

However this year I had planned for 6 mths that I was going to propose to my gf. Now I know how much she loves the Grand Floridian and the Wilderness Lodge (even though we haven't stayed there). I had asked the reception desk if I could upgrade for a night for a special reason, explained the situ, and no sir sorry we cant do anything for the type of tickets you have.

Now that is not Disney service. I have never felt disappointed but I for sure did when I got that response, it won't stop me staying there however!!

Disney - Please wake up and get some common sense rather than constantly looking at the $$.

Apart from the above all went well and had the best three weeks of my life...

Honeymoon will be Vegas and California I think.

Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean - are you saying that Disney wouldn't let you book a night at either the Grand Floridian or Wilderness Lodge? I'm not sure what the type of tickets you had should have to do with it. Why didn't you just book a night there with Disney direct :confused3

Anyway, glad you managed to enjoy yourself anyway - did she say yes?

I'm confused too. Were you looking for a free upgrade?

Hi

Apologies, not made myself clear. Most defo not looking for free upgrade, I wanted to pay the excess for one night. I had planned on how to propose in either of these hotels.

I had purchased the tickets via a travel agent in the uk, and that is why Disney stated they could not upgrade our accom. I was dissapointed as it would not be rocket science to work out how much I would have to pay extra.

And yes she did say yes, most amazing feeling ever:banana:

Ah, I see - because you were on a package presumably you were not able to upgrade for one night. To be honest, you could have just booked a night's stay through Disney direct (in addition to your package) but it would have been pricey. I have to say, though, that I don't think you can blame Disney for not being able to upgrade you - it probably just wasn't possible for them to do it.

Glad she said 'yes' though - you can start planning the wedding and honeymoon now :)

I Can Understand Your Disappointment But Shouldnt You Have Booked A Room In Either Of The Hotels Specifically For The Occasion Before Going Out There?? In My Opinion The Disappointment For Me Wouldn't Lie With Disney But Me Myself For Not Thinking It Through Properly But Thats Just Me.The Good news Is That You Will Be Mr&Mrs Congrats...

If its in the T&C's of the booking you can't blame Disney. Did you ask anyone higher than the reception desk? It might be black and white to someone on the desk but someone with a bit more authority might have been a bit more flexible.
Anyone with any business sense would have checked on availability If they had a spare room charged you the difference to upgrade.

As for Honeymoon in Vegas and Cali, Have you been before? We have just got back on Sunday, 4 nights in Vegas(1st time) 5 nights at Disneyland(2nd time) ok had a good time but its not Florida. Might go back again in a few years to finish what we didn't get time to do but Florida we go time and time again (4 times next year totalling 9 weeks) can't get there enough.

The first time we went I enquired about moving to the Poly one night. They gave us a price but we couldn`t afford it.
A couple of years ago me and DD had 10 days booked at POP. After one night we decided we really wanted to stay at POR, we missed it there so much. I asked if we could move and would pay the difference - that was really easy to do. However both times we had booked with disney direct, if we`d used a travel company we too would might have run into problems.
Pleased you had a great trip - we love Jiko`s :goodvibes

Couldn't you have proposed on the grounds of the hotel? They are so much more beautiful than the rooms! :goodvibes

First of all when you use a package there is much less flexibility.
(We never book packages, that being one of the reasons).

You should have booked one night regardless, if it actually meant that much and then returned the next day to the resort you were staying.
You could have always used the grounds of the GF or WL.:bride:

Sorry it didn't turn out the way you wanted. However, if I had planned for six months to make the perfect proposal, I would have been sure to have all the details confirmed--down to the room. Why did you wait til you arrived at the reception desk to arrange for (what you consider to be) this very important detail? I just don't get it...:confused3

Even if Disney had been willing to change rooms for a night for you I know that they were extremely busy at the time you were there and there may not have been any rooms available - that would certainly have been the case the first two weeks of October as I was looking for rooms then.
