Hopefully I don't sound too much like a crazy cheap bridezilla, but I have some venting that must be done--and perhaps gain insight, or even share feelings on these issues.
The first thing I am upset about is the room blocks. I definately understand having the bride and groom to stay at a Disney Resort, and even the wedding party, but requiring a minimum number--say like 50, is a bit high--your already holding your wedding there!!
The second thing is the veiwing charge for Illuminations. I don't understand why this fee is in place: I think it is Disney's way of milking the newly weds. First, most if not all receptions/desert parties held in epcot must pay a rental fee for the area of use. So my question, or opinion, would be why would they charge us an additional fee per person, on top of that rental fee?? The rental fee alone for most of the locations are nearly double the viewing fees.
The third thing is the service charges. I definately understand the tips, and am more than happy to give out those, but the services charges are high (if they were 'normal' I wouldn't complain). Again, I would have no problem paying these without complaint, but something tells me the service charge (at least most of it) isn't going to the person actually providing the service. If it was, that would be nice, but I doubt it is.
The forth thing is the cinderella carriage. I know this is one thing I can't go without, and I'm not, but given the price your paying, you'd think they would pick you up where you want (within reason/distance), but they don't. They have a 'staged' pick up location (with the exception of GF/WP), which apparently only takes a couple minutes to get to Sea Breeze Point. Randy Chapman was actually the one who suggesting to me, to ask them to pick me up at my near by resort (BCV). I was told they would not--only the staged location, so I must find alternate transportation to that location first. This was more dishearting because I was looking forward to sharing that ride on the way to the ceremony with my dad and having our last few minutes before I was married.
And finally, the last thing (so far) that upsets me is their 'rules' about DJ's etc. if you are holding your event in a park. I was told I cannot have a DJ until after the park has closed and all guests have left. This will fall around 10-11pm by the time everyone has left, the DJ can begin. The problem here is that the event is scheduled to end at 11pm, but of course, Disney was happy to inform me that I canextend my hours later--for only the small charge of $450 per hour, plus additional food charges, and drink charges, plus the longer staffing charges--as well as having to pay the DJ extra. I certaininly understand the staffing and DJ, even the drinks, but as far as the food--everyone will have finished eating by then, and the other $450 per hour? Ridiculous!
Anyway, I apologize to anyone I may have upset or offended, but I just feel so taken advantage of. I understand they are still a business, but they are definatley playing the 'wedding' card. Moreover, we are suppose to be having a "Disney Fairytale Wedding", not jumping through hoops of fire--or money for that matter. I want a Disney wedding more than anything, but I guess it is what everyone says--it's the price your willing to pay.
