Hi!
I am new to the the board, and came across this thread, and was wondering if you guys mind if I joined you in your quest for weight loss.
My name is Jennifer, and I am a SAHM - previous social worker, and married of 13yrs (in Dec) to a wonderful man that has been in the military for the past 16 yrs. He flies medevac helicopters for the Army. We have 3 beautiful children Parker 7, who we adopted from the Ukraine at age 2, Ethan 4 and the child that we were told we would never have biologically, and Sarabeth turns 2 on Tues (bio also).
My Weight Story:
After High School (during college) I started to struggle with my weight big time. I gained about 150 lbs during those 4 yrs of college. I was married in my 4th yr and after about 5 yrs of marriage and yo yo weight issues, I was finally diagnosed with PCOS. Which causes weight gain and infertility (and other hormonal side effects) Anyway, We did all the fertility treatments, you name it, I did it - no luck. After the adoption of our Parker - I found out I was 3 months pregnant - possibly due to about a 15% weight loss while in the Ukraine (lots of walking and living on the 10th floor of a building with NO ELEVATOR for almost 2 months- we are sooo lucky here in the U.S.) Well, after the birth of my son, I weighed a whopping 264 lbs at 5'2" and that was not my highest weight. The next year or so I lost around 130lbs. To weigh in at 132 lbs. and got pregnant with our daughter. At that time I was walking 5 miles a day, NO SODA, no refined sugar at all, no starches, I was at 80 grams of protein a day and no more that 20 grams of carbs per day. I drank 8 glasses of water a day, and I did allow myself to use Splenda. I also did not eat fruit due to conversion of sugar in my PCOS body (I do not use glucose properly, therefore sugar just runs wild in my body).
Anyway, due to pregnancy, I had to add some of these foods back into my body, especially carbs. My daughter was born at 30 1/2 weeks and we were due to move from Alabama to Alaska in 4 weeks. I was stressed but ok. Then the army says ..... there is NO WAY you are going to Alaska with a preemie....so they reroute us to Ft Campbell, KY.....where guess what.....he deployed almost immediately to Iraq...... So, here I was with 3 small children, one on a heart monitor. I could not walk with her, due to her loss of body heat when taken out.... and she could not ride in a jogger. Anyway needless to say I gained 30 lbs while he was away that yr. THAT I am trying to get off for DISNEY.....well at least 15 for Disney in Sept.(10 more to go by them and the rest by Christmas. DH is set to deploy again right after Christmas, but I am in a much better place this time around, and will be having a tummy tuck and girly lift, while he is gone....YEAH!!!!
Well, thanks for listening and your support... can't wait to share and enjoy this board!!!!
Good Luck to all of you!!!!
