Hey peeps....just checking in. The appointment went fine, only one baby ;) It honestly looks more like a duck in the picture though:goodvibes

Anyways, the heart was beating away on the screen and that makes it seem so much more real to me. 140 beats per minute-right on the border for the old wives tale to help determine the gender. "They" say over 140 means girl and under 140 means boy. It was right with my daughter, but who knows!

Hope everyone had a good day!
Great pic jen! How exciting! What did they do to get that pic? You think I will get one next Thurs??

Danielle - Thanks for the belated birthday wishes and for quoting some of the highlights! I have been away for a while and it is good to see some of the things I missed without reading all the way back.

Stacey - Belated Happy Birthday to you! I did read back a few pages, but looks like I missed it.

Wow, lots of new people who I didn't realize were here!

Did anyone else see this thread? http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1525468

Is she talking about this thread or is there another one that is referred to as Peeps??!
I left a response on there with my hidden sarcasm.

I know this is sort of frowned upon, but I made a batch of sugar cookies for the girls at school and camp...sort of a thank you for those that deserve thanks and a "we did it" for those of us moving on to our externships. Here are some pics...(I just got the octopus and crab cutters on Saturday at Williams-Sonoma...part of a beach theme and they were on sale. I love them!)

And a couple of Phoebe that I just downloaded. Yes, she actually sits like that on a regular basis. What a Diva.

Hi Everyone,

oooooh ooooh!! WELCOME Jodi!! so glad you are joining in - and you're posting questions!!! and

a looooooooooOOOOOOooooooooooooooonnnnnngggg time ago... before Pilates... there was this ballet dancer - and her name was Calla Pickney (dont quote me, I dont have time to google search!) she suffered, gained weight (went from 95# to 120# - ok kidding, but I'm telling you I could see no fat on her!!) she had a terrible back problem... she decided to "shape up" and went to what she knew - ballet warmups... and incorparted the knowledge of ballet into the exercises... and in Hollyweird.. she became famous - and wrote books, did vhs tapes - and I see so many of her exercises in Pilates... those slow specific exercises work!!

Oh, I’ve actually heard of Calla Pickney – My mother used to do the whole callenetics thing. I haven’t seen her stuff in years. It’s amazing to think how these small movements actually work.

I stepped on the scale when I got home yesterday and it says I lost 10 pounds
Congratulations! :cheer2:

BTW... every time I glance at the pic in your siggie, I think Goofy is flipping me off
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: It does kind of look like Goofy is flipping us off -- never thought about it before.

I will say the one and only reason I went out there at 8pm tonight is because of the wish running thread. There are people there with serious medical problems... and they overcome. They run. They make a goal and they do it. I posted my goal of a 5 mile run and then they posted good luck, and cheered me on... how could I let them down?

Yeah, the people on the running thread is great – I still have to get back with everyone on that board too – although, I will be rejoining as a walker. My goal is to make it back to Disney for the Goofy Challenge as a walker in 2009! :woohoo:

My contribution for today:

Ed was in trouble. He forgot his wedding anniversary. His wife was really angry. She told him "Tomorrow morning, I expect to find a gift in the driveway that goes from 0 to 200 in less than 6 seconds, "AND IT BETTER BE THERE!!"

The next morning Ed got up early and left for work. When his wife woke up she looked out the window and sure enough there was a box gift-wrapped in the middle of the driveway. Confused, the wife put on her robe and ran out to the driveway, and brought the box back in the house. She opened it and found a brand new bathroom scale. Ed has been missing since Friday.

>Please pray for him.

That's the only thing that I have that goes from 0 to 200 in 6 seconds!
:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Journaling seems to be my best tool for controlling my weight. Go for it. I did the WW maternity program when I was pregnant w/DD, and ended with a net gain of 27lbs, as opposed to the 60 lbs. I gained w/DS. Not spectacular, but I was able to get to my lowest weight by DD's first birthday, a weight I thought I'd never see. So write it down and do your best. It also gives you a chance to make sure you are getting all the things you and baby need (calcium, leafy greens, protein, folic acid, etc).
What’s the WW maternity program? Just curious….My husband and I would like to try again – but right now, I’m focusing on getting healthy but mentally and physically.

Welcome Jodi. I just wanted to say that WW gives you a healthy range of weights, so I hope you take that to heart. Someone in our family has had to deal w/an eating disorder, narrowly escaping having to be hospitalized, so I worry when I see someone who is losing too much to stay w/ WW.

Oh that’s awful about your family member – are they okay now?

Yeah, I’m definitely staying with Weight Watchers, it was just too difficulty to stay on plan when you are training for a marathon - - there was no way to eat back all of the activity points that I was getting by running. I was still eating healthy - - it was just really impossible to eat enough to stay on the weight watchers plan. I’m happy to be back at the meetings and it is a really good group.

Today, I did really well with my water intake – I’m amazed, I really hate water, it just bores me but I did good with it today. Had to use a couple of flex points today but nothing that bad – just three points.

Although, had therapy and they can tell I’m getting better - - I’m reacting really good to the therapy and had a good experience with Pilates on Saturday…so I’m on my way to recovering from that car accident.

Tomorrow is my actual work out night (I took yesterday off).

Hey is anybody here doing the Weight Watchers walking challenge? I started the first week last week but didn’t start the second weeks schedule.

Well, I should get going or I’m never going to get up in the morning – Sorry I know I missed a bunch of people.

Cute picture. Joshua had a beat around the 150's so I new that this one had to be a boy as well. Her beat has been 156 at every visit.

I left a response on there with my hidden sarcasm.

There are 2 ways and internal device that is :scared1: and then the one that goes over the tummy. I had each one done around 12 - 14 weeks and was able to get the tummy one :cool1: if that would have not worked they would have done the other one. When I had my oldest son no one had told me about the internal and I was very shocked about it.

First of all, I missed some birthdays, so HAPPY BIRTHDAY to dawn, Stacey and Cheryl.
late.gif

thank you!!!

Today, I did really well with my water intake – I’m amazed, I really hate water, it just bores me but I did good with it today.

have you tried the crystal lite (or the generic knock off brand) packets to add to bottled water? they're pretty good and give you some variety when you're getting sick of regular water. i also love the dasani flavored waters....grape and lemon are my favorites.

What happened to the thread? Is everyone out exercising with Dene???

Did everyone consume their 8 glasses of water??? :wizard:

AnnNan - I too start aquiring "stuff"... early and often!! :rotfl2:

I drank mine! I was out buying (waaaay too much) healthy food at wally-world.

i don't remember who suggested this, but today at the gym i decided to pick up 25 pounds (since i've lost 24) and just kinda walk around with it. it was amazing!!!! i can't believe i've lost that much weight. it doesn't seem like that much until you do that!

I picked up a 30 lb bag of dog food at the store and imagined walking around with it on my back... man I was wondering why I had so much energy now and now I am not wondering!

Great pic jen! How exciting! What did they do to get that pic? You think I will get one next Thurs??

I saw that post... love it. I want to post Don't be a hater.

I had a wonderful day. I found out that my group is likely going to reverse their offshoring policy, meaning, I will keep my job for at least the near future. Not only that, they are going to hire more full-time employees so it will help ease my burden and also give me more moving up potential. And, I beat the crap out of the elliptical at lunch, 32 min on it and 15 on the treadmill, and did my 100 crunches on the ball, 50 straight up and 50 w/ a twist.

Hey Dawn, can you ask WonderWoman something for me? I prefer the elliptical trainer as a cardio workout. Will my body get used to it? Do I need to be mixing my machines? I am also strength training... the treadmill is out I think, I tried running today and it hurt. I had rheumatoid arthritis as a kid and I have knee, ankle, and foot bone deterioration so high-impact isn't very good for me...

Hope everyone had a great and skinny day!

kat - i have a question about your question! when you ask if your body will get used to the elliptical trainer, do you mean that your body is not liking it right now and you're hoping it will get accustomed to the movement or do you mean you're worried about it getting too used to it and not being effective any more? just want to make sure i ask the right question!

Hehe... I can see where that would be vague! I mean, I am worried that my body will get too used to it and it not be effective. FWIW, I am stressing weight loss right now over all else, even if it takes some muscle with it. I am definitely doing the strength training to replace muscle, but I am keeping it light until I get about 20 lbs smaller and then I will intensify. Thanks!!

Oops, also wanted to add... I enjoy it, well, as much as indoor machine workouts can be enjoyed. So it isn't that it is boring for me or anything, just that I want to be doing the most effective thing.

First, a Belated but Very Happy Birthday to you!! I don't think I wished you one on your actual day. :goodvibes

And I just saw that thread! And thought the same thing...hmmmm.
Thanks, Shannon! My birthday was spread out until today. I walked into my office this morning and it was decorated today instead of on Friday

And I finally got to talk with my daughter this evening :)

BTW, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE those flamingo cookies!!! Of course they all look yummy  And the photos of Phoebe are so cute!

Eventer and Dene' - Thank you for clarifying what the Peeps thread is about.

Tomorrow is D-Day for me . . . back to WW and faithfully counting points!

It was an internal one....I was expecting that because of being only 8 weeks or so, but it is pretty interesting to say the least. Sort of looks like what got you there in the first place if you know what I mean ;) And, I bet you will get one. You will be close to 8 weeks, right? They usually do one around then to look for and hear the heartbeat from what I was told.

I know this is sort of frowned upon, but I made a batch of sugar cookies for the girls at school and camp...sort of a thank you for those that deserve thanks and a "we did it" for those of us moving on to our externships. Of all the cardio machines I felt like I was getting the most accomplished on the elliptical. I never got 'tired' on a bike really to where I thought I was getting much conditioning, treadmill had to be going pretty fast or steep to get the same number of calories burned. (I have fairly strong legs from dance, so I really needed the challenge I think) Anwyays, the trainer I had said your body would get sort of used to it, but if you change it up with level/speed I bet it will still get the job done. I will be interested to see what Wonder Woman has to say!

And thanks for all the reminders here about drinking water lately. I had really been slacking...bad peep! My Dr ok-ed my 'diet' plan of sorts today too. Said as long as I was eating the right mx of foods, adding 300-500 calories is more than enough for the baby. He said gaining 15-20 pounds for a person of my size was A-ok too, so that is my goal. So... I am back to sharing my food tomorrow! I know you are all overjoyed ;)

Hey Dawn, a few more things! (sorry!!) Frequency... I am doing 40-45 min on Mon/Thurs, and 20 min or so on Tues/Fri before my weight training to warm up. Intensity... I am on level 5 on my elliptical and I up the level every couple of weeks. 45 minutes for me is about 3-3.5 miles. Finally, I do have the hour of ice hockey on Wed to mix things up.

Maybe I will start mixing in the stair climber... the one in my gym is the kind with about 4 steps that rotate like a treadmill. It scares me. :scared:

Great post Dene'! :thumbsup2

Sort of looks like what got you there in the first place if you know what I mean ;)

:lmao: NICE!

kat - i copied your questions into an e-mail to her and i'll let you know what she says! i'm in court all day tomorrow so i'm sure she'll see the e-mail before i talk to her tomorrow night.

OMGosh!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

They use those for certain non-PG tests too. I laughed so hard when the U/S technician put the "raincoat" on the wand (not advised with a full bladder). She was very professional about it too. I just had to ask her how she maintained such a straight face.

What’s the WW maternity program? Just curious….My husband and I would like to try again – but right now, I’m focusing on getting healthy but mentally and physically.
I tried looking at their website, but couldn't find any info on it. Back when I did it, it was the regular program but with more dairy and protein. It was a good reminder that those extra calories for baby need to have a high nutritional value. Would you ask at WW if they still have it? I'm curious (even thought that ship has pretty much sailed for me.:) )

Oh that’s awful about your family member – are they okay now?

Yes. they went through sessions with a registered dieticianwho explained how starving your body damages internal organs, and they had to keep a food journal for several weeks and then get more training on planning balanced, nutritious meals. They also had to cut back on exercise activities. It all turned out OK, although I still worry. Thanks for asking.

Yeah, I’m definitely staying with Weight Watchers, it was just too difficulty to stay on plan when you are training for a marathon - - there was no way to eat back all of the activity points that I was getting by running. GOOD MORNING! :sunny:

Ed has been missing since Friday.
Ed is so dead! Or at least he would be if he was my husband!
The kids are amazing and it's just fills my heart watching them all singing and praising the Lord! THAT'S why I do it!!! :hippie:
Me too, Gayle! Every year I say "Why, why" and then I end up being the one blessed by the experience. Does Theo go to your church? Pretty soon he'll be a VBSer too!
But I need all the support I can get. Need to loose about:scared1: ... well a bunch of weight.
:welcome: You are more than welcome. Tell us about yourself and post often so we can get to know you! What a beautiful family you have!
The appointment went fine, only one baby ;) It honestly looks more like a duck in the picture though:goodvibes
This little one truly looks like a peep! What a great feeling to see a little healthy heart beating. Congratulations!
I made a batch of sugar cookies for the girls at school and camp.
They are gorgeous! Question: how do you ice them so close to the edge of the cookie without any drips?? They are perfect and I bet they taste good too!
Today, I did really well with my water intake – I’m amazed, I really hate water, it just bores me but I did good with it today.
Once you get used to drinking it, it becomes second nature and you realize how thirsty your body must've been all along.
I beat the crap out of the elliptical at lunch, 32 min on it and 15 on the treadmill, and did my 100 crunches on the ball, 50 straight up and 50 w/ a twist.
Kat....how do you have time to exercise during lunch? I would like to do that but I'm afraid to come back to the office all sweaty. What's your secret?
Tomorrow is D-Day for me . . . back to WW and faithfully counting points!
Glad you're back, Moo! We missed you!
I laughed so hard when the U/S technician put the "raincoat" on the wand (not advised with a full bladder).
I KNOW! Me too! Maybe it looks like what Dance got in the first place but would probably leave most DHs feeling a little inadequate!

EVERYONE HAVE A GREAT DAY!

Jodistar Thanks for your kind words!! You are a marathoner??!!! :cool1: It sounds like you have been on quite a journey yourself! Just thinking about it - I want to reach out and give you a big  On the event/comp forum someone started a walking thread - lots that post on the weekly thread are definate walkers - and are also planning on the Disney Marathon in '09 (GOOFY!! You are WOMAN!!) I wont be there in '09 - I'll be stressing about my son's wedding!!

Its hard to get healthy mentally and physically - its important, dont let all the pregnant Peeps worry you - you can still drink the water!! ;) I think there are a few around that are also contemplating motherhood when they reach the right point... I noticed in your signature line you suffered a loss - :grouphug: I had 3 miscarriages and 1 ectopic... its such a journey.

Hehe... I can see where that would be vague! I mean, I am worried that my body will get too used to it and it not be effective. FWIW, I am stressing weight loss right now over all else, even if it takes some muscle with it. Kat I think there is a lot of conflicting information out there - I have read that if you hit a platau then you may need to "mix" up your workouts - but I really think there is more going on then someone hitting a platau and blaming it on the Treadmill!! You ARE mixing it up! You are working out, comitting yourself, and you also do hockey (my son had severe knee problems, wanted to play football and the doc told him he was nuts - stick with hockey he said!! ) Maybe if you need to mix it up, you should just lace up the skates and skate in circles for 20 min!! I think you are doing an AMAZING job, and I appreciate your willingness to share!! :cool1: On the job front!!

Dance... what an adorable little duck... er, I mean BABY... yeah, that's it... BABY

:thumbsup2 What a beautiful thing Jen - thanks for sharing!! When I was pg with my last baby, I picked up a book on old wives tales to determine sex - I think I was hinting at I wanted a girl, so I always skewed the answers in favor of a girl!! :goodvibes

It was an internal one....I was expecting that because of being only 8 weeks or so, but it is pretty interesting to say the least. Shannon Those cookies are AMAZING!! I watched Martha Stewart pipe an outline of icing on the edges of the cookies, let it 'harden' a bit, then fill the inside with the icing - but I've never been able to get the right consistency - on the icing OR the cookie!!

:lmao: NICE!

kat - i copied your questions into an e-mail to her and i'll let you know what she says! i'm in court all day tomorrow so i'm sure she'll see the e-mail before i talk to her tomorrow night.

I had one - :scared1: I know I wanted to know why the "shape" of the monitor resembled something youd buy in a "naughty" store and add batteries to it!! :rotfl2:

I was going to say lots more (of course!) but I just saw the time, dh must've overslept, dd needs to be up to get to camp!!

WOOHOOTY on the weight loss!! :cool1: All of those that are posting about picking up weights, bags of dog food, take a moment and congratulate yourselves on the journey!! and then take the big ole WOOHOOTY

Adding yet another WTG to all the dedicated teachers, and VBS volunteers...

DD is still on her high from Miracle camp - last night she said we had to go on a "walk with God" because her counselor told them it was easy to walk with God at camp, but harder when they got home, and harder still when school started!! I feel so blessed... the talks we are sharing... it helps when we want to strangle each other!! (she lost her music, and of course it was my fault!!)

gotta run!
