Guess What . . .

I weighed in at WW today after my first week back and I lost 8.6 pounds!!!!!

My total since having you DD is 71 pounds! I am back on track.

(I have been lurking lately.)

I can't wait until our family trip!! only 2 weeks to go!!! It's a quick one, only 3 nights. I'm starting to feel the excitement build, I'm getting in "Disney mode". My teenage daughter says she would rather stay in school than go. WHAT IS WRONG WITH HER??? This is the our first year of taking vacations EVER, and we have always lived 2 hours from Disney. Third time this year on mini trips (3 night getaways) and in her teenage opinion, she says the only good thing about the trip is internet in the hotel room, for her laptop.:confused3 I have stopped even listening to her, she just tries to rain on my parade. Last night it was " moms the only one who wants to go anyway, she's just making the rest of us go" serinity now!!!!!teenagers are a different breed. Rant over!! Sorry, it just kind of slipped out.:rolleyes1

I say if the family isn't into the trip, go alone! :confused3 I bet if you told them you were going without them, they'd change their minds real quick! (DS, who is 20, can't believe I am going in Nov with friends and NOT taking him!)

Danielle I told dd your day, she said "wow if someone cried all day here wouldnt they tell the parents he wasnt old enough for Kind. and maybe hold him back a year?" :rotfl2: out of the mouths - so try that tactic with stubborn Dad!!

I use to teach pre-school and would have this problem with the 3yo that started at 2! I'm sorry, but if you aren't 3 by Sept 1st, you shouldn't go to school! Our cut off here is Dec 1st! Too many kids aren't ready to go to Kind, but are sent for the "free babysitting" it provides the working parents! Drives me crazy! (OK...rant over)

Crocs Jealous!! EVERYONE - go to your Hallmark stores and see if they are carrying the Hallmark Croc line - it too is skinnier at the top, and is like a half of a maryjane (no back!!) but its wide enough for my heal - BUT the IL Hallmarks I've been to havent heard of them - IND had them!!! :headache:

I haven't heard of/or seen these yet. I'll have to google them and check them out!

PEEP CHALLENGE >
1. WALK 30 Min - period, snowstorm, rain, heat, sunshine - WALK!!
2. Drink Water
3. SIT UP STRAIGHT _ KEEP that posture solid!! THINK while you're driving, suck in your tummy, while you are DISing suck in your tummy

Thanks for the reminders! I automatically sit up straighter after reading this!

I'm starting to see a waistline Peeps - and my shorts/pants arent tight!! The scale hasnt moved!!

YAY! A waistline!!! :woohoo: (What's that?!?)

Guess What . . .

WTG!!! Keep up the good work!!! :yay:

This weight thing just has not been going well. It is rising instead of falling and I am in real need of a kick in the butt! :sad2: I have dtermined I really can't have many carbs, so it is back on South Beach for me. I need to clean out the pantry and fridge and stock only healthy foods from now on. I have an empty nest, so there are no excuses for the junk food in the house! I don't need it and neither does DH! So, LOTS of food hitting the garbage this weekend! Then, I'll make a menu & go food shopping! That is my plan!!! :thumbsup2

I am wishing I could go to the peep-meet in a few weeks, but can't swing it. My Nov trip is completely paid for, however and I have $200 in Disney Dollars and about 75 Reward Points on my Disney Visa. I am ready to go!!! :dance3: It will not be here fast enough!!!

And Yes, Monica, I remember the "Peepers" song and now it is in my head! (Thank-you very much! )

Melinda-Dinner was super easy although, b/c I have an awesome bread machine, I had never made bread from scratch. A little tough but it worked out. Otherwise, the only four "odd" ingredients for all the dishes was the sweet chili garlic paste (never found it), spicy chili garlic paste, coriander and turmeric..two spices I didn't have. Everything else was easy! :thumbsup2

Beautiful pictures Monica!!!

Congrats on the weight loss Dawn!!!! You are going to look so awesome at the Meet!! I'm proud of you...I know how hard it was. Now if I could stop craving salt (aka fast food) I wouldn't be gaining all this pregnancy weight. ;)

Monica, those pictures are great! Your kids look so excited to hold their sister!:cloud9:

Ok better late than never right?

The pictures are great. Your kids are adorable!!

:scared1: TOday has been a day and it is far from over. I will vent later when i actually have time to think about all that has happened.

Monica - what a beautiful family you have!!! Gorgeous!!

My cousin - no change. There is brain activity, and they tried kidney dialysis and it is working now. She isnt responsive however...

1st graders - :scared1: Then they shut down my access code for computers, so I have to jumpt to get a password again... :sad2: Then dd school wouldnt let her wait in the vestuble for an hour (she gets out at 2 I get out at 3! Vestibule is seperate from the school - school is locked - its a waiting area with a bench...) so I walked to her school, then I walked back to my school -my secretary said she could wait in the vestuble or her office - so I had to walk back to her school to give them a permission slip for her to walk across the playground to my school.. :sad2: I got my 30 minutes of walking in!!

Yum, Yum! Thought I'd share a new food find with you. I just finished the yummiest frozen dinner I've EVER had. It was the Kashi Southwest Chicken meal with whole grain rice pilaf (240 calories, 5g Fat, 0 Sat/Trans Fat, 30 mg Cholesterol, 680 mg Sodium, 540 mg Potassium, 32 g Carbohydrate, 6 g dietary fiber, 3 g sugars, 16 g protein).

Lotsa protein and fiber, low in fat and cholesterol, low in calories -- really big in taste!! It filled me up quickly and I really enjoyed the flavors and textures. Even the chicken was fresh tasting and definitely all breast meat. Sodium is a bit high, but still less than 30% of the RDA -- just have to watch it the rest of the day. Also a lot of carbs, but they are all whole grains (believe me they are WHOLE in that pilaf).

I'm going to be trying more!

(Monica -- that is one ADORABLE baby! Big sibs look like they are loving having a little one to hold) :cloud9:

i was once again sick yesterday:confused: and when i put my pants on this morning i had to roll them down 3 x's:woohoo: but with my luck:rolleyes1 by weigh in tommorow i will have gained weight  so i am gonna pray to the weight fairy tonight:wizard: for small skinny minnie numbers. making dinner right now for the families. i am so far behind on this thread i can't even begin to catch up so GENERIC COMMENT
 :wizard: for all those who need it ..

Anybody live in Alexandria or Ft. Belvoir, VA area? I need some apartment info. Looks like I'll be living there temporarily (~6 mo) next spring. Good thing is that work will pay rent (and pet fee -- told 'em I wouldn't go w/o dog). They'll also pay $$ towards food and such.

I'm kind of looking forward to it. I've always wanted to live near Old Town and DC... looks like my chance. :) Also lots of walking in that area -- good for health.

PM me -- Any help would be appreciated!! Thanks Peeps!

MJ - sorry I know nothing about that area!! (you could always post on the community board - more hits there!)

watching GREASE on Nick at nite... gosh I really remember seeing that with dh (ok dboyfriend turned dh!!) at a drive in!! :rotfl2: try and explain that to dd!! :lmao:

I am so sick and tired of these gos dratted hot flashes, its no longer funny... 2 weeks of the ants crawling over me feeling, to have my body temp climb up 7 degrees (yes I checked, I"M A DORK) then sweat, then because I'm sitting (or throwing off covers to feel the cool air of the fan) I get so cold...

I'm saying, I CANT TAKE IT ANY LONGER!!

please, please get me to my happy place... :sad2:

Sorry you are feeling bad Sandy.

MJ, my brother lives in Alexandria. All I really know about it is that it is really, really $$$. Nice area though, from what I have seen while visiting.

I wanted to eat the entire house tonight. Like, seriously, oink my way through everything in the freezer. However, I was good and only had my mini frozen pizza (300 cals) and popcorn (200). Stayed under my 1200 for today, in anticipation of weigh in tomorrow... sometimes I swear if it weren't for this thread I would weigh 600 lbs...

Monica - Your photos are beautiful! What a sweet baby...

Kat - Amen! If it weren't for this thread I'd still be eating like a maniac everyday, instead of occasionally!

So I've been trying to catch up on "Fat March" - I'm not sure why, but I guess reality TV is sucking me in. (ABC has the full episodes online.) On the one I'm watching, the trainers are upset b/c Will ate too much food at one time and subsequently ended up in the hospital. They only allotted him 2000 calories. That's fine if you're not 450ish pounds! That's insane! According to this little chart I have from the American Heart Association, a female with a low activity level who weighs 100 pounds (who IS this person?) needs at least 1400 calories a day to maintain their weight and metabolism. Will weighs 4 times that and was maintaining a high activity level. Recipe for disaster. But hey - I'm not a professional trainer, so what do I know? All I'm saying is I'm not surprised his blood glucose was low.

I wish I had the ability to take off and start walking to lose weight. Is this one of those things I can blame on my kids?

Danielle ooo thanks for that - I usually ALWAYS turn down Kind and 1st grade subbing in Sept!! I always get criers - and I remember one time ready to jump for joy, no crying, when it was time for the bus, they forgot to tell the sub they changed bus dissmissal times :faint: so quite a few were crying as I was rushing them through a routine that cant be rushed!!

I wonder how many will cry today?

Danielle I told dd your day, she said "wow if someone cried all day here wouldnt they tell the parents he wasnt old enough for Kind. and maybe hold him back a year?" :rotfl2: out of the mouths - so try that tactic with stubborn Dad!!

(or not!! remember *I* dont have a classroom!)

Just the 1 cried, and only very briefly. She can't be held back because she turned 5 in March. However, one of the morning kids is moving to another school, so she is moving to morning class. Dad thinks she'll be happier there. I hope he's right. Overall, today was much better. They're wonderful when they aren't howling:rotfl:

Danielle....Sorry about the rough day with the kinders. It takes a strong person to teach the kinders and sort out their various problems in appropriate ways. I could never do it! I really admire you! How is your mom?
Mom is doing OK. I went to visit tonight. Hopefully she'll be home next week.

I hope I quoted right. I'm beat. I'm watching "The Zodiac" right now. So creepy. I'm just barely old enough to remember when that was going on (I know that still makes me pretty old). My mom tells me one of the victims was a former neighbor of ours.

Happy weigh-in day, all. Pretty numbers!

hey there- question, ive been trying to catch up, but whats the benefits of posture/sucking in?? :) Thanks!

"sucking" is holding your tummy in - strengthening your abdominial muscles - good posture makes you look at least 5# thinner!! and it helps strengthen your muscles - back, shoulder, etc...

Guess What . . .

I weighed in at WW today after my first week back and I lost 8.6 pounds!!!!!

My total since having you DD is 71 pounds! I am back on track.

(I have been lurking lately.)

WOOHOOTY!! :cool1:

The pictures are great. Your kids are adorable!!

:scared1: TOday has been a day and it is far from over. I will vent later when i actually have time to think about all that has happened.

:grouphug:
Vent away - I forgot I even vented - I came to the last page with Kat's kind words, and had to go back to see what I was whining about! :rotfl2: Of course I've been up since 4am - I gave up trying to get comfortable enough to go back to sleep!!

Kat - hope that feeling passed - I certainly can relate!

Danielle - I cant believe how often some peoples temper tantrums are rewarded, but I agree, what's best for the kids are top priority!! :thumbsup2 I only had one crier!! I go back again today!!

Melinda did you oversleep??? *grn!!

GOOD MORNING!

Went for my jury duty briefing yesterday. Did I mention jury duty? I was excused for the last week of Sept. but I neglected to ask for Friday, Sept. 21st off since that's the day we are departing. I'll have to call the office on Tuesday and get that taken care of.

RE: Exercise....I've been doing a video at home lately and the only bad thing about exercising is I"M STARVING all the time when I exercise. Anybody else? What do you do?

Punkin....I know what you mean about the problem area. Mine in my waist/tummy. I don't want to or need to lose any more weight but when I was walking in the house the other day, I saw my reflection in the storm door and my stomach fat jiggling as I came up the steps. YES! IT DID! I would have to be size -6 and 99 pounds for it all to go away. It's just where our bodies tell the fat to go so I guess getting the muscles underneath firmed up is the best we can do.

Monica! The kids are beautiful, sweet, and happy! The big kids look so proud of their sweet baby sister. And Mal looks so grown up! Looovvvve the princess cake! That's a BIG cake!

Aimee! 8.6!?!? Way to go!

Majic....2 more weeks! I have two teens also but they are dying to go! DD13 asks me all the time if we can have a Disney Day. That's when she and I ride all the rides on youtube.com

Heather?! What happened yesterday?

Tara....You'll have to go get some of the other ingrediants if you think the dinner will become a regular thing. I can't wait to eat at Ohana...then I may need some recipes!

MJ...I"ve wanted to try the Kashi meals but they are a little pricey for me. Glad to hear they are worth it. Maybe I'll give them a go if they go on sale. RE: Alexandria...We had some friends who lived one block from the metro station in Alexandria and really if you want to travel it's good to be near the metro...safe, clean etc. which you probably already know since you live near-ish. Our friends were just one stop from Old Town and it was great! We did see someone having her purse stolen in Old Town. Be careful!

GAYLE....YAY for cleaning out the junk food! Keep the good foods in large quantities and get the binge temptations out!

SANDY
....What can you do about the heebie-jeebies? Are there any natural remedies? Sorry!

MISTY
....Hope your prayers worked!

HAVE A GREAT WEIGH IN DAY, EVERYONE!

Good morning everyone..and happy friday!!!
I am down a small but going-in-the-right direction -.4 lbs i will take it, especially with AF coming this weekend and me retaining water like a camel in Las Vegas. ;)

OH so this weekend..is my friend Meg's wedding..yay! I am excited but it is the 6th wedding i have been in....[6th!!! ..by the time my wedding rolls around (if ever) i will not be able to afford a dandelion bouquet and an 8 track for the reception..jeesh! I'm not complaning though, my only concern is the food situation, we have sat. night the rehersal dinner, i'm sure i can get some type of lower cal fish dish or something there..its in Providence, RI by the water..and the wedding itself is buffet style i think, so i can choose healthfully-er..however, get ready. there is going to be a DESSERT ROOM..yup. The reception is in a mansion, ( same one they filmed Meet Joe Black at!!) and one of the rooms, is going to be filled with desserts. Sugar coma, here i come!! Guess i better dance my rear off huh!?

Have a great day everyone!!!

+3.2 this week.

Retaining water... BAD. I feel like a water balloon.

Wish me luck for next week.

Ms. H

So, the rule is that you've gotta post the bad with the good, right? Well, here comes the bad. I gained 4 pounds this week! :scared1: Not sure how that happened. I thought I made some pretty healthy choices when I went out for my anniversary on Monday and with my friends visiting from Seattle on Wednesday. In fact, the wife and I split my healthy choices, so it's like I had 1/2 a healthy choice both nights. Plus I was religious with my exercise ball/Pilates workout; and I'm also on my 4th week of mixing in weight training for 45 minutes every other day. It's just depressing that it takes me a month to lose four pounds and I gain it all back in a week. Why can't it work the other way around? :sad2:

Oh well, I've fessed up and now there is no taking it back. Hope everyone else has a better week than I did!

Here we go! This morning's weigh in was 183 pounds! That's a loss of 2.4 pounds this week.

WI Disney Fan - Cheer up! At least in 15 days you'll be in WDW. Keep up with your exercise and you'll be able to withstand the enormous amount of walking the the Florida heat!

Go Aimeeg! You're rocking the weight loss this week!

Have a fantastic weekend everybody! (Or should I be saying, "Have a Magical weekend???")

Okay, I'm -1.6 lbs this week. My weight loss appears to be slowing down a bit, but hey, a loss is a loss. (FYI: I have been averaging anywhere from a 3.5 to 4 lb loss per week.)

Here's hoping that I feel well enough to catch up on the peep thread this weekend. :goodvibes Yesterday, I thought I was having Alli "treatment effects," which totally didn't make sense to me because I eat very low fat, and I am also very careful with my calories-from-fat percentages and overall calorie intake. However, as it turns out, I was also running fever, which means it's a stomach bug.

Everyone take care and have a fabulous weekend!:thumbsup2
