Notice Cheryl, the timing of our last 2 posts??

it was that 40 second rule wasnt it!!

;)

WOOOoooOOOHOOOOOOTY

CURSES! I MISSED IT AGAIN!!!! Darn presidential second grade project!!!!! I will not miss 8,000!!

Woho - (half-hearted) Cheryl and Sandy! ;)

Sandy and Grumpy, I like the new avatars. Sandy, I will kind of miss the ...whatever it was.

My DD is 13 but in 8th grade and as the youngest in her grade. We have gone through our share of song debates as well. I think the Gwen Steffani song is alright. Bottom line...they will hear it...they will listen to it...but their reaction to it comes from you.

I say talk to them about the lyrics. Have them read it aloud to you and explain in their own words what they hear. If it is a song they are too embarrased to read out loud...then it is a non negotiable.

Just my opinion

I like this approach. Maybe I will start to use it with my youth group to when they are trying to convince me that a song is "fine".

Are you ahead of the game by already being in an exercise mindset or was something you were doing part of what aggravated this?

Thanks!

He told me no treadmill until therapy and then we can see. My daily exercises will help strengthen that joint (he said I wouldn't break a sweat). So, I will talk to the PT about exercise I can do. I guess DDR isn't a good idea either.

Good night Peeps!

i am excited i am going away with hubby this weekend to sin city And what happens in vegas stay's in vegas:rolleyes: no this is our 1st get away in 14 yrs but i am so nervous to leave my kids ,i know i am gonna miss them..like crazy............
well all my love to all but gotta get cleaning the house the un-fun stuff..

Sounds exciting. Vegas is where we went for our first time away from the kids. Every little thing, like just going to the coffee shop for breakfast, was exciting because we didn't have to worry about fussy picky kids, spilt milk, etc. When my MIL and kids took us to the airport, the security screener asked the kids if they wanted to see what Mom and Dad had packed using the xray machine :scared1: . I was really glad there wasn't anything shocking in there. Lingerie looks pretty innocuous on the xray machine.

weight loss buddy wanted

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi- I am interested in a weight loss buddy too. I want to lose 38#. I'd like to by July 07 (our vacation at Disney this yr)but I think that may be unrealistic.

I have done weight watchers before and I did lose weight but I got really tired of counting points and planning what I was going to eat that day. I'm in the 40ish age group, mom of 3 (11,15,and 18), working mother, I work 3rd shift *I'm a nurse*, so my sleep and eating patterns are the pits. My husband and I recently joined a 24hr access gym and I have been going almost everyday when I get off work and walk 1-2 miles on the tredmill. I have an appointment with a personal trainer later this week. (boy, I really hate paying people money for information on diet and exercise- I got all this information in my nursing education) I kinda do the weight watchers thing with my diet but mostly just try to eat less and move more.

Anyway, hubby has lost 15# so far- yea for him: Me- I started working out and I GAINED 2#- WHATS UP WITH THAT!?

So if you are like me and have found that after 40, you dont have slow metabolism - it just doesnt exist at all and french fries are not your friend - lets help each other stay on track for maybe not a skinny me but a healthier me.

Welcome Sparkie! Of course most of us know what we should be doing, but sometimes a personal trainer gives you some accountability. I hate the post-40 metabolism (or lack thereof) but I figure it's now or never, so I try to be realistic about my goals and get excited about every positive change. You'll love this group.

I just got home. I got good news and bad news. Let's start with good. My MRI was fine, no surgery for me! Bad new - I have what is called SI Joint dysfunction. The doctor said it would be a lifetime thing. I will go to Physical Therapy 3 times a week to start with and she will teach me exercises to do daily at home. He said my life would have to change. No heavy lifting or doing activities that require a lot of twisting. Right now he does not want me to lift anything heavier that a gallon of milk. :scared1: My laundry is heavier than that! Then he told scary stories about his patients that have this and how when they didn't keep up with the exercises and did not listen to him, they ended up on disability and in lots of pain. Anyway, I am still processing this. I will learn more when I see the physical therapist - she specializes in this type of pain.

Then to top it off, we go to pick up my DS at school and his teacher tells me that his President project is due today! I remember seeing this assignment like last Monday, before my life went a little crazy. For some reason I thought it was due next week. And DH has been doing the homework. I work with her so she knows I have been out of commission. She told me she has only taken off 10 points so far! So now I have to go do this ridiculous project. My DS is in 2nd grade, they are suppose to read books or encyclopedia's about a president (you know those encyclopedia's that are on a 2nd grade reading level :confused3 ) then write a report with topic sentences and supporting details :confused3 then make a poster and prepare and oral presentation! Are you kidding me? She told me he could type it or write it!!! So guess who will be doing this project! Along with an assignment I have due in my class! They moved the smilies again! Insert flame angry guy! Vent over!

Stacy, hope the PT helps. Did the dr. mention how controlling your weight will effect your joints? I have a former colleague who retired on disability with arthritis. She had a reversal of fortune and had to come back to work. She joined OA and lost quite a bit of weight and was able to return to work. I can't remember your weight situation, but any steps towards fitness should have a positive effect, right? DH has to do PT for his hip everyday and the fringe benefit (for me anyway) is now he has "buns of steel":rotfl:.

Trying again . . .

7,000 WOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOTY!!!!!!!

Well woo hootie Miss Minnie Moo.

Two things I wanted to tell everyone. Healthy Choice ice cream sandwiches are magnifique and just 2 points (if you live someplace where the thought of ice cream doesn't send you searching for another blanket).
The other is, DH and I went to a Mardi Gras crab feed and dance Saturday night. I exercised some control, but had several things (including half a hurricane) that I normally wouldn't. At first, I just wrote down everything I ate without trying to figure out the points. Then I decided to try to figure them out: 37, way too much for my 5' 5" body. Then I looked up how many points we burned dancing. Dancing went on for 3 hours. We were on the floor for every fast dance during that time, really working up a sweat. I figured that came out to two hours of dancing (I think it was more, but that was an estimate). When I used my little point slider, that was 13 points I burned. That put me at 24 points for Saturday, right in my range if I use some bonus points. Now I'm happy I was diligent in figuring out my points. I'll just have to shake my groove thing every time i want to go a little overboard on the calories.
Now I really have to go to bed.

Have a great Tuesday everyone.

I am up so early because the weather is bad here and I wanted to check out the weather channel. (Secretly hoping no school - wouldn't that be nice Heather! My hip is hurting but I don't want to call in again. So I am trying very hard to look okay in front of DH. But no school would solve that! But it looks like we will be okay later - just a really yucky day where we will probably spend time in the hallways with the kids.)

First of all, they have Mardi Gras parties all the way in CA? He did not mention losing weight. I need to lose 25 -30 pounds. So I know that will help. The good news was, I was looking at my charts and I have lost 10 pounds since October 2005 without really trying. So I figure now that I am trying surely I can lose 30 by summer! :thumbsup2

The thunder is bad, but I am going to try and go back to bed now.

GOOD MORNING, PEEPS!!! :sunny:

Hope it is sunny and warm where you are today. It is my least favortie weather here in the bluegrass state today.......35 degrees and raining!

Went out to DH's sister's surprise birthday party/dinner last night. Oldest SIL is a chef and owns a white table cloth restaurant where we had the party. Great fun and lotsa calories. The cake was gorgeous...looked like a small wedding cake. And it was strawberry cake and yummy. OK...back on the wagon....somebody help me up!

BEE!!!............Glad you survived the first day at work! All the kinks will work themselves out over the next few days. Hope you are enjoying the new job! :)
30 minutes on the exercise bike! That's right! I surpassed my 25 minute challenge.
I'm so proud of you Lynda! I only do 30 minutes but I feel so much better on the days that I do it!
I've been telling dd that God gave her to me, and God expects me to raise her in His image... but dd is upset because this girl is all over her now, and I've ruined dd life ("oh well, we can talk homeschool too dd")
 I'm sorry about the whole talent show thing. DD13 is on the dance team at her school so the coach & choreographer pick out the music...no choice on our part. :sad2: Why can't DD's group do something from High School Musical?
Treyner's 1st week of Jr High was spent calling me and listing off things forgotten.
Dawn......I have developed a close personal relationship with the lady in the counseling office where I drop things off at middle school. We see each other often. I think I will use the fuzzy slippers theory too. Also love your advice on the song lyrics. You're a mothering genius!!! :thumbsup2
Quick question-when having lemon and warm water-do you have like 2 tbsp lemon or do you just squeeze it in to your own taste?
JEANNE! There you are again! Chiming in with one little post. Hope things have calmed down at your house!
weight loss buddy wanted
:welcome: Sparkie!!!
I, too, am a 40ish mom with 3 kids. I joined here back in Nov. and have lost the weight I wanted to lose and now am in maintenance mode. This is a great place for ideas, advice, and accountability. Post often so we can get to know you!
I just really believe that what you put out in this world, is what you are going to receive. The addage of surrounding yourself with positive people, and to be positive is cliche, but I believe it...
Way to stick to your guns (or "no guns" as the case may be!) :) I feel I have to give DD my opinion about certain situations and with that in her mind, she usually ends up seeing the situation for what it is. "Wow....maybe mom was right?!" Does that make sense?? OT....Sandy...why aren't your cute siggie couple kissing anymore? Been married too long???
7,000 WOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOTY!!!!!!!
WOOOOOOO HOOOOOTY, Cheryl!!! Way to swoop!!!
Okay it is official i am on my way to make my ticker for our first disneyland trip we just booked ....:
Congratulations, Misty!!!!
CURSES! I MISSED IT AGAIN!!!! Darn presidential second grade project!!!!! I will not miss 8,000!!
This is not the post I meant to quote but just wanted to say....glad you got some answers today. Sit down and take it easy is.....well, easier said than done. Just try your best to modify your activities and try get the DH & the kids involved. Keep us updated and if the pain is not managable.....DON'T GO TO WORK!!!! Think long term....you don't want to hurt yourself even worse.

MAKE IT A GREAT DAY, PEEPS!!!

Good Morning All!! Hope everyone is doing well. Thw weather is horrible here. It has been storming since midnight. I pray that we are not in the halls today--I hate it when that happens. I will go now and read the 5 pages from last night. It amazes me how mush it accumulates.

Ok... that post by me a little bit ago, was Grumpy. He accidently posted under me.

Anyway, first day of work. Remember how I was stressed about the girls.
Well, it was icy this morning so I left early. I get a call telling me that her cell phone is in my car. Then, a few minutes later Grumpy calls and I find out I also have all of Tori's bus tickets. So, Grumpy has to take her to school and she has to buy more tickets (min $25).

Then, I call home, I just looked at caller id.. 7 times.. (am I OCD or what:rotfl2: ) No answer. So between 330 and 430 I am worried about the girls. I get a call from MIL, they are with her. Tori had to stay after school and Dani said she was locked out. So, I guess my stressed out feeling ahead of time was warrented.:rotfl:

Anyway, glad to be back at work. I have to walk 2 blocks to and from so that will help with the weight loss.. :sad2: .

Thanks for all the support!!

Love ya!!!

 THings will setle down and you will get a great routine down.

Peep advice?!!

DD has entered a school talent show, and this one girl (wealthy family) is acting kinda bossy... and I think this girl is very talented.... so...

DD wanted to add the song to her ipod... um I DONT THINK SO! I admit, I failed as a mom, I did talk about the "outfits" not being suggestive...

IS Rich GIrl by Gwen Stefani bad lyrics also? I've been telling dd that God gave her to me, and God expects me to raise her in His image... but dd is upset because this girl is all over her now, and I've ruined dd life ("oh well, we can talk homeschool too dd")

and how is your night? I really need to eat dinner!! DH is working late, but we're keeping in touch via email!!

Way to stick to your guns. I think it is great the way you explained it to her. Good luck with the song decision. Inour house DS cannot buy a song unless DH or I listen to it first. If he does we delete it and he loses his money--regardless of the song. We have said the same thing to him.

Treyner's 1st week of Jr High was spent calling me and listing off things forgotten. On day 5 I nicely explained the night before that I would be more than overjoyed to bring his things to school from the next day on and find him in his room at school to personally deliver the missing items. Of course strong emphasis was placed on the fact I would be adorned with fuzzy bunny slippers, curlers and a pink fuzzy bathrobe. Somehow, he has managed to remember things 99% of the time now. I don't know why...I look hot in those slippers! :rotfl:

:lmao: :rotfl:

My DD is 13 but in 8th grade and as the youngest in her grade. We have gone through our share of song debates as well. I think the Gwen Steffani song is alright. Bottom line...they will hear it...they will listen to it...but their reaction to it comes from you.

I thinkg that is a great way to handle it. WIll have to keep that inmind for DD.

CURSES! I MISSED IT AGAIN!!!! Darn presidential second grade project!!!!! I will not miss 8,000!!

The thunder is bad, but I am going to try and go back to bed now.

It always happens to me to. Yep, the thunder was real bad.

I hate hallways day!!!! The last time the canceled school I did not find out until I was walking out the door. My cell phone quit working and only 1 person had my home phone number. Needless to say my lovely kids were mad.

The thunder is bad, but I am going to try and go back to bed now.
My kids sleep through anyting, but not me. Between the lightening that lit up my entire room and then the thunder that rattled all my windows I was up a good bit. Well I must go and finish getting ready for work. TOday is my evaluation day and I think I want to dress a little nice-Wish me luck--I wonder if my boss thinks I am as good as I think I am :rotfl:

on way out the door!
SNOWED---- NO SCHOOL!!!!!

Later Peeps!

Love, Bee

Good afternoon all!!! It's a lovely day here at long last and I have just spent over an hour cleaning out the garage so that's exercise yeah. :thumbsup2 Ellie has got Ballet and Tap exam later today so whilst she's there Jess and I will go on a bike ride (as long as the weather hold out!)

Practically Perfect in every way!! Nite Jo - sleep tight!! See ya in the mornin!
Awww thnks Sandy and of course I am except for my weakness for Cadbury's and terrible Dis habit. :rotfl2:

I just got home. I got good news and bad news. Let's start with good. My MRI was fine, no surgery for me! Bad new - I have what is called SI Joint dysfunction. Make sure you take it easy, try and relax about your house a bit.

Um whos homework is it? Over here parents can help a little but it has to be the childs own work thank goodness, it's hard enough nagging them to do their homework in the first place let alone doing it fot them. :rotfl2:

Anyway, glad to be back at work. I have to walk 2 blocks to and from so that will help with the weight loss.. :sad2: .
Bee glad your day went quite well, and way to go with the walking. :thumbsup2

And I did 30 minutes on the exercise bike! That's right! I surpassed my 25 minute challenge. I was cooling down for the last few minutes, but still, I was moving! :cool1:
:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Treyner's 1st week of Jr High was spent calling me and listing off things forgotten. I am sure you will do great on your evaluation! I guess we are going to school, huh? I guess I will have to go and get dressed. Darn.

Bee - Hope your day is great! Are you walking to work, uphill, in the snow!!!?

Jo - I hate when they send home projects that they know the kids cannot possibly do on their own. If they want to do that, they should do it at school! JMHO.

I lurked all day on Sun and then wasn't able to get on yesterday since I was preparing to be snowed in. I have a snow day today so I can get caught up!!! YAY! I hate snow and cold but I can hang with the family during a snow day so I'm happy. :cool1:

OK....I was alone in the house today....which almost never happens...so for fun, I searched YouTube for all my favorite old 80's music videos...AND THEY'RE ALL THERE!!!

I danced all afternoon. I really should get some curtains on the back of the house. Elvis Costello, the B-52's, Squeeze, English Beat, Queen, Talking Heads....it's all there. Who needs to get out the records?

Search......and DANCE, peeps! :dancer:

We have an 80's station on our music choice. I love it! I try to turn it on on Sun mornings when I'm on the TM. I sing and walk at the same time. (Maybe I'd get a better work out if I was too out of breath to talk..........that would involove running though. LOL)

I've been a bad girl confession time... (and no, not the fun kind of bad girl)

I've actually been sitting here printing out names and phone numbers for doctors on my insurance plan. I've only been sick enough to see a doctor twice in the last 19 years... a bladder infection about 6 years ago and a bad virus this past June (even went to the ER for that one). ANYWAY, I have no idea what my blood pressure, cholesteral, or anything is:confused3 ... and :tiptoe: I haven't been to the ob/gyn since my postpartum checkup... DD will be 20 in October

Sooooo, I'm gonna git totally checked out... hate to lose all this weight and then die of something else.

Confession over... return to your regularly scheduled posting. :dance3:

OMGoodness!!!! I'm glad you decided to do something about fixing this. They say heart disease is a silent killer, especially for women as we don't have the same symptoms that men have. More women are also likely to die after their first heart attack then men as well. We love you and want you to be healthy! Get seen!

Dene...I am glad you are doing this for you! You are too important to let this kind of stuff go! Think of it this way..if it was DD, would you let her stay away from a Dr that long?!? :confused3

I second that thought. If you wouldn't let your mother or child do it, then it's probably not good for you either.

Good Luck Tomorrow Bee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seconding this as well! I hope you had a good first day!

And good luck to Bee and Grumpy's DD's!

I hope all goes well tomorrow for all of you! I'll be thinking about you (and missing you) tomorrow.

They've got their big girl panties, they'll be able to handle it.

Okay - I only have one Disney Daughter and I hope someday I will catch on to the fact that DD's stand for 2 daughters....but for now -

I see DD's and think huge Hoo Hoos. So now I have Grumpy in visual with a racey black number, ...maybe a Victoria Secret demi with push -up benefits. I am not sure, maybe I am imagining way too much...he looks more like a camisole type of guy but if he has DD's...Bee...you need to get that man some support or he will be known as Droopy not Grumpy! :rotfl2:
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
Hey...a few ?'s for Grumpster...

#1 When you walk into Victoria Secret...do they measure you Grumpy when you get "fitted" or do they just eyeball ya.

#2 Do they have extenders to go over your shoulders? Just wondering how long the straps are for a 6'6 DD person.

#3 If you have back hair...does the clasp ever get caught...or do you wax. Just a suggestion...my Mother in Law has to.

#4 Do you use the matching panties or just stick with the neccessities. If you do ...do you prefer bikkini, brief or thong.

#5 Are you so at the semi-annual sale the first thing in the morning....the rush and excitement of it all is exhilerating...we could use your strength to help push other, less deserving women out of the way so we get the best deals. Next Peep meet at Mall of America Victoria Secret's!!! Come one come all and with Grumpy as our Bouncer...we will have a ball. (Bouncer as in Body Guard...not as in :jumping3: :jumping3: )

Stay o my six ladies we are going for the clearence rack :cool2:
:lmao: :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl:

This is just a test.. this is only a test... please disregard ....

:confused3

(it seems as if a flyby 1 post person swooped in copied and pasted and somehow threw it on this thread to what? either by accident? or design to see how we respond... either way, dont feed the trolls, either by design or accident)

UUGGG Trolls...... must have restraint....... feel this overwhelming rage coming on...have to resist....... Ok, fit over. (Favorite enemy fit has passed. Oh, where's a sword wielding smilie when you need one?)

We just ate at Coral Reef for lunch in December, and it was wonderful! The lobster bisque was sooo good! And the chocolate wave..... mmmmmmm! :cloud9: Plus, it's pretty cool watching the fish in the big tank, LOL! :goodvibes

Have a great trip!!!

-Michelle

We at there last month and liked it. Yyyuuuuummm chocolate wave and the butterscoth creme brulee...... My mouth is watering.

Ok, off to read the other 8 pages I'm behind on! I'll have more soon.

I'm all caught up!

My Dh is such a nerd he called me on his lunch and i told him he had some packages . he tells me to open them and so i do, one a bunch of minatures for his d&d and the second a (pirates of the carribean dead mans chest ps2 game) he lets out a not so nice word rhymes with fit, and then feels really silly and say's "happy valentines day honey" he got me the game (which i love to play) we rented it once i think i let the kids play and i just listen to the voices OOOOHHH Jack Sparrow... orlando bloom ... just thought i would share that story..... :rotfl:
Love to all gotta go do laundry..

Missed this the last time. That's an interesting gift presentation. I bet you'll be LOL about it for a while. Hope you like the game!

This confused me too, at first. Then I realized I wrote it! Thanks Winkers! I would love to do a hot bath. But dinner to cook, laundry, dishes, DS's project, my class assignment (forgot it was due tonight!), you know the endless mom list!

No Fidge, my maid hasn't started yet! And to make matters worse this is the one night DH will be out late - so I am on my own. On the way out he was telling me not to over due it! (this is a sarcastic ha ha). I have my computer sitting on the kitchen counter so I can work on DS's report while I cook supper. My hip hurts and I want to cry! Sorry, I am having a really bad night!

Thanks for all the encouragement! Tomorrow is another day!

Stacey~ You've got to take care of you. If you don't you'll be in worse shape and unable to do anything at all. Get a stool and sit while cooking, delegate some of the chores. My kids are helping with laundry and dishes and some of the cooking.

Love ya!!!

You're DD's had a plan and followed through with it. It all worked out and every one got home safe and sound. It will take a few days to get everything ironed out but it will happen. Yay Tori and Dani!

<snip>

and then I call the other mom, who is older than me, and says, ooh well the PTO wouldnt allow that song either, and she yells at her dd, pick another song.. what about "Rich Girl by Gwen Stefani" and the mom is yelling at the dd and then asking me about RIch Girl, because "you know hip hop does have bad lyrics, but its all about the beat"... and i reply... well, I'm sorry if I sound like a prude, but she is my dd, and I have an 18 and 21 year old, and I just have to be watchful.. and I appreciate the time your dd took to choreograph, so I dont know... "

IS Rich GIrl by Gwen Stefani bad lyrics also? I've been telling dd that God gave her to me, and God expects me to raise her in His image... but dd is upset because this girl is all over her now, and I've ruined dd life ("oh well, we can talk homeschool too dd")

It's so hard to control your child's influences. We have a hard time with that as well. All I can do is tell my kids that tehre are some things that aren't meant for children and try to make sure tey have plenty of child friendly alternatives.

We went to the mall on Sun and there was a cheerleading compition in town. the girls there were all in the short tiny skirts and had so much make up on it made me ill. Little girls 7 and 8 yrs old had this stuff on and no one thought twice about it. I of course talked to my DD's about proper dress and make up. We also talked about how it sends the wrong message to be dresses like that. It's no wonder that child molestation and porn are on the rise, parents are putting their kids is skimpy outfits and make up and sending them out into the world; for what??!?!?! A medal or trophy?

Ok, getting of my soap box now.

wow now i feel bad i have both those songs on my ipod . but i am one of those who believe that you can listen to anything as long as you don't take to heart what the words mean, my brother is in a band that is anti-death metal i listen to that and support him but i don't really take to heart what his lyrics are... i am gonna be in trouble when dd 5 grows up....:confused3

I've done this for years. I do have things I listen to that aren't PC or even PG-13, but my kids know that there are adult things and kid's things. Music, books, movies ect. I screen a lot of things to make sure they're kid friendly and discuss things that I think aren't entirely too grown up for them. You never know when a great conversation opportunity will present itself.

Trying again . . .

7,000 WOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOTY!!!!!!!

Yay!!! 7000!!! you and Sandy were neck and neck there.

When my MIL and kids took us to the airport, the security screener asked the kids if they wanted to see what Mom and Dad had packed using the xray machine :scared1: . I was really glad there wasn't anything shocking in there. Lingerie looks pretty innocuous on the xray machine.

This is why I refuse to pack andthing 'naughty' when I travel. I'm sure the airline screeners ahve seen it all but I don't want my stuff observed by anyone.

Alright, DS asked about french toast for breakfast. I said it sounded yummy and asked him to toss a piece of bread on for me too. he hugged me and said, "I don't know how to make French toast!" I guess that ws my hint.....Gotta run but I'll be back later.

Yay! Snow day to hang with the youngin's and teach a certian young man how to make his breakfast.
