Disappearing FP+ - Actual experiences

Here is mine from December:

[Are you ready??....]

About 8 weeks before the trip, via the WDW web site, I selected MB colors for Cathy and me and the lovely items were shipped to me ~ 3 weeks before our trip, personalized and pretty cute. Cathy’s is pink, mine (University of KY) blue.

Around the same time I selected the colors and personalization, I made FP+ selections for Epcot (arrival day), MK and DHS.

Both Cathy and I have APs that were converted to plastic AP in August, but had not (yet) been linked to MB.

[So far, so good.]

I go back to the web site several times only to find that my FP+ selections are now GONE. My MB is GONE, but Cathy is still there with some of the FP+ selections, but not all.

24 hours, no email. 48 hours, no email. 72 hours, email saying they are still working on it.

Fast forward to check in day. _I_ have the MB and Cathy arrives hours before I do. She is allowed to check in, but they balk at giving her a plastic room key/card, making it very clear “We don’t normally do this.” The CM at check in also told her that MY MB was “good to go!”

[Famous last words.]

So we go to the FP+ kiosk in Epcot to link my AP to the MB.

He asked if I had a smart phone—I don’t, so he uses a tablet. Linking our APs to the MB is painless. Then comes the FP+ issue. The ones for me have gone, vanished, lost in cyberspace. So he copies Cathy’s FP+ to my MB; because it is already they day they were to be used, he has to do some system overrides. So we’re fixed. “Good to go.” All systems go.

[Or so we think.]

The FP+ worked brilliantly that day and Andrew was even generous enough to have thrown in an extra, so we had 4 FP+. That day and all subsequent days the MB worked perfectly for room charges whether food or merchandise. So in short, any time we wanted to give WDW money, they worked great.

The next day we go to DHS. I get into the park fine but when we try our first FP+, My MB is rejected. No FP+. Cathy’s works fine. Cathy tells them that ours are linked in a polite, but firm voice. The CM at Star Tours pulls out a tablet and “beeps” my MB, then Cathy’s MB, then mine again. Voilà! MB works great the rest of the day.

The next day we go to the MK; MB work great to get into the park and eat breakfast, then we start on our FP+ selections—first up Peter Pan. My MB is rejected. No FP+. Cathy’s works fine. Cathy tells them that ours are linked in a polite, but firm voice. The highly irritable CM waves us through. This would be the “Theme of the Day” at the MK. It didn’t take a psychic to figure out that CMs have HAD IT with FP+. HAD IT. By 11 am just about everyone we encountered was exasperated, short tempered and in some SERIOUS need of Pixie Dust. Cathy pulled out the “Wrath of Cath” tone at each and every attraction where we—well, SHE—had FP+, and the CMs waved us through with an air of frustrated “Whatever!”

A scene that played out over and over (especially at MK) was a guest or party of guests being told they did not have FP+ and parking them off to the side until they could get out their smart phone, open MDE and *show* the CM their FP+ selections! No smart phone? You’re screwed. Paper print out? Not accepted. As one CM snipped, “You could have printed this, then made changes and printed another copy, giving you FP+ all day for everything! I can’t accept that.”

International guests were BEYOND confused and frankly, beyond screwed as well. Just imagine English being far from your first language and trying to understand this mess.

So overall a very polarized review. Where and when MB, FP+ worked, it was great. When/where didn’t work, very frustrating. I was particularly irked that the darn things worked whenever and wherever I wanted to give WDW money, but otherwise undependable at best.

WOW! Just WOW!!

The darn APP takes SO long to load too. Press it right now and load it on your phone. Even with good Wifi it is a nightmare!!

Love the line about all is good when they want my money.

I love Disney, I do. But Like I said, I am tired of being a Dummy while they Test this Crashing system. (We are the Crash Test Dummies!!)

We booked our FP+ 60 days out, followed all the rules, linked accounts together, all seems hunky dory unless I check them on my DW's phone. On my phone all the FP's are there; on hers and the IPad it's usually only one or two people that have them when it should be 4, and it changes those people randomly every time we check in. Our trip is in 10 days, needless to say we'll be using my phone and taking screenshots. Fingers crossed!
This is exactly what has been happening to us. Our arrival date is May 31st. I have contacted IT at disney about our fastpasses disappearing. Honestly the only one I was super worried about was two our FP for anna and elsa vanished! The IT person was not able to recover it and he also said that screenshots (which I had done of the original FP I reserved) may not be honored. He said it depended on what the CM working the ride wanted to do. Since more fastpasses have opened up for anna and elsa I was able to thankfully snag two FP to match the times I already had booked. So now I have been checking every day to ensure those FP are still there. When talking with the IT person he said to only use the website for FP scheduling. He said there has been problems with the apps. So I haven't been too concerned about my iPad and iPhone apps showing different schedules compared to the website. As long as the website shows my FP Ressies I am hoping that we are good to go!

It happened to my family. We were traveling with a large group; I 'managed' 8 people who had FP for different things. I can recall all the specifics except one day ALL 3 of my sons disappeared! We didn't tell anyone because I have DAS , and the park wasn't over-crowded, and we made do with what we had. It wasn't worth the time to try and go talk to GS.

I appreciate you doing the legwork and calling Disney! We were about to do that and ease any worries we had about losing our schedule, then decided I didn't want to be on hold all day! We booked all our FP's through the website and not on the app, so your conversation with Disney puts us a little more at ease. As much as we don't like being the guinea pigs for this new system, we still know we're going to have a fantastic time!

From reading all the replies it looks like it's better not to do any modification to our MDE account after the FP+ are chosen.

I lost all my fast passes yesterday for our 8 day June trip. I called the IT number but they were no help. Luckily I was at the 50 day mark and was able to get everything back!

I had 2 tickets with FP+ today. The first (my AP) worked fine - I used those 3 FP+ in AK this morning. The second set (on my wife's AP) were messed up. I spoke to a very helful CM at one of the kiosks and she gave me a separate card with 3 FP+ that could be used on any ride at any time all day at park (my second park since I hopped).

WDW is still working very hard to make us happy. I was more than satisfied with the solution, and it only cost me 5-10 minutes to get it resolved.

During marathon weekend, we had a miserable time getting FP+. We booked things like Disney Jr. online, and they just up and disappeared. Plus we nearly missed Peter Pan and our Dumbo one disappeared as well. No rational. Plus my MB and my mom's were never connected to our tickets - since she has a military and I have an AP - oh it was all confusing and there was lots of misinformation on both sides. It was a cluster from the start. Plus they had my 1yr old son scan his little band. Why we got him a band is another story, but CMs wanted him to scan it! Anyway, Disney guest services called us and we discussed the issue and they did give us some guest recovery passes to use for our next visit (locals)

We returned to Disney this past weekend (Friday and Easter Sunday) Since the guest recovery passes were given to me via e-mail, I just showed my e-mail to the guest relations person and they took it from there. I think e-mail was more "trust-worthy" than screen shots?

Thankfully we had the guest recovery fp, since we had vanishing FP+. Not only did our entire FP+ vanish (which wasn't a huge issue since we had guest backup cards and crowds were surprisingly light), but we had our baby's haircut reservation vanish!) It worked out, because again - crowds weren't bad - but I had forgotten what time the appointment was at!:confused3

I hate to be this way, but until this stupid "testing" nonsense is figured out, the best thing to do is not rely on Disney and back-up EVERYTHING that is important in the most official manner with CM names, numbers and paper.

It was good that you had the ability to return to Disney!

What about those who can't return? And while some have been fortunate enough to receive back up passes, others are simply being told, so sorry, can't help you.

But you are right, back everything up that you can! I plan to email Disney once I have my fp reservations asking that they send an email confirming them, printing that out and taking it with me. Don't know if this will be enough proof, but another poster suggested this (it's what they are doing), and I am going to follow their idea.

Now I'm concerned because Disney is going to start allowing additional fp's as of Monday. They don't have a handle on the fact that the original 3 for many, disappear. Disney doesn't know why and can't seem to fix this problem. I like the idea of having the ability to pull additional passes but I fear that adding additional passes to mix at this point will just make matters worse. I sure hope I'm wrong!

I have no idea if this will help or not, but I just sent a message to WDW through their website explaining that I had heard numerous reports about Fastpasses disappearing and not being recoverable, and that guests were being given no recourse from Disney when that happened, other than to rebook or wait standby. I said that with all the money and hours of planning time being poured into this trip, it was very unsettling to think that the reservations would not be there when I needed them. So, I asked them to confirm that my FP reservations did actually exist and that they would be honored at the park. I plan on printing out their response, as well as a copy of my FP's, and keeping that with me in case there are any problems. Again, I have no idea if this will work, but I figured a pre-emptive strike can't hurt.

Did you ever receive a response from Disney? We leave in one week and I am nervous that my FP+ will disappear. I have printed out our list of FP+, but I have a feeling that it won't help.

Not yet, only the automated "we're working on it" email, but it's only been 24 hours since I emailed them. I will definitely post their reply when I hear back.

Missing Wishes while on the phone is unacceptable.

I feel we are just The "Crash Test Dummies" - we will continue to allow them to "test" this "crashing" system on us "dummies".

DH reminded me that we had a least 2 other glitches but I don't remember the exact details to share...... but I do remember spending time on the computer, MDE, and calls to IT during vacation time.

In over 30 years, I have rarely complained about Disney. I have been thru all of the changes thru those years and rolled with the punches. It's Disney and we love it.

However, I am getting more and more upset as I think about our Spring Break vacation. I was looking at our pics and see some cute ones that I missed while I was on my cell, trying to work with MDE. Our trip was chopped up and not as smooth as usual because I had guessed the times and dates for our 3 advance FP+s but we had to change often with small children and other reasons.

Under normal circumstances, we would have not been affected much. However, this trip was a once-in-a-lifetime trip for our entire family that will never happen again. Declining health issues are affecting quality of life and this was our family "swan song". We also spent a fortune to get 12 people there. My 2 oldest children have been going for over 2 decades and they both stated that this trip was harder and we didn't do half of the stuff we usually do. I do not blame that entirely on the new system but the difficulty in using it.

While the advance planning is a "done deal", the IT problems should not be. I only add my disappointment to encourage everyone to let Disney know what is happening in the real world.

I nearly cried yesterday to see a priceless picture of my DH and our 1 yr old DGD, laughing in the line to greet Mickey. The smiles and joy in the other family members faces were testimony to the fun time they were all having. However, you can see me in the background, with my face glued to my phone, trying to recapture a missing FP+. I missed it!

For all we paid, I feel like a volunteer crash dummy, too. With nearly 100 visits, we thought we knew WDW. However, WDW is now an electronic game of chance and strategy.

Thanks, OP, for trying to share info that can be helpful to others!

Oh, forgot to add.... our glitches were at the park. I didn't have any pre-trip.

So, to sum up, the system doesn't have glitches, and if your account loses something, don't expect help from Disney.

I lost my entire trip except for one dinner reservation about two weeks ago. Hotel, tickets, meals, AND fast passes. I called IT in an absolute panic and they could see everything and were able to link me back up. The cm tried to rush me off the phone but I refused to hang up until I could log in and see everything.

I am checking daily but not touching ANYTHING since we don't have smart phones and it appears will have no proof of booking.

I was lucky to get an A&E fp the day they went live. However, i had a FP for rapunzel that day which subsequently was canceled in MDE. I called and was told I have an open FP that day which will get us on any of 10 rides in mk. While this is kind of cool, my 5 year old wants to see Rapunzel. I booked her on another day but might take a shot at the line since it appears no one wants to see my long haired friend anymore!

Our trip is in 10 days and I'm not sure we will even try to use the mysterious 4th FP for fear of losing what we already have. Fingers crossed for a wonderful, glitch free trip!
