Disapointed in Mickey's Trick or Treat Party

To answer the PP - we used the bags they hand out - and certainly got more than enough candy.

I think it's a great value for locals who don't get APs. Not so much for people with hoppers. The only extra is the candy - which isn't so special, and the dance parties, which were actually a lot of fun.

Yes, exactly. It would be worth it if you didn't already have a park pass--you'd get to ride a lot of things, get some candy, have some fun, and all for a pretty decent price. But as a pass/hopper holder, it doesn't give you much more than you could get anyway.

However, if it was at DL instead of CA, I'd pay DOUBLE

I have a question for those of you who have already been to Mickey's TOT party. What do you use to collect the trick or treat candy? A plastic pumpkin, pillowcase, bag from Trader Joes or Target or something else?

We'll be there on Halloween and I want to be prepared.

We used the bags they gave us when we walked in. I did have another bag just in case but we didn't need it. We went thru our bags last night, took out a bunch of candy we didn't want and put it in our Trick or Treat bowl for Saturday, we have quite a bit of candy to hand out now...LOL

Also in the past more characters were free roaming. Two years ago DD had a wonderful time coloring with Peter Pan, Wendy, and Captain Hook.

There was no long line. They were just wandering around the craft area and sat down with dd to color.

I would be willing to pay more if they held it at DL and they had a larger parade, fireworks, and more characters (especially the villians).

Thanks for the responses, everyone. We've never done the TOT party before so we're really looking forward to it. And if it's not as great as I expect it to be, we won't do it next year. I think the grandkids like the idea of getting dressed up and totally being in the party spirit enough so they won't care about the quality of the candy. As for me, I know it's not Sees so I'll stick to my Tigger Tail from Disneyland.

each station has a different kind of candy. did you hit all the stations? its quite possible you were just hitting all the non-chocolate stand. just fyi, there are 4 types of box candies.

Oh yes, I hit all the stations. I didn't mean to imply that I didn't get ANY chocolate, but what I did get was incredibly scarce in comparison to all the cheap stuff my bag was filled with. Some stations might have had a few "different" candies scattered in there, but really. The majority of the mixes at any given station had high percentages of either Lemon Heads, Now and Laters, Tootsie Rolls, or Smarties. Just my own personal observation/experience.

It's all good, though. The trick-or-treaters who come to our house this year will be getting extra!

Hi Hi Everyone,

I just finished an email survey from Disneyland based on this topic.

I had read this thread before I went on the trip and sadly found many opinions on this thread to be true.

As TooCherie said.. the best part of it was being with friends, and having fun in our costumes together. So really that was about us, not anything special Disney did.

The candy was really not so good. I donate candy each year to a local haunted house that benefits a childrens charity, so I know you can get fun and good candy for an inexpensive amount. Disney cheaped out here.

What I found annoying was hearing at each station.... Two Lines...Have Your Bag Open. Hey Disney, this is not herding cattle, make it fun have colored light flashlights and say in spoooky cooky voices... this waaaaaaaaaayyy to ghoulish delights... ... be creative.. make it fun for us, cuz after all..we are guests at a Party.

Also... i heard several of the girls in our group talking about ..hey where is the music.. it was in certain sections of the park..but it would have been great to have more of it.

I also suggested to them on the survey...that why don't they use their resources... give out disney pencils , photographs of characters in their halloween costumes, mini juice boxes.. disney stickers.. really.. there is so much you can do for the price of candy. Once again, this returns back to poor marketing on disneyland. Marketing is not just ads to get you through the door, it's promos to take home as a reminder of your good time and build a sentimental/physical contection with the company and the client. And most importantly, marketing is that feeling you leave the event with.

I think for the price of the ticket.. I could throw a Supergreat Disney trick or treat themed party for my friends! Disneyland's party... sorry disney... the only really great thing about it was spending time with my friends and seeing their fun costumes.

In fact I probably wouldn't go next year.. I might however consider renting the joining room at a local hotel and decorating it, making a fun party for my friends with kewl party favors. hhhmmmm.. now that's an idea!

we went on wed the 21st as well. It was our first time going. Our children are only 2 years old, 3 in January so they were exhausted after a 1/2 day at disneyland then the halloween party afterward. We had a lot of fun, but we did think that for a park like disneyland, you would think they would have better candy choice. we did every single candy station, and we did not get any ghiradelli's chocolate. I have to say we got a lot of candy, a whole back pack full to be exact, but for young children, most of it is a choking hazzord. But we don't really complain cause we didn't have to pay admission for the kids, just for my husband and I. I would say out of the big back pack full, maybe 10% if not less were mini chocolate bars, the rest of it were tootsie rolls, hard candy, lemonheads, jawbreakers, a little bit of taffy, and a whole lot of smarties

I really wanted to get photo opps with the characters, but the lines were UNBelivable. The party is only so long, and I didn't want to spend our time standing in long lines, So I was really disapointed about that.

Because of all the construction going on, the place looked all boarded up.

The lines for the candy were long, but really really fast. We only did two rides ToyStory, that claimed had a 20 min wait, but it felt much longer, and the carousel, which had no wait.

We did get an awesome view of the fireworks at disneyland park, so that was neat.

I have to say we had a good time, but I wouldn't pay extra for the party again. Maybe if my kids were like 10 or 12 and could go off on their own, while we hit the bench or the dance parties, but for small kids, I would of rather went to disneyland.

I'm glad I checked it out now, where we only paid 52.00 compared to 108.00 if my two kids were 3 and up. If I would of payed $108.00 for a family of 4, I would of been really upset that I spent the money, when I could of just gone to DCA with my annual pass during the day.
