Disapointed in 1900 Park Fare

We were just at the world for a week. We left one day before the family we were travelling with did, and they ate at 1900 Park Fare the night we left. They ate there last year and loved it, but they said this year, after the rehab, that they were "disappointed." We have eaten there several times and always thought it was good, but I wasn't there this time around so I can't say what the problem was. I e-mailed them back for an elaboration on their comment and am waiting to hear. In the meantime, anybody else eat there this week and have the same sentiments?

We ate breakfast there together a few days before, and they were disappointed in that too. They said there were fewer choices now. I can't compare as we had never had breakfast there before, but frankly I didn't think it was anything special. I like the breakfast at Cape May Cafe better.

TIA

I'm watching this thread because I have ADRs there in a few weeks and I'm nervous enough about the character changes. I'm afraid my DD is going to be afraid of the stepmother and sisters. If the food isn't good, I'm definitely cancelling because we are paying OOP.

We ate at the Princess dinner on our last trip and were NOT happy with the food. The characters were okay, but they kept passing our table. Once my son finally got ahold of Cinderella he didnt want to let go, but that was the highlight of the whole meal. The kids didnt even eat good, except for the desert. We will NOT be eating there the next time around.

Can I ask, what was not good? Previously it had always been considered one of the better buffets in terms of food quality. Has the selection dwindlled? Was the food cold? Were the dishes unappealing?

I keep hearing that people are disappointed and I am having trouble figuring out why as well. I wish a new menu and some pictures would be posted, that way we can figure out what has changed.

This is very curious to hear, considering that 1900 Park Fare has been one of the better buffets in the past, according to most who eat there. I was considering it for a bd celebration for my daughter, but I don't know now...
Maybe others who go in the near future could report to us.

Now I am worried. We have an ADR there on November 3rd. This is our first time there.

Has anyone had a good meal at 1900 lately?

I too am very interested in the recent reviews as well. We have ADRs there for Nov 23rd and I am really hoping things have improved by then. We will most likely keep it because I know my kids DS (8) and DD (5) will totally love seeing the characters but I really don't want to pay that much if the food is crappy. I would love to hear from more people. Also, I am sure Disney has had complaints in the past about places. How long does it usually take them to rectify their issues???

Thanks!

Well, the food was not BAD, it just wasnt real good, lol. I thought it was bland and they didnt seem to have very many choices like the other places we went. It seemed like they were in a hurry to get us out too, they had others waiting for tables. My kids loved the characters and desert though! Oh also, they had Smuckers uncrustables on the kids table, so they got those too.

Oh no! I was planning on 1900 Park Fare for my DD's birthday dinner. She loves the stepsisters. She thinks they are too funny!

I would not change anything that you think will mean a lot to your kids based on a couple people's opinions, lol. When you get back PLEASE come back and let us know how it went!

Yes, if she loves the stepsisters I would not cancel. It is the food that is bad, not the characters

We were there in late September. I loved the stepsisters. My daughters enjoyed them as well (2 and 7). One of the stepsisters even danced with my husband. But because of the food, I think we will try someplace else next time.
My husband complained about the food the most. He felt they were trying too hard to be gourmet, and that they missed. As a previous poster had said, it is bland. But a lot of buffets are bland.

We ate there a couple of weeks ago, and I think they are still working out the kinks in their new menu. The idea is that Lady Tremaine is now in charge of the kitchen, and she has imported chefs from around the world. Don't quote me, but I believe the stations included Italy, France (this one I am not sure about), Spain, and Asia. They no longer have the pasta station, although they do serve pasta. They still have the carved meats and the strawberry soup. The salad selection was, I think, a bit less than before. They had a nice, and tasty, assortment of petite desserts.

We were among the first to arrive, and the first at the buffet. Several selections were overcooked, somewhat bland, and kind of mushy. Not bad, but definitely not great. Also, I know this is weird, but the serving utensils made it very difficult to pick up some of the dishes, such as the Asian noodles. I love all kinds of foods, but I must admit I was a bit disappointed in the quality. I think it will get better with time.

On the other hand, I loved, loved the stepsisters (although I do miss Suzy and Perla). They were a hoot looking for husbands among the bosy and men. Something new was Cinderella and Prince Charming dancing together.

My suggestion is to try the restaurant. We ate at 1900 Park Faire during our Sept Dining. We were there for the opening of the restaurant on the second day after the rehab. And the food was excellent! It was are favorite buffet and a must do for next time.

The characters were very fun and entertaining. My DH even enjoyed the experience!

I thought the food was very tasty and lots of variety from around the world as previously mentioned. We left very satisfied.

Just go for it.

My friend just got back too and said the same thing about the restaurant. She said breakfast was fine but dinner wasn't. And she raved about it in the past and has gone plenty of times there. I cancelled my ADR.

I haven't been on these boards too long, but one thing I've learned is we all have different tastes and expectations. I've read posts where people have absolutely hated a restaurant and others have loved it! You won't know unless you try it yourself - don't cancel your ADR.:thumbsup2

I was there in Sept during free dining. I thought it was fine. It wasn't the best food I ever had but it was good. I will go back. The strawberry soup is sooo good. I am a picky eater and there was a lot of stuff I don't eat but I didn't go hungry.
