Disapalooza HELP!!!! (Please.)

I'm fairly antisocial with people I don't know. Not really into the whole meet-and-greet thing. I hate official type parties and fundraisers. Can never wait to leave. I am able to be nice and make small talk...I just don't want to bother. It's a flaw. I'm not the poster girl for a Disapalooza type thing. I own that.

But I really, REALLY want to hear Marty Sklar. Rather hear him speak than anyone else alive.

I'm willing to pay for the party thing if that means I can go on Marty Sklar Day.

Can I go see Marty if I pay for the party thing but don't actually attend it?

I also don't know where I'm staying. Like to stay at the Dolphin because I'm going to be in and out. Just zipping down for that and leaving after its over. Will it make some difference on that "Where are you staying?" thing if I check one and end up somewhere else?

The folks that have signed up for the TSM party and responded that they would be interested in the seminar will be the first folks notified to sign up to hear Marty speak.

Should you wish to attend....this is the only way it will work.

Now....as for the event.....we promise not to make you hug or make small talk.

We will make you do that thing where we make you close your eyes and fall backwards into our arms as a way of building trust.

You will also be asked where you see yourself in 5 years.

And finally, we will pass a microphone around and you will have to tell us something about yourself that no one knows.

Just joking.....

The only people being asked to hear Marty speak are the folks that sign up for the party and let us know they are interested. There will be no general admission available.

Should you wish to take off after the seminar, no one will know and it's up to you.

That being said.....you should come to the party. It promises to be a great time. You can ride the attaction as many times as you want. There will be food and some surprises.

You can also be there all by yourself if thats how you choose to do it. We dont have SWAT teams making people talk or anything....well ok.....we have Alicia (Cocowum) and if Yvette is there, you dont really stand a chance. You'll not only talk, you'll end up doing karaoke against your will and dirty dancing on stage....but thats another story.

I hope you decide to come to both.

No prob I wasn't trying to be impatient more nosy and excited that's all. We are just so excited!!!! And to Kaligal you should definitely come it is a blast. My fiance and I didn't know anyone at all last year, and she sounds the same as you in social situations. But we came out having the time of our lives and having new friends. Give it a shot, if you pay to go check the party out, if its not your thing then you could duck out, but I bet if you came you would stay it is a great experience. Plus all the podcast crew will be there!!!!

kaligal, this is my first DIS event and I am anti-social at first but I think once you get to the party you will be fine you should def go to the TSM Party I think it's gonna be a blast!! I just signed up and I can't wait...I'm surprising my then to be 12 year old daughter with this impulse trip lol

Booked PCC 2.0 as well.

Kaligal, Please come to the party. What is worst thing that can happen, you enjoy yourself and make a bunch of new friends? If you feel uncomfortable then you can just slip out. Come long enough to grab something to eat and take a few spins on TSM.

I could have written that myself. I despise social gatherings. I went last year, and my anxiety level was through the roof. But you know what? I had a blast. I tagged along at the end of DATW, thanks to another gracious DISer who helped me stay for EMH since I wasn't staying on property, and I went to the TSM meet. The rest of the weekend, I did my own thing, and stayed away from the crowd. It was perfect.

This year is completely different. I am signed up for just about every non-official meet there is. I joined Facebook (completely against my better judgement, but if Pete could do it...) and I have made friends on tnere through the DIS that I cannot wait to meet. I am much more of a behind-the-computer type of person, rather than face-to-face.

Come join us. Even if it's just for an hour, like someone else said, take a few turns on TSM and enjoy a drink and some food, then leave if you wish. How many times in your life can you say you were at a private party at Disney after hours?

I can say with all honesty that I forced myself to be social last year and it was truly the best thing that I have EVER done! I am a social person, but very, very shy. I am usually the one who stands back and watches from the sidelines. I've always been that way...but when the crew announced the TSM party for last year's Mousefest weekend, I convinced myself that I needed to be there. I saw the party as a once in a lifetime experience! DH chose not to go with me and I was PETRIFIED to go alone. Once I got there, I met up with Mindy (and if that's not enough to frighten the innocent...) and the rest of the weekend went by in a blur! I forced myself out of my shell and met some truly fantastic people and had an absolutely amazing time!

We went on PCC 1.0 and then hit the parks post-cruise with our friends. All of the group stuff got to be a bit much for DH...he's not a park-touring commando kind of guy, so we ventured out and did our own thing. Met up with everyone for the major stuff like DATW, etc., but overall we just did our own thing. We had a blast!!

I hope that you reconsider joining us for the TSM party! It really is a unique experience and I promise that we won't make you sing, dance, or otherwise humiliate yourself! Stay as long as you want...whether it be a few minutes or the whole night! It's truly a LOT of fun and something that you just don't get to do everyday...

Seriously Kaligal, come it's going to be a blast! In day to day life I'm pretty antisocial but there is something about getting together with people that share your Disney passion. It's amazing. I was really surprised at how easy it was to talk to everyone. and if you need someone to talk to come find me. I can be pretty chatty. Besides, if you hate it you can leave. you will not hate it, I promise.
