i wud certainly ask at iasw.... i reckon if its quiet u wont have an issue at all.... is it school hols when u go???
when we were there, we actually ended up queuing as it was quicker than waiting in the disabled section - go figure that one out!!!!! but then, that was school holidays!!!!
as for the character meets - maybe ask specially - there r sum lovely cms out there that will help - and, altho the character train is a scrum - if u show ur pass and they bring the character to u - thats ideal chance to get ur pic altogether then

saying that...... when u go to get the pass, do ask about adding the others on - and maybe, bad as it is, emphasise ur sons condition being terminal and they cud add them..... i work on the if u dont ask, u dont get!!!! my ds2 isnt terminal, but this time the autism got the better of him and buzz & iasw were the only rides he really wanted to go on, so for him, characters were the main thing.....
seriously - do ask, the worst that happens is u end up with the pass for u and ur family, so nothing lost!!!!
jules - yes, that is a prob when ur son can go on rides ur daughter wants.... i think in that case itll either be separate, or not do.... with this new pass, ds2 cant do parachutes & rcracer - both toy story rides, and he loves toy story.... so we avoided the area completely, but as it turns out, i dont think he wud have wanted them anyhow!
i do hope u both have magical trips, i so felt the proper disney magic (due to wonderful cms) and hope that u both get some of the same xxx
