We went to universal with my daughter in a wheelchair and were told “I have to see her walk into the vehicle independently.” Those words stuck with me as she was able to do so but others may not be. So I’m not sure the exact options, but I wanted to share our experience.
edited to add: they did allow us different access pints when necessary (stairs) and the chair magically appears at the end of the ride.
the CM can not help you move form your chair to the ride vehicle. The can sometimes ( and I do mean sometimes) offer you an arm to help steady your self but I would not count in this happening and be glad if it is offered
So do I, and on the rides where i can't take my cane with me somehow a cast member remembers who I am and shows up to hand it to me the moment the ride stops. I have only ever had to ask for it once.
unfortunately CMs can not help in transferring in/out of a ride vehicle (the most they can do is offer an arm, like with getting out of the boat at JC)
Frankly, for the most part, when I've been solo, I've found CMs to be very helpful, to the point where it's surprised me, knowing the liability issues. I've had several offer me an arm, or even a hand to climb out of a boat. I've been fortunate enough to have CMs offer to push the wheelchair when the ride necessitates me transferring from my ECV to a wheelchair.
I never count on it happening, though.
