Hi all

When we went a couple of years ago with my husband we were able to obtain a disabled access card.

Please let me explain so that you don't just think we are against queing as not, I have been lots of times and always just que, very English at queing. DH has got no kidneys, heart condition, neurological disorder (awaiting diagnosis this Tuesday, fingers crossed that not bad news) and he also has mental health issues. He is not able to stand in one place. Some days he struggles to even walk. As we have been many times and DD is older she goes off with her friends and we meet up for some rides/parades/shows etc. She really want to spend time with DH this year though as he has been very ill and spent most of the year in and out of hospital.

Can anyone please tell me how do you obtain the disabled access card, is it the Town Hall, sorry can not remember.
Also what documentation do we need to obtain this.
Also can you stay with all your party or are you limited to just disabled person and 1 carer?

Any advise gratefully recieved as so looking forward to this holiday. I know it is going to be so very special. It is my birthday and our wedding anniversary. Just hoping DH stays well for it and is able to remeber it, one of the side effects of the neurological disorder.

Sorry for rambling.

So sorry to hear about your DH's illnesses. Yes, go to City Hall on arrival to obtain a disabled access card. Does your DH have a "blue badge"? If so that will be sufficient. If not I imagine a doctor's letter would cover it. You will be asked about the disabilities and given a card with the specific restrictions according to the level and type of these. For instance my DS who has one cannot go on rides where he would be unable to get down in case of breakdown. In theory I think it is only one person who can accompany the disabled person but it s usually only in the special areas roped off for parades and Dreams where space is very limited that this is strictly enforced. Obviously large groups would not be allowed but I think CMs usually allow small families groups to ride together and I am quite sure you would have no problems with yourself and your daughter riding with your DH. As your daughter is older and doesn't need to be looked after during parades she should be able to find a spot just outside the roped off area close to where you are there.

If you are staying in a Disney Hotel, let them know shortly before your stay and they will be able to help you with any special requirements.

I wish you a magical time :wizard:
