Disability Question

Okay, we are in the first mode of planning our vacation and I was looking into the GAC (Guest Assistance Card) because my mom and dad are both disabled. My question is with the card does the entire party get to stay together or do my mom and dad go ahead while we are in line?

We really won't use it that often since they probably won't go on many rides with us anyways, but when they do I want to make sure that we can stick together. There is no way either one of them can stand in lines and I want to be sure they have the best time possible. Then again I don't want people to give us evil glares for it. BTW I should mention we have a group of ten (my family of four, my sisters family of four and my mom and dad).

Just wanted to get the information before we went!
Also, I have read that electronic wheelchairs (forget the actual name of them at the moment) are kind of spendy rented from Disneyland, anyone have suggestions on where to rent them? Thanks for any help you may have to offer!

With a wheel chair or ECV you wont need the card. Its only for those with hidden disabilities. Using a wheelchair or EVC is pretty obvious a disability. Yes the entire party does go together in sometimes alternative lines and sometimes the regular line because they care big enough or no stairs and the EVC can go into it. There is a book you can get at Guest services telling you how to enter each attraction.

I read the limit is a group of 6 per group. But if you think about it you have two people with disabilities so should be able to have two groups. if they give you trouble just split into two groups. I saw a large group at Space mountain so I know they do allow bigger groups in some rides.

I dont know about rentals because my husband uses an electric wheelchair. Maybe ask in the dis a bility board on this site because someone there may know. That board covers disneyland and disneyworld.

Ps just incase this gets moved it never mentioned Disneyland anywhere in the original post!!

You would have to get to the Park early to be able to get (2) electric carts. they go fast....but can be driven from DL to DCA, soo you would only have to rent one for both Parks. All CM's are very helpful if you don't know what to do or where to go to get in a line for a ride. You will not need the card, as the wheelchairs will be proof enough. electric carts or chairs are definitely the way to go tho....the Parks are not flat and whoever is pushing is going to be really tired!

You can also rent ECV offsite, which is usually less expensive and much more convienent since you will be able to use the ECV right to your hotel room as well as in Downtown Disney. The limit is 6 including the person with the disability. Your party sizemay be ok since you have 2 with a disability, but I'm not really sure exactly how it works for larger groups. We only have 5 in our family and don't use the GAC when extended family come to DL with us.

Here are some Anaheim equipment rental companies for the ECV rental.
