My family and I are beginning to plan a trip to Disney!!! We really need the vacation, my son will be 2 at time if travel; and has several medical conditions. I've seen that Disney has a disability access card but is vague on the conditions that can get one. My son has stage 3 kidney disease, he is primarily feed by a g tube, he has a condition called eagle Barrett syndrome and has zero abdominal muscles, low muscle tone, and a dislocated hip. He will not be able to stand in the lines & he is near 20 lbs now; add a feeding tube backpack to him and he's a heavy boy. I am wondering if the access card would allow us to keep him in his stroller until we get to the actual attraction. Since most of his diagnoses are internal except his eagle Barrett syndrome you can see the signs on his abdomen should I have his doctors right something? What do I do to make this trip enjoyable for all of us?

:mickeyjumYou will ask for a stroller as a wheelchair card..
you do not need a letter from his doctor. in fact they cant ask you what is wrong with him. but they will ask how they can accommodate him
so you will need to explain how the stroller is his wheelchair and that he needs assistance here and there etc..
Hope you all have a great time

:welcome: to the DISboards!

As PP mentions, you may request a "stroller-as-wheelchair" tag that will allow you to bring his stroller through queues. The DAS card is not based on any specific conditions or diagnoses, it is needs based. There is more information in the WDW - Disability Access Service Card thread. Basically it is for those who have needs that preclude them from waiting in a standard queue environment. No doctor's note or documentation is required. I suggest you think about your son's needs and how he might be impacted by a standard queue environment. If the stroller-as-wheelchair tag solves the concerns, that is all you'll need. If he has other concerns, you should be prepared to discuss those specific needs.

Enjoy your vacation!
