** Dis Weight Loss Group - January 2015- Week 1 **

HI there,

. Last time I did this, I had just returned to the gym after having my 2 kids, my son was about 3, and I lost about 14kg! (I think it converts to around 7lbs??) So yes, I have the new clothes, shoes and hopefully the gym can motivate me enough to stay away from the naughty treats that I love :rotfl:

Sarah

Sarah, 14 kg equates to nearly 30lbs!!!! A kilo is 2.2 lbs so you did way better than you thought. Good luck for this time.

Pam

Well I can report that I only put on 2lbs over the Christmas and New Year period. Obviously it could be a lot better (like a loss) but all things being equal, I'm delighted with that. I am so motivated this week, long may it last. Gym might be off for a while and that may make things more difficult. I've put my pelvis out of kilter. Just had some manipulation and acupuncture yesterday but am still in pain and will have to see how I get on tomorrow. But for now, I am tracking and weighing and being super good.

Have a good week everyone,

Pam

I've just got a soup maker from morrisons, a friend recommended one a few years but there were quite expensive. Mine was £39 reduced from £59. I think it will be a great help once I get started.

That sounds great Sharon, Im def looking inti something similar:thumbsup2

HI there,

Great to see so many people have joined in with this group, we are all motivated for the new year! Speaking of motivation, I just ordered me some new runners, and gym gear. I need some inspiration, right?! :rotfl:

I use to do spin cycle/rpm classes, and these classes are great they keep my weight off and I use to think I could eat anything if I did a few of these classes a week. But right now I can't do them unfortunately. I have chosen to stay away from intense exercise, as it kept re-triggering my chest infections last year. So its all about the treadmill and Pump classes for me. I have an appointment with my gym on the weekend, they measure and weigh you, you do a fitness test on a bike, the compare your results to your last results if you have any (I am going to ask them to not tell me this time - wait for the follow up!! I'd rather know how much I lost than gained!) then they will make me a program on how to achieve my desired results. Sounds as though you have it under control with the gym and the gear Sarah, Go for it! Keep us updated and hope those chest infections stay away:thumbsup2

Yes it was with WW, I lost 82lbs and felt so much better for it. :thumbsup2

Over the years I've tried most slimming clubs and lost with them all but WW is the only one I stuck with to get to goal. :yay:

I know so much about losing weight it could be my expert subject on Master Mind, I just can't stick to the plans. :confused3

Well, lets hope 2015 is a good year for us all.

Wow! Libby that is an massive weight loss, well done. I used WW before and lost nearly 2 stone with it, but my friends doing Slimmimg World so thought I would give them ago this time.:thumbsup2

Hi can I join in as well?

My weight has been fluctuating for the last few years; I find it easiest to stick with a diet if I have a fixed goal in mind. I was able to loose a lot of weight before my wedding a few years ago but since then it's creeped up to a point that I'm longer happy with it.

We're off to Florida at the end of October and I'm hoping have lost at least 2 stone by then. Rather than using weightwatchers I'm using My Fitness Pal to track what I eat; I like the fact that it's free!

Welsome Meg, happy to see you here, anything that's free sounds good to me, Ive heard a lot of good things about my Fitness Pal, Good Luck and look forward to your updates:thumbsup2

Ours is a Morphy Richards sautée and soup. It does, smooth soup, chunky soup and fruit based drinks too. Think it was about £40 but it's worth it :)

As for slow cookers, I'm not sure what ours is but it's handy as you can take the 'bowl' part out and put through the dishwasher, our old one was a sealed unit so had to wash it without dunking it!

Thanks Stacy that is a big help, I am on the lookout now.:thumbsup2

Well done Pam, thats really good seeing as it was Christmas and New Year as well, good going. Sorry to hear about your pelvis, ouch! sounds really painful, hope you feel better soon:thumbsup2

Well it was weigh in night for me tonight and Im happy to say I lost a 1lb, that a total of 1stone, 2lb loss in 5 weeks which I am thrilled about.:thumbsup2 I have already gone down a dress size and I feel so much better in myself.

Today as a treat I bought myself one of those Fitbit wristbands not sure if any of you have one but any advice on how best to use it would be much appriciated. I have it tracking my steps on a daily basis and monitoring my sleep pattens but it does so much more than that, I just need to read up on it as it doesnt come with any instructions at all :confused3 I have managed to sync it with my computer and phone so will let you know how I get on with it. :thumbsup2:goodvibes

Good Luck for the rest of week 1 everyone, I shall start a new thread every week on a Sunday evening if thats ok:thumbsup2

Fantastic Sue, it must be really motivating see results, and going down a dress size, well you don't need anymore proof you've worked hard :thumbsup2 I was tempted to get a Fitbit but I'm holding out for an Apple Iwatch, I just hope the price doesn't put that idea to rest, they look so pretty! I have heard the fitbit is good though, I'd love to track the effort I've made, then try and exceed it.

Well done indeed! :thumbsup2

I can officially say we finished up the cake and chocolate that was left over from Christmas yesterday, so I can now start to be really good and shift these lbs! Today I'm going to finish rearranging my spare room to allow me to get the Wii fit out! :cheer2:

I don't have a fitbit, but I did pick up a similar band in Aldi before Christmas just to see how I got on with one before investing in something a little more expensive. I really like it, it's quite an incentive when I noticed I was doing at least 3 times the 'recommend' step count! Mine seems to have stopped recording sleep patterns though :( I took it off over the festive period, but I think it's time it went back on.
Is the fitbit one compatible with the Sony Xperia? I was going to invest in a Sony specific one as it would go with the software already installed on my phone but would consider others.

Keep up the good work everyone!

Hi everyone. I got to target last summer (losing 5 stones) with the help of this thread, so happy to see it back again :goodvibes

Since then I've gone up and down a bit and after holidays, a BIG birthday and lazy Christmas holidays I'd like to drop about 10 pounds. If I do that I'll be around 4 pounds over my official target but I'm ok with that - thought I was a bit on the scrawny side at target.

I don't go to a class anymore, just weigh in each week at home and have been sticking to 1200 calories each day since Monday.

Good luck everyone :)

Wow, 5 stones?! That is amazing and about what I'd like to aim for. I may be coming to you for motivation!

Sue, I have a Polar Loop, which I bought in the States last year. It is a watch, pedometer, activity tracker and a calories used tracker. I link mine up with my PC and it automatically keeps a diary of all my activity, steps, sleep, inactive periods. I love mine, but because of the digital readout, I can't see it in the sunlight so I've bought myself a cheap watch on a chain that I attach to my handbag for use in the summer! No problems in lower light conditions in the winter, but bright sunlight really stops you from seeing the damn thing!

Having lost nearly 6 stone myself in the past and then putting back 6.5 stone I think you are doing the right thing to grasp the problem while you have only 10lbs to lose. Good luck with your eating plan.

That Polar loop sounds interesting Pam:thumbsup2 With the fitbit there is no readout on the actual wristband, (well not mine which is the flex), there is on the bigger one called the charge. To see what I have achieved it logs it all onto the dashboard likes yours which I can look at either on my laptop or my mobile.
Im getting used to it now and managed more than my 10,000 steps yesterday:thumbsup2

Hi there all,

I had my appointment at the gym today, as expected I've put on numerous cms in numerous places :rotfl: Only 6kg (Maybe 13lbs) more than my last measurement a couple of years ago. At least it isn't too out of control. I have my follow up in 5 weeks, so now the work begins! :)
