DIS TECH guys - I have a complaint!

Here's the REAL story: I just typed up a wordy - but - witty reply to a thread. It was good, really, really good. And I hit the post button - and - I get this annoying box that says I have included too many smilies and I have to remove some.

OK - I may have lost count and added too many bouncy dudes - but why, oh, why did my entire post have to disappear?????:happy1:

Can't the DIS rub their lamps or something and fix it so that the post doesn't automatically delete before a person corrects the problem??

I found that frustrating also. I was expecting to have all my writing there and I would just have to take the smilies out. WRONG! Everything was LOST!.

Sorry guys! It's just how the software works... if you think you are near the smiley limit you might want to highlight it and hit copy...that way if you lose it you can paste it right back in.

First, a Pam. I think many of us have been where you are. I have lost some doosies here over the years.

I have learned, through error like this, that almost anytime I have a post or reply much over a line or two, to ALWAYS 'select all, and copy' before hitting either the preview or submit icons. If the board bombs out, or if you were typing too long and get logged out, at least you will not loose what you have done. Just log back in and paste. If I am doing something complicated, I will ALWAYS do it in either Word (regular posts) or FrontPage (any picture threads I used to do) first, and then copy over.

Lady M asks me (when she infrequently goes online now), what she needs to do (highlight and copy) before she hits that preview or submit. She learned too. I know you will not make that mistake again.

And Alex - I can't count the icons on my fingers when I'm using them to type!! (Duh.... )

Actually Pam, when replying to a few certain threads I have a tendency to do CTRL+A then CTRL+C every time before I reply... hate losing posts to anything at all

I am curious, though, Elaine as to how I get shut off from excessive smilies - but you sneak in TONS of photos of Orli-boy?? And talk about excessive exposure - there's nips everywhere!
