DIS Shareholders and Stock Info ONLY

Yes. They got the zoning changes they wanted almost a year ago, but haven't announced any actual plans. In fact, I just noticed that the Disneyland Forward website has disappeared. The URL https://www.disneylandforward.com/ now forwards to a single page on a website of the Disney Experiences division:

https://disneyconnect.com/disneyland/disneylandforward/

There is some information on the City of Anaheim website:

Very interesting observations here. Yes, it was hot, hot news a year ago, and now its "like it never even happened."

When idiot Chapek decided that it was a good idea to gut the Imagineering staff several years ago, do we now have a situation where we don't have the qualified staff that knows how to design and build stuff?

Just spitballing here.

I’m no fan of Chapek, but Iger was still in control of Disney for almost all of Chapek’s time as CEO. The more stuff that comes out it looks most likely that Iger used Chapek to be the fall guy.

Iger has spent over $100 billion on buying IP and Disney stock is worth less today than 10 years ago. How the board of directors have failed at their job of not getting rid of her is amazing.

How do you get that? He wasn't even at Disney once Chapek was CEO.

It's pretty well established that Iger kept himself in the loop all during Chapek's tenure.

Disney’s wildest ride: Iger, Chapek and the making of an epic succession mess

Key Points
  • What did a private bathroom, Oogie Boogie and a hippo have to do with the behind-the-scenes chaos between Bob Iger and Bob Chapek at Disney?
  • Here’s the inside story of a CEO succession plan gone awry — a cautionary tale about ego and hubris at the highest levels of corporate America.
  • This article is based on conversations with more than two dozen people who worked closely with Iger and Chapek between 2020 and 2022.

About 3 months into 2025. Only 3 movies have had a opening domestic weekend above $20M.

Captain America: Brave New World
Snow White
Dog Man

By comparison 2024 had 6 films hit that mark at this point

Theaters going to be hoping and praying the Summer of Stitch, Dinosaurs and Dragons can provide a boost to things prior to James Cameron saving everything in December.

Also to be fair, Disney has also made more original single story animated films in the last 5 years than Walt/Roy ever did.

Wish
Encanto
Strange World
Raya and the Last Dragon

And those didn't really do too well financially.

They did not. Encanto might’ve, but maybe D+ and social media was actually better for it. I’m sure a greenlit sequel will do well.

Yeah, Encanto kind of caught late. I've said it a million times, people clamour for original works, but then they don't go see them. Sequels and remakes have a much better shot at making money for Disney.

Ummm, but then where did Moana 2 and Inside Out 2 come from? Not from failed original movies.

They are sequels. That's my point - people are more apt to see the IPs they are familiar with, so sequels and remakes are making more money in general.

Guess I should’ve added Pixar originals of the last 5 years to my list as well:

Soul
Luca
Turning Red
Elemental

So 8 original films from WDAS/Pixar in the last 5 years, with another one coming soon in Elio.

Yeah, and we'll see how it does.

But my point is that people weren't (couldn't have been) familiar with those IPs until Inside Out and Moana were first created. How does that square with your statement that "people clamour for original works, but then they don't go see them"? Disney wouldn't have made sequels if the originals had bombed.
