Yeah, release timing could really end up being great for Inside Out 2. Despicable Me 4 coming on July 4th could also do well, but the rest of the summer is pretty light on big releases, so potential is there for a nice run.

(Bloomberg) -- Walt Disney Co.’s Deadpool & Wolverine will hit Chinese theaters next month, a win for the studio after Beijing barred

The decision, which Marvel Studios announced via social media Monday, raises the earnings potential of one of Disney’s biggest films of the year. The box-office takings of some American titles in China have historically exceeded revenue back home.

Marvel confirmed the latest Deadpool film was slated for a July 26 release after Bloomberg News reported earlier it was close to winning regulatory approval.

Disney (DIS) "Inside Out 2" secured an estimated $155 million in its domestic box office debut, far surpassing expectations as the company attempts to revamp its box office strategy after multiple theatrical misses.

The long-awaited sequel from Pixar follows the 2015 original title, which secured $859 million globally at the box office before going on to win best animated feature at the Oscars that next year.

So, we are passed break-even and it is still making decent box office.

It's tough to answer. There is only reporting about the production budget between $160M and $165M. The P&A (marketing) budget needs to be included to accurately answer this question. I do not believe there are any reports for the P&A budget for KotPotA. It did have a Super Bowl spot ($7M for 30 secs) and a presence at CinemaCon, so I would think that there would be spending in the neighborhood of $80M.

Break even, who knows? It might need to make in the neighborhood of $400M to $450M to break even.

FYI - I haven't seen any reports Inside Out 2's P&A budget, but I read a story that Pixar spent heavily on Inside Out 2. From SM spots, Super Bowl and CinemaCon and some of the other TV spots, I would guess that Pixar is spending $100M (more or less) on prints and advertising.

In the last earnings call, Disney guided for a small operating income profit in Q3FY24 for the Content Sales & Licensing division (where the Studios report). I am guessing that was using modest projections for Apes and Inside Out 2.
