Hello to everyone...
I've just decided to take my GF to WDW for the first time on her birthday in January. I haven't been since 1986 and have been doing my homework on packages, dining, etc. I've sort of decided on major details (staying onsite, DDP, tickets) but I'm certainly open to suggestions from the vets here. This seems like the best place to find advice and answers to some of the questions I have.

1. How do I tell disney it's her b-day?

2.Since we're only about 60 or so days away, what luck will we have getting reservations? This is kinda important because we're foodies and are excited about all the restaurants and menus. I've read some about the ADR system but...

Can't think of anymore, really shoulda wrote these down somewhere. Any feedback is most appreciated.

:welcome: to the DIS!!!

When you make any reservations, mention that you are there for a birthday celebration. Then mention it again when you are checking in and when you arrive for your dinner/meal reservations.

Something else you can do is when you get to the parks, go to Guest Services and ask for the "birthday button"...it's free and your GF can wear it and maybe get some extra pixie dust.

The only thing to do about that is try...and if you don't get what you want keep trying. Call everyday if you have to to see if there was a cancellation.

Start calling now, 60 days out you may be fine. Jan. may be slowing down a little, though lately I don't think Disney has a Down time. I don't know where your staying, but if you are staying on site and in any of the concierge buildings, they may be able to help with last minute ressies, or ones you were unable to get. I really think you'll be fine if you start now, and you can enjoy.
PS if unavailable stay on waiting list, pretty much will come through.
Happy B-day to the GFpixiedust:

Yes tell them its her b-day everytime you call or book something. You never know what little disney surprises they will leave for her. I stayed at POP 2 years ago and on my birthday they brought in some balloons and an autographed Minnie picture for me and I loved it! Some of the restaurants also brought out a small birthday cupcake or put confetti on the table which was nice.

Hi... welcome to the boards...
Depending on when you go to WDW in January will help out alot w/ dinner reservations... If its a busy time you would want to make them as soon as possible... The choices you made so far are great... staying on site is a wondeful thing...
Also, tell the cm's that its her birthday... Whatever reservations you make they will note the account... You can also ask them to put a birthday card in your room for you signed by her favorite character... My Dh did this for me and I in return did it for him... It was a great surprise to walk in to a room decorated!!! :)

Have fun & have fun planning!
