DIS Pet Hates

When someone posts a person's first name, but the name isn't in the person's signature or commonly known.
::yes::

"Vaca" grates on my last nerve.

I confess to call people by their real names and not their user names sometimes.

I am peeved that I was NOT on monkeyboy's Christmas Card list.....

I have more - but I'll sit back and share snoopy and kejoda's popcorn for now.......

. . . all of the political debates get to me, everyone is all-knowing and can't be wrong and i am just stupid.

That is a big pet peeve of mine as well. I see this all the time on religious MBs. Just because I come to a different conclusion than my opponent does not mean that I am ignoring the evidence or Scriptural passages  The sheer arrogance of people amaze me at times.

Then there are people who get so defensive about their faith that when you ask a simple question you get attacked for it

I couldn't resist heehehehehe ;)

I hate it when people whine about being "flamed"...when the most that has happened is that someone has had the gall to disagree with them.

And related to that, I just hate it when people post a message and then say "flame away!" or "donning my flame-proof suit now!". That annoys the crap out of me. Furthermore, it always seems to be those very people that later throw a hissy fit.

I thought she was calling someone a cow. :teeth: I've been away from the trip planning boards for too long.

I have to admit the AIRING of pet peeves is not one of my favorite things. Good vibes everyone! :goodvibes

I don't like it when people post a bunch of sentences together without breaking them up into paragraphs. It makes it very hard to read. Do you know what I mean? I mean, how can you follow their sentences when they all seem to run together into one big blob? I wonder if they talk and talk and talk and talk in real life and never come up for air? This would really bother me. Wouldn't it bother you? What is so hard about typing a sentence or two and then hitting the enter key once in a while to break up the monotony? Do they ever go back and read what they just typed? I don't think they do or else they would realize how much of a pain it is to read. When people go on and on like this I just tend to skip their post. Either that or I just read the first sentence and the last sentence to get a general idea of what they are posting about. This really bugs me. A lot. Sorry to go on and on about this but I think you get the idea.

That would have been more annoying if there was no punctuation. ;)

Oh jeez that bugs me too! I wish I had thought of it first! :teeth: There are times I've really had to restrain myself from commenting on posts that are like that. Especially the ones that are punctuated really badly, too! That makes it doubly hard to read.

I hate it when people write a kind of nasty post and then end it with something happy, like :wizard: :sunny: or :flower:

Lots of people do it-- it's just a personal pet peeve. ;)

Ha! Me, too. That is SO passive aggressive. I just want to say, "C'mon, you're being hateful. You know it, I know it, we all know it! So have the stones to be upfront about the fact you're being hateful."

My pet peeve is the tone on some debate-y threads. I get sucked into them too and I will try to avoid them in the future--a resolution for today. A lot of stuff gets said that is disrespectful & I think it is easier to be that way on a message board. People say things they would never dream of saying to someone in person. (Well, I hope they would not say some of this stuff in person...) No one is ever going to change my mind on politics. I am not going to change anybody else's mind either. I think that by the time you are an adult & have developed a viewpoint, your mind can only change on politics through personal life experiences. Just my two cents.

 I do that. No wonder no one ever responds to me. Whoops. :rolleyes1

I'm fairly new, so I haven't had much time to develop many dislikes, but...

The number of people who use "I seen" instead of "I saw." Sorry, I ain't elistist or anythin' like 'at, but this don't suit me too good.

Also....the people who......don't seem to want to use any......punctuation at the end of a .......phrase or sentence and.......decide instead that if one period......is good then many........are better........This REALLY grates on my nerves. I find myself gasping for air by the time I'm read the whole reply.

Someone else will have to start the thread called "The Feats of Strength." ;)
