DIS Peeps - DIS-cussion

Good (almost) afternoon (from the left coast)! Nice to see some conversation here. Today will be busy. I've put off going shopping for groceries and the last two gifts I need to buy. So, I have to go brave the crowds. :crowded::crazy2: Wish me luck!

Hi Y'all
We are all ready for Christmas so bring it on! Our little family will be here celebrating tomorrow. Debbie's Dad is here and we are getting ready to go to the Christmas Vigil mass which is much easier than midnight mass. Then it is home for our traditional Christmas Eve chili and tamale dinner. It is 70 degrees and sunny with clear blue skies. You guys really need to try a Texas Christmas.
So glad my family is small and that we get along. Hang in there Debbie and Junior.
Merry Christmas Everyone

Debbie, I am sorry that your family is making it difficult for you. Take joy in the meaning of the season and don't let them takes that from you. Merry Christmas to you, Junior and the kids!

So, today turned out a whole lot better than I thought it would. My aunt showed up and ate and left. My cousin (her daughter) didn't show up and my aunt's excuse to leave was that my cousin didn't feel good and she had to go take care of her. Ummmm.....my cousin is almost 40 years old. Not sure if I'm buying that excuse or not. But, at least she showed up and was cordial. Last year she showed up and didn't talk to hardly anyone. I really enjoyed myself tonight and had great conversations with all of my relatives. All the kids really enjoyed all their gifts. Now I REALLY can't wait until tomorrow morning when MY kids get their gifts from Santa!!!

Oh my!!! You are one brave gal!!! How did it go? I hope you got all the groceries you needed without having to go to multiple grocery stores. And I hope you found the last two gifts you needed!

As much as I LOVE the warm weather....I would find it very difficult to get into the "Christmas mood" in 70 degree weather. I've lived in NW Indiana my whole life and I love snow at Christmas....not that I get snow every year at Christmas, but I definitely wouldn't get it in 70 degrees! LOL I'm glad you have a family that gets together too....it really makes a world of difference! Our family get together usually turns out ok, but only after all the drama my aunt creates! My aunt was behind the whole thing....my uncle wasn't involved at all...come to find out! I don't know what my aunt's issue is!!

Thank you!! I think that's probably what bothers me the most...is that it seems like everyone gets it all wrong....I couldn't care less about the gifts (for the adults, anyway)....to me for the adults it's about being together...sharing memories....creating new memories....remembering those who aren't here to celebrate with us anymore....and making it extra special for the kids who make Christmas that much more magical by just be being kids.

The best part of Christmas for me, every year, is when my aunt (my other aunt) tells me how wonderful I always make Christmas Eve, and how beautifully decorated my house always is. And she always gives me a little trinket and she and my uncle have to drive 3 hours (from Indy) to have Christmas with us. Don't get me wrong, everyone thanks me for hosting, but she always compliments everything. I guess she offsets the other aunt's negativity. LOL

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT!!!!

So, today turned out a whole lot better than I thought it would.

Glad everything worked out well!

We were out for hours, but it wasn't nearly as crowded as I thought it was going to be. Best Buy was out of what I needed, but I drove to the other side of the mall and found them at Game Stop. So, that worked out well. I had to stop at the grocery store for a couple of items that I knew I wouldn't find at the Super Walmart and decided just to do the grocery shopping there. I found all but one thing there and luckily, the Walmart had that. I figured traffic was going to be horrible too. But, I was surprised how few cars there were out there. All in all, not a bad day. Unfortunately, I have no room in my fridge to get a start on the cooking tonight. So, I'm going to have to do it in the morning. :headache: But, at least I don't have to have anyone over here. Carting it all to the in-laws will be so much easier than dealing with it all here.

Texas weather makes Christmas exciting. Here in Katy it will be in the 70's to start today and then become very cold by tonight 29 is the low temp tonight.
So we get it all in a matter of hours. North of here they are having a white Christmas in Texas.
What ever the weather is where you are fellow peeps. enjoy it and have a

Merry Christmas

Dear sweet Debbie-one sort of word UGH !!!! How about those thoughtful presents? One year I was so excited to see this real big box under the tree that I saved it till last to open up. It was from my mother-A CASE OF TOLIET PAPER. Every year Chuck got underwear from his mother always the wrong size. One year she gave him bikinis ! Double UGHHH My son,[who was very studious] wanted a gift certificate to the bookstore. He got a Ninja Turtle umbrella-he was 17. Oh the holidays are fun. Last night we were at Chuck's brother's house and had the gift thing where you pick a number and then a present in number order. You could also "steal" someones present. One of the presents was a size 100 mans tighty whitey. There was coffee stains on the back to look like skid marks and yellow marker in the front for you guessed it. So, Debbie and all our dispeep friends enjoy today. Smile and eat one more Christmas cookie.

Vicki - PLEASE tell me these are gag-gifts from your mother and Chuck's mother! I will NEVER forget the first time I was involved in a "gag-gift/grab bag" gift exchange on my dad's side. I didn't know what it was all about and I got a pair of great big "granny underwear" with my Grandma's name on them. Since I didn't know at the time that it was all a gag, I hid them because I was so embarrassed. I thought I got the wrong gift and I didn't want to embarrass my Grandma by giving them to her in front of everyone either. :rotfl2: Once I realized (several years later) I got a good laugh out of it. (Better late than never)

I wonder if every family has an underwear gift story! :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: (I love your underwear gift story a whole lot more, though! LOL)

WOW! That is one heck of a temperature difference in one day/night! :santa:

Malaysia! Wow! What are you doing there?

Our Londonish daughter moved there a few months ago. We haven't seen our grandsons in over a year so we need to get there before they are all grown up. They are 3 1/2 and 2, so a year makes a huge difference!
