I like that little disclaimer. ;) That made me LOL...because as you KNOW, my little heart started to pitter patter before I even finished reading the subject line. :o :o :o

;) :p ;)

Wow! That is so cool. I can see the whole page. Thank you, Pete.

I love that cool radar with all that weather information. I'm a big Weather Channel fan, and this looks very cool.

LOL, Marsha, just fluff, we need DIS-Con news. :) Thanks for the links.

LOL Ray....what is with all you Southern gentlemen and The Weather Channel??? ;) I always wondered WHO watched that kind of stuff.....I guess now I know. ;) :p j/k Love ya! :)

My mom is a weather channel addict. For Christmas I am buying her the book on the history of the weather channel. (Yes, they did publish the book!)

I got hooked on the weather channel during hurricane season while at the beach.

I remember the weather channel even had a commercial about everyone watching...lol.

That's a nice gift, Carol, but I think that I would rather watch the live action on TV.

One year, while in Panama City Beach, Florida, I was watching hurricane Opal on the weather channel for several days as it crossed the Gulf of Mexico below Florida.

They finally said that it might hit Pensacola, FL. So I went to get my tank filled, and started packing all my stuff.

Around 11:00 P.M., they said that the hurricaine Opal was now heading toward Panama City, FL, but that its speed was such that it shouldn't reach land for another 30 hours or so.

So, I had everything packed up ready to take it to the car.

The Florida hurricane center, local news all said not to get out tonight, but to wait until daylight to decide to eveacuate.

I told myself, O.K., I'll go to bed and check everything out in the morning.

About seven hours later, I got a knock on the door, and the maintenance man said that he was about to cut off the power to the highrise elevators and that there was a mandatory evacuation.

I looked in the parking lot, and there was only 3 or 4 cars left. I was shocked. He told me to turn on the TV.

The hurricaine Opal's strength had increased to a level four and its speed toward Panama City Beach, FL. had tripled in speed.

It took me an hour to travel five miles from Captain Anderson's and Hamilton's Restaurants to the main bridge, and the hurricane was on my tail.

I was going to take highway I-10 toward Tallahasse, but as I was travelling toward the highway in a stop and go traffic, it looked empty and free of cars. As I got closer, I really saw that it was bumper to bumper and moving stop and go.

I decided to drive back to Atlanta.

Everyone was heading East on highway I-10 or North. Every intersection or exit had cars trying to turn onto the main road.

I finally made it to Dothan, Alabama when the radio had said that the hurricane had caused thre tornados in my path to Columbus, Georgia on my way to Atlanta.

So after 10 hours of stop and go traffic to go just 100 miles, I went to look for a strong concrete hotel.

My timing must have been just right, as I entered this concrete hotel with interior hallways, I asked the desk if I could stay in their lobby for protection.

Well, to my surprise, she said that she has had several cancellations, because peole didn't show up. I got a room and pulled the mattress on the floor as the hurriciane blasted through and lights and power went out.

Um, Dan, read the title, it says DIS NEWS, not DIS Con news!! :)

WOW, Ray! That must have been scary! In fact, I was scared just reading about it now!! :D

Kevin is always watching The Weather Channel, too! I don't know how many times I've come home from work and got all set to watch my 2 soaps I'd taped, ONLY to find that Kevin had been watching The Weather Channel and forgot to change back!! So, I had 2 hours of THAT taped and NO SOAPS!! Grrrrr!!!!!:p :p
